Kojima checking MGSV Ground Zeroes on all four platforms: ‘Different frame rate changes the feel of realism’

Lately Hideo Kojima has been checking all four versions of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. Here are his experiences switching between the various systems.

“As switching currentgen(PS3/360)⇄nextgen(PS4/ONE) for game check, it’s annoying to adjust bw 4 controls everyday.”

“Different frame rate changes the feel of realism.”

“But every Snake in every platform keeps fighting all day long.lol”

“Little break.”

Ground Zeroes will run at 30FPS on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and at 60FPS on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

60 FPS ok but is it 1080p on ps 4?
    merry christmas 🙂

    • Nyxus

I believe so, Kojima said the resolution will be better on the new consoles. And merry christmas to you as well!

      • Zero

Thanks for the reply, i hope it’s 60fps and 1080p on ps 4. I read somewhere that xbox one only supports 720p that’s why i asked only for ps 4. We’ll see i guess!

        • Nyxus

I can’t remember them ever saying that but we’ll have to see in the future how it goes. I don’t think there are official numbers yet, just that they aim for a higher framerate and resolution in the next-gen versions.

          • Shalashaska

He may be talking about the big controversy regarding whether or not the Xbox One can handle 1080p, because it’s launch games like Ryse and a few other games don’t play 1080p natively, but upscaled, if 1080p at all.

        • NegaScott128

The X1 can handle 1080p/60fps, but most games aim for 720p or 900p, to ease the strain on the hardware. Ultimately, it comes down to the developers optimizing the game for the hardware.

    • Golgari

Yes. It is 60 fps and 1080p on both Xbox One and PS4.

  • William of Orange

That second image! It looks amazing! That’s Xbox one version, right?

    • Nyxus

Can’t really tell, there are multiple controllers in front. Looks like a Kinect that’s turned on, but I also see a lit PS4 controller.

    • Nekkedsnake

which are you getting? id love a ps4 version but im not rich so i plan to get one for my ps3 and 360 since different exclusive content.

      • William of Orange

I’m waiting for the (PS4) mgs v bundle in march. Got too much (serious) stuff going on at the moment.

      • William of Orange

Sorry for me looking like a douchebag. Kinda late with this, but merry christmas and let’s hope that 2014 has some amazing things in store for us.

      • Janeo

Same here I’m just getting the ps3 version I don’t really want a ps4 yet but hopefully by the time phantom pain comes I have a ps4. Kojima has said the experience will be pretty much the same anyway so won’t feel like the ps3 version is bad compared to ps4

  • maynard

    NO PC ???

    • Nyxus

A PC version has not been confirmed.

      • William of Orange

They sort of did. They’re looking for people to port mgs v to pc. It ain’t the mgs v:gz edition, but I’m expecting to see the entire mgs v package on steam in 2015.

        • Nyxus

Yeah but it’s still not an official confirmation, for now.

          • William of Orange

Indeed, you’re right. But rising recently got released on steam including all the dlc and costumes. BTW, was the solid snake soul sword (i don’t know how to describe it) exclusive for japan only ,or did it got released outside of japan as well?

          • Nyxus

No, that was Japan only. And I also think there’s a good chance MGSV will come to PC eventually.

          • William of Orange

I’ve got another question for you! I’m playing mgs 2 at the moment and there is this weird codec conversation between raiden and snake about vamp. Snake explains raiden that vamp is bisexual, since there were rumors of scott dolph having an affair with vamp. Raiden asks snake how vamp sort of knew who he was and snake starts to act really weird. “No…. It can’t be!” , what did he mean? Was this a joke that made more sense in japan? (sort of like the codec call about sonic the hedgehog in ssbb)

          • Nyxus

Alright here is what I think: Vamp confuses Solid Snake with Solidus (since they are clones), so maybe Sold Snake suspects Solidus might be related, or even that Liquid is involved in some way.

          • William of Orange

Uuhureg* I don’t even want to know if either liquid nor solidus nor solid had any intimate moments with vamp! That, or it’s really late and i’m placing things in the wrong context!
            * oldsnake being slightly annoyed

          • Nyxus

No, I don’t think that’s it. Vamp just recognized the smell since he was working together with Solidus, i think.

          • William of Orange

But how could he recognize that it might be liquid? They never met eachother in person.

          • Nyxus

He did meet Liquid’s arm. 😛 But Vamp means Solidus.

          • William of Orange

That’s also something that intrigued me: liquid only possesses ocelot if snake is nearby, but what about Solidus? Does liquid hate snake so much that his soul is capable of possessing someone to haunt him and still trying to kill him?

          • Nyxus

Some people argue it was actually more Ocelot’s ability, since his father could communicate with the dead.

          • William of Orange

So ocelot did that on purpose or did liquid’s soul took advantage of his ability?
It sounds ridiculous, so you don’t have to answer if you were planning to do so.

          • Nyxus

I don’t think Ocelot did it on purpose, but maybe the reason Liquid was able to communicate with him in the first place is that Ocelot’s father was a medium.

          • William of Orange

Lol, good morning. I know that the sorrow is gifted with ESP, but liquid didn’t choose ocelot as his host because his father happened to be a medium.

  • MrVux007

Xbox One can only support 720p….witch is quite strange,if you ask me …since its next gen console and all… (O_o)

    • Nyxus

That depends on the game. And since this game can also run on PS3 and 360 (albeit toned down) it might be able to run on Xbox One in 1080p.

  • Nekkedsnake

“Ground Zeroes will run at 30FPS on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360”

im cool with this. its like playing mgs3 after mgs2. i noticed a difference in fps. mgs2 was always smooth at 60fps. mgs3 not as much at 30fps but didn’t bug me.
