Hope so, i mean “Metal Gear Rising” Steam Release date was announced like a week before it actually released, so Kojima could come now and say “Ground Zeroes will be available on Steam starting September 12” or something like that, i won’t be surprised!

just want to share info: Metal Gear Solid 1 is number 5 from THE 100 GREATEST VIDEO GAMES OF ALL TIME by Empire Magazine

    Source http://www.empireonline.com/features/100greatestgames/game.asp?title=5

    • Zlatan

      Only number 5? 😉

    • BigBoss_88

Hell yeah MGS1 the legendary game! Although it should be number 1 >:C.

    • No Place For Hayter

A recent popular game wins #1 in a “of all time” list, including the fact that the only reason it is popular is because of its story (which I happen to think is really bad) and not the whole game which it should be judged by, unfortunately this list is complete bullshit, I’m not even going to get started on The Last of Us let alone the whole broken list, lol.

It is nice to actually see MGS get some recognition of its excellence (I don’t really see it recognized that often, or I’m I missing something?) even if it is half-assed by people who have no idea what they are talking about.

P.S. I see that self up-vote, I too can play that game 😉

      • Janeo

I don’t know what people see in the last of us, yes it’s a really good game I played through it twice and enjoyed each time though I doubt I will play through it again anytime soon I do think it was a really good game. Not sure how people see it as the best game ever though the story is so predictable was that actually meant to be a twist at the end it felt so cliche I’ve seen it done so many times and my friends don’t believe me when I tell them that I expected it to happen I really don’t see how it surprised people. The relationship between Ellie and Joel was good but I have seen better like chicos and big bosses that just feels better to me.

Anyway I must have different taste then most people because it’s the same thing with tv, like how much people love game of thrones I just find that series uncomfortable but I guess I’m not the kind of guy that likes to watch continuous sex scenes.

        • Le Guy who drowned quiet

          guy?

        • No Place For Hayter

          Agreed.

As far as “Game of Thrones” goes, yeah stay away from the bad TV show, however I would recommend the book series it is based off of “A Song of Ice and Fire”, I find it to be pretty amazing.

          • Le Guy who drowned quiet

my uncle watches GOT but I prefer thrillers like castle and I rarely watch the walking dead and breaking bad.i stay a away from GOT.

          • No Place For Hayter

GOT is the new popular TV show that everyone watches and it drives me nuts considering it is just sex and castles, but I thought it had a lot going for it aside from the stupid things they were doing with it so I read the books, and I was not disappointed, it is one of the best book series I have read, though I hate saying I love the books when the TV show is popular, I feel like some dumb hipster who caught unto the popularity of the show and is saying “TV SUXS READ TEH BOOKZ SO MUCH BETTERZ”, lol.

Same thing with the walking dead, stay away from the horrible TV show and read the truly excellent comics (It is so good people like to steal things from it, even The Last of Us stole a great character development/relationship idea) though I have only read the first like 98 comics or something like that (the first two compendiums) so I can’t speak for anything after that.

And for me Breaking Bad was really good, than it got really stupid and I got sick of the stupid characters and the writers fetish with them, so I stopped watching and haven’t gone back since.

          • BigBoss_88

I’ve watched GoT and like it very much :), as there rarely are any good fantasy tv-series. Sometimes it progresses a bit slowly though and it’s not really full of sex scenes. It’s got a lot of conspiracy stuff, dramatic scenes and great fights :), which I like. Started to read the books too recently, Spartacus is imo more about gore and sex. But we all got our own favorite shows, I’ve watched a lot different ones, but some of my most top are maybe X-Files, OZ, Stargate, Breaking Bad, TWD, Dexter, NCIS, 24 and GoT.

          • No Place For Hayter

As long as you read the books you are OK in my books…….lol, just kidding, the good thing about a TV show like GOT is that it does have source material which is really good so it can’t be all bad so it has a lot of good, and the worst parts in the show are when they misinterpret the book, or when they change something or mess with the timeline.

I would add “Life on Mars” (I am referring to the original UK Life of Mars and not the absolutely horrendous US version) and “Ashes to Ashes” to my list of favorite TV shows as well as most of the ones you listed.

    • decoyF0XX

It’s funny and awesome that there were 4 Metal Gear Solid games on that list of 100!!

And I gotta say, The Last Of Us was a great game but it had pretty average (if not mediocre) gameplay. Its supposed to be a “game” most importantly, it should totally not be #1, not even top 20, I mean the list is supposed to be OF ALL TIME dammit, even Chrono Trigger is wayy better than The Last Of Us. MGS games are the only games I know that always have an equally strong story and strong gameplay working well together. Kojima, being the design god he is always develops both elements in parallel and they come together well.

Really weird list though. If it were mine Far Cry 3 would be up there somewhere too and MGS 2 would be #1 but well…

(I’ve never played ICO or Shadow of the Colussus but damn why do they always crop up on every list???)

      • BigBoss_88

I agree with ya, MGS rocks the list!
Anyway, TLoU is one of my favorite games, but still it is the kind of game I rarely play again for some reason. For it to be number 1 is something I don’t understand. In my opinion it is praised too much as there are better games. I mean if for example we think about MGS1, it revolutionized the game industry :D, but what did TLoU do? Well it did give a fantastic story + characters and that’s about it.

As a game it wasn’t nearly so epic like MGS games imo, or especially MGS1. Which is a game many stealth games including Splinter Cell, AC or TLoU can perhaps say big thanks to, because they might not exist the way they do without MGS1 and Kojima. MGS1 was also considered by many game people and critics etc the greatest game ever back in the late 90’s, I guess many games can get that title in the end.

I don’t know how these lists are made, but my list would be quite different. Is it made like this?
List maker dude: “Hey folks you know that very recent game that apparently won 200 GotY rewards somehow, lets put it number 1 on our list! Because it deserves to be number 1 right? With all those rewards? Hmmm yes.”

I played SotC when I had my PS2 and loved it, still consider it amongst my top games. It was just so different from many other games, every encounter was like a challenging boss fight and the world was beautiful etc ^_^.

        • Janeo

I never got into sotc I played it in the hd collection a few years ago and I enjoyed the first few hours but it got boring for me just kill a giant thing and move on to the next one. I did like how it took a different strategy to beat everyone but I just got bored of it after a few hours. I enjoyed ICO a lot more a lot of the puzzles were really cool and the combat was very simple but fun.

        • decoyF0XX

Although MGS2 is my fav I’ll never deny that MGS1 is the most revolutionary, was 4 years old then so I kinna missed the revolution but yeah lol. MGS4 didn’t really bring anything new to the table so it doesn’t need to be on the list but great game still I’m happy it’s there.

Guess I might just pick up theSotC collection and see fir myself, sounds like a great game. I just hope it’s not something like dark souls lol.

          • BigBoss_88

No lol :), it’s nothing like Dark Souls. You won’t be breaking your screens or walls so much don’t worry ;D. It’s a beautiful fantasy game where you have to defeat giants, but in a more clever way than Dark Souls. Like in the old Disney cartoon where Mickey Mouse fight that one giant lol.

          • decoyF0XX

            Haha good!

      • No Place For Hayter

I’m not a huge fan of ICO, it is a good game, just the whole game being an escort puzzle mission kinda turns me off, HOWEVER you MUST play Shadow of the Colossus, but if you plan to finish the time attack challenges after you finish the story of SotC, do not buy the HD collection version of SotC they fudged the mechanics a bit making fighting some of them much MUCH harder than it was on the PS2 version.

        • BigBoss_88

Damn I totally forgot it’s available on PS3 also :D, need to play it again omg. I don’t have PS2 anymore.

          • No Place For Hayter

            Neither do I T_T

        • decoyF0XX

          But then i’ll have to get a ps2? :/

          • No Place For Hayter

I know it sucks, it really does, I wish everything could be backwards compatible the PS3 use to be, oh well. You could totally get the HD collection it’s just that instead of enjoying the time attacks (If you like getting hurt, lol) you will be tearing your hair out, lol.

But considering you have to play SotC and that you don’t have a PS2 I would recommend getting the HD collection as it is the only reasonable way to play it for you at the moment. I have played the game a lot and had more trouble than I usually did while playing the game, but I only noticed the problem while doing the time attacks. Even though I recommend getting the HD collection it is hard for me to do so because the games mechanics are a bit busted and therefor makes some things more irritating than they are supposed to be and thus take away from the experience, but it is still a excellent game though.

          • decoyF0XX

Most older games are kinda tough to play now, not necessarily because they’re harder but cause we’re used to different mechanics now. If it’s something like that I can understand. Playing MGS1 again this year was a frustrating experience, was cursing Kojima throughout the whole thing lol. I almost broke my tv screen during that gray fox fight!

  • BigBoss_88

PSVita ftw ;), too bad I already got the collection on it.
