Game Informer March cover to feature MGSV: new Shinkawa art, more info and screens coming
Next month the famous game magazine Game Informer will have a 20 page coverage on Metal Gear Solid V, and the series in general. A brand new artwork by Yoji Shinkawa will decorate the magazine’s cover.
On Game Informer’s site, the description of what to expect is as follows:
“Game Informer traveled to Kojima Productions’ headquarters in Tokyo, Japan to cut through MGS V’s shroud of mystery.
Game Informer’s three-part cover story is divided into sections focusing on the history and future of Kojima, Ground Zeroes, and The Phantom Pain. We had four hours of exclusive hands-on time with Ground Zeroes, which we used to play through the main mission and experiment with extra modes. For The Phantom Pain, we have new details straight from Kojima and a host of gorgeous new screenshots showing off Kojima Productions’ Fox Engine. Our massive 20-page Metal Gear blowout is the perfect way to get ready for Ground Zeroes’ March 18 release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, as well as learn what to look forward to with The Phantom Pain.”
Looks like Ground Zeroes will take at least a couple of hours to complete, though it isn’t clear how much of the game they completed. Either way, February 6th we can expect another update from the magazine.
“Our deluge of Metal Gear Solid V coverage doesn’t end with the cover story. Readers can look forward to an entire month of bonus online coverage at gameinformer.com, including video interviews with Kojima Productions’ art director Yoji Shinkawa, Konami’s worldwide technology director Julein Merceron, and Kojima himself. We also have extended hands-on impressions of Ground Zeroes and exclusive articles on the Metal Gear Solid series.”

Can’t wait, also hnng that cover. Although 4 hours was enough time to beat the main mission as well as doing extra stuff? That sounds very short
It does seem short but it doesn’t sound like they did all the extra ops. Anyway, can’t wait!
I’m excited as well. I just hope there’s some room for surprises in there, judging by how much we’ve seen from the ground zeroes portion and the length of it, it is a little worrying.
I agree, I see it as an appetizer for The Phantom Pain, which we know almost nothing about so far.
Let’s not be fooled by some journalist who rushed through the game, while speaking to his colleagues and ticking boxes on his notepad. For sure, fans will find much more appeal in GZ than a mere 4-hour-experience.
I guess it will be 4 hours gameplay :/
I wish if TPP and GZ were combined together, I can wait a bit longer.
I see your point, but I think TPP won’t be released until 2015. So I’m also kind of glad I can play some MGS in less than two months.
That sounds reeeeeeally goooood! …And spoilery! ;D I’ll have to quit using the Internet until GZ release, cause the game is short and we already know too much about GZ. I don’t want to see the whole game before release, (like l did with God Of War 3) l want to be surprised when l play it.
Yoji’s artwork awsome as usual. Hey how about ah mgo3 trailer already? I was just on the gameinformer website and seen this right before i came here.
I wish the boxart had that artwork.
HYPE TRAIN.
Interesting that one of the clips they used was BB blanking Zero in MGS3… foreshadowing I hope.
that cover i want it as a poster.
Yeap. It’s going to take at least a couple of hours to complete. Not sure that they finished Ground Zeroes in that time for their preview. I think they used it’s time to experiment with new in-game mechanics + AI. I think story won’t be a big part of Ground Zeroes. I think the most important part will be gameplay for that preview and I’m going to be pleased if they are going to talk about it for 20 page’s.
I’m more interested in the Phantom Pain to be honest. Because open-world stealth sim is a god’s present for me at least. My dream game lol :3 can’t wait and Thank you Nyxus for your awesome work. Every time you are right on time with Metal Gear news.
Thank you, I try. 🙂

2 hours long and they beat the game? Oh my. This will escalate quickly.
Short indeed. Oh well.
Damn, I’m excited! I want to read that article, right now!
Btw, is this an American game magazine?
I believe so.
kinda disappointing really.
though i’ll definitely play with the physics and how the gameplay has improved and such.
i do wish they would add at least like a VR mission training, heck a 100+ mission is suffice for the price their asking.
