    Nice drawing distance on pc

  • crimsonfox

It looks better during the day, But way to much reflection on the night time shots. For me personally at least. Evidence of it being to much is in the shot where Big Boss is choking the guard sitting down.

    • SamOp

      In that shot,it isn’t reflection,it’s focus blur

      • crimsonfox

I guess i’m just talking about how theres is just to much effect going on everywhere for me.
You’re right though, I worded it wrong.

        • MichaelPayneV

That’s because of the stupid decision to put both DoF anf Motion Blur on the same slider as “Effects” and not separate

    • MichaelPayneV

” But way to much reflection on the night time shots”

Just how would you imagine looking and Rainy Night in Real Life, wouldn’t in real life Walter reflect from the Ground, and lighting reflect from the wet walls?

      Think before you talk!

      • crimsonfox

I just finished up my graveyard shift in the rain, on a campus with trees wrapped in Christmas lights all over. I’m telling you… that’s way too much light bouncing off surfaces.

And your “think before you talk!” comment you can shove up your ass I had already had admitted I worded it wrong.

        • MichaelPayneV

I’m sorry, but i didn’t saw your other comment.

          • crimsonfox

You didn’t “see” my other comment.

            Think before you type!

          • MichaelPayneV

You missed the opportunity to say “Read before you type!”

And i already said that i’m sorry.

  • solidsnack

both versions look really great but i definitely crave those extra parts of lighting and the extra reflections and details for TPP – makes me wanna jump right in!

  • ThreeMadFrogs

I’m happy with my PS4 version.

    • Big_Boss88

Me too, but I will still buy this ;D !

    • Raymondius

      I’m exultant with my PS3 version. :3

    • Ninja_Se7eN

Me too and I’m not getting a PC version :P.

    • Joaquin Romero Victorica

I am Metal gear playstation fan ; But now i have the option to play Gz with Dual audio – Japanese with subtitles . Im really exited =)

  • gnysek

Little more reflexions on PC and more blurring in some places – question is that it’s change in PC version, or fixes in FOX ENGINE during this time?

    • MichaelPayneV

I think is just the PC Version, because the update for the Consoles Version was released, and it hasn’t upgraded the Graphics, which means that GZ at 60FPS was using the entire PS4!

      • gnysek

First – it was relesed some time ago, and mainly was for another side-ops. Secondly – it would be a bad idea to release it now, cause if PC version would look same, nobody would like to buy it – now maybe if you got PS4 – you want a PC version too.
And about using entire PS4 – since every map can have a different size and different amount of object – we cannot say that it’s using entire PS4. For example in Main Mission, when facing sea at start point, game display only sea and some rocks and skips building behind you, which means there’s a lot of empty memory and not much calculations to do. But if you shot down a helicopter and a lot of enemies is shooting on landing pad near administrative building – then PS4 uses a lot of calculations for sure, but we don’t know that it’s everything, or there is still space left (for example for even bigger maps in MGSV:TPP). It’s universal engine and in that case usually there is some space for optimization, or some code is written “just in case” and waste memory. But it’s easier and faster to create a game using it. Good example is MGS2 vs MGS3, or ZOE vs ZOE2 – much optimization was done and both of them have bigger areas and more details, but engines for first ones aren’t allowing to display things before optimization for next games in franchise, while hardware remains same. GZ have some space empty to optimization for sure, cause lot of things like motherbase, horse which makes poop, and all that stuff is cut, while data about it need to remains in memory in TPP.

So, as long as both versions aren’t released at same time, so newer version of Fox Engine is used in PC version than in PS4 – we cannot be sure that PS4 isn’t powerful enough, or they just updated it and it’s just against marketing to update PS4 version now, cause this may mean less copies sold on steam. We need to wait for TPP to be sure. Only sure thing is PC version looks better on CURRENT version of Fox Engine, and PC can display it in higher res than HD with proper GPU 🙂

        • MichaelPayneV

No, just no, if Ground Zeroes was not ready and had missing Graphicals feature that the PS4 could handle, they would have not released without them, it is what it is, the PS4 is not powerful enough to have those features, like the Screen Space Reflections and the better Depth of Field, so say thanks that MGSV is running at 1080p 60fps, unlike other “Next-Gen” Games run at 900p and 30fps.

Ground Zeroes at 1080p 60fps with the current Graphical feature is all the PS4 can do, or much better, Uncharted 4 is all the PS4 can do, and that Game already doesn’t look as the Teaser from E3 2014!

          • Javier Sosa

It won´t be bad if they release tpp with 30 fps just to fix the pop in and the depth of field.

          • MichaelPayneV

Or much better, make like “The Last of Us: Remastered” and give the Ps4 player the ability to chose between 30fps with better Draw Distance and less pop in, and 60fps with standard PS4 Graphics!

          • gerber

That would be awesome. Or option to keep 60fps during gameplay, but lock 30 at cutscenes. There is a reason why they still make movies at 24. For me 60 doesnt work for cutscenes. Hmm but in mgs5 there is this smooth transition beetween gameplay and cutscenes so I dunno… Anyway, extra options like that are always welcome!

          • MrVux007

keep digging that ignorance hole mate…. (and im sure that next year they will show even more graphically complex games then Uncharted 4 or MGSV that will run on the same level as those two) http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/12/14/calling-uncharted-4s-ps4-gameplay-visuals-a-downgrade-is-a-shameful-example-of-ignora

          • MichaelPayneV

If someone is being ignorant ,that is YOU, because YOU keep believing that TPP will have the Screen Space Reflections and the improved Lighting, instead of getting used already with the idea that the PS4 is not as powerful as you think!

          • MrVux007

i said that it will have better drawing distance (and a BIG maybe when it comes to lighting)….but im sure it will have better drawing distance…and the hole is going deeper and deeper 🙂

          • MrVux007

also ty for ignoring the article :)(proves my point even more )

          • MichaelPayneV

I didn’t ignore it, i just call BS on it.

          • MrVux007

even more proves my point …sayonara muchina 🙂

          • MrVux007

PS there are other games that are allready running at 1080p and 60 fps beside MGSV….aswell a lot have been announced to be running on those setting in the future…you can say that those games arent open world, but it doesnt make them less complex to run on any platform….see where consoles will be in next 5 years from now,and you will see a lot of improvement….just like his predeccesor PS3(wich is now maxed out by MGSV) PS4 wont be maxed out soon enough…. 🙂 (PC are still years behind when it comes to programming and optimisation)

  • MichaelPayneV

    @Nyxus:disqus Too bad i can’t see sh*t!

  • Shadow Rex

So this is out in a day? Can’t pre-order or anything on steam yet. Am I missing something?

  • MichaelPayneV

Hey @Nyxus:disqus , i have something for you, i made GIF versions of each comparison since the 2 seconds Videos won’t load for sh*t, so here they are if maybe you can use them instead of the Video’s that won’t start for nothing!

    • What browser do you use? They work for me with Safari and Chrome (though sometimes you have to click on them first). Those gifs are very compressed.

      • MichaelPayneV

        Chrome Desktop

        At least i tried.

        • For me they work, also in Firefox.

          • AgitAngst

            Doesn’t work for me Firefox 34 Win7

          • Added a link at the bottom of the post to gifs of the comparisons. The quality is a bit lower though due to compression.

    • turkishgamer35

nice job man i know you gonna play this game on pc hope you enjoy

      • MichaelPayneV

Thanks, hopefully my PC can run it at Low 720p 24fps.

        • Alberto Sánchez

You are quite a comedian, eh? You are asking for it and complaining about the lack of tessellation and you have a nooby PC. Are you serious? Do you think your PC support tessellation?

          • MichaelPayneV

At Medium, YES, it supports, and i wasn’t complaining for Me, i’m not Selfish, i was complaining for the PC Community, actually not complaining, but requesting what the PC Community deserves.

Is all about the principle here!

          • It wasn’t a joke?

    • Alberto Sánchez

      Ambient Occlusion is the key.

      • MichaelPayneV

Yeah, but still not as good as it was during PAX 2012, but i’m sure people will MOD that eventually!

  • Kol Leqejza

wow, PC IS the masterrace. but i’m happy with my PS 3. i just finished my 101st hour in GZ on my ps3.

    • MichaelPayneV

Indeed, if you want the full Best Single Player MGSV experience, then PC is where to go!

    • Javier Sosa

I have 50. But I´m worried about the phantom pain because the low fps of ground zeroes in ps3.
I don´t know how well it could be in fights like with “those who don´t exists”.

      • Kol Leqejza

honestly, i will never get used to the looks of 60fps. always looks like a cheap telenovela or a softporn from the 90’s. my concern is the drawdistance. but even GTA V had relatively low drawdistance. looked absurd when a skyscraper popped up out of nowhere.so i can live with a few bushes & plants in TPP.

        • MichaelPayneV

First you say that your are happy with your PS3 version, and now you say that the Draw Distances concerns you?

From what you said, you are definitely not happy with your PS3 version, so i’m wondering what stops your from getting the PC Version?

  • Big_Boss88

Although I’ve played this a lot on PS4, still I’m so excited to play this again on my PC ;D ! 2 more days ooooh yeah <(^O^<)!

And to those wondering why there is no pre-order for GZ on STEAM, is because it don't get it (I think). We get to buy it on the day of release and it was the same with PS4 GZ, as there was no pre-order for it on PSN back then in March.

I hope we get to pre-order The Phantom Pain with special Limited Editions etc, when release date gets officially confirmed.

    • MichaelPayneV

I have a theory: What if GZ will go free for all platforms starting December 18th?

      • Big_Boss88

O_o that is a nice theory, but I guess we’ll have to wait just a little longer to find out xD.

        • MichaelPayneV

Here is why i think: The imagine Konami got with GZ Price was not good, so releasing GZ for Free would better their image as a Company, would get the attention of every PC Gamers, and eventually they would find out about The Phantom Pain, and then if GZ is also a well made port, then it will have almost every PC Gamer buy TPP, for 1 simple reason…because Ground Zeroes was free, and they would appreciate that and support the attitude, respect Konami for doing something right in a year in which almost every Gaming Company fukked it up (i’m Looking at your Ubisoft)

          • Mr.Pony

As marketing strategies go, that would be a bold move on their part. They would certainly gain on the Public side and getting respect in ways that Ubisoft and others haven’t because of the flawed games being released. But on the financial side it would be a huge risk, even if they have made sales on other platforms such as Ps3. At this point i think that Metal Gear is a well known franchise not needing to use such strategy to get attention to their games.

As far as theories go, I’m still hopping to hear the TPP release date on the Christmas Kojima Station. Please let it happen 🙂

          • MichaelPayneV

Even from a strategy point it would work, it would have TPP on PC sell like Fresh Bred!

          • Mr.Pony

It would have players interested in the game yes, if GZ was free but that doesn’t really translate in sales since we are talking about a PC version. Although I’ll say this, it is strange that there is still no other new information about the PC version on steam, that strikes me as weird. They aren’t either preoccupied with it because there is nothing to add or there is indeed something else going on.

Maybe they are playing us like fiddles…

          • MichaelPayneV

The same happened with the Cosnole versions, no word Pre-Order option or price attached to the Digital Download link will March 18th, the release date, so looks like the same is happening with the PC Version!

      • datdude

I just picked it up when it dropped to 9.99 on amazon…but free is always a bonus. I’m thinking it won’t happen though…they’ll probably try to perhaps bundle ground zeroes with phantom pain for those who haven’t played the prologue, or offer it at a discounted rate in conjunction with release of the phantom pain.

  • turkishgamer35

    looks great!!!!!

  • Rikimaru

I enjoy the fact that the MGSV games are getting released on PC too. Graphics look great on both!

  • twelveshots

So glad I built a PC recently. I really love the bokeh effect.

  • decoyF0XX

Those pictures just remind me of all my hours put into GZ! I swear I could find my way through Camp Omega if I were dropped in blindfolded

  • jesse white

    400$ ps4 is the same with 3000$ pc ? glad I have a ps4 .

    • MichaelPayneV

Nope, you only need a 400$ PC to run GZ at Extra High!

Also, Auto-Upvote, are you fukkin kidding?

  • MichaelPayneV

@Nyxus:disqus Thanks for uploading gif version, they are definitely better then what i did bellow, i made them using youtubegif, but the ones you put are far better!

  • datdude

Not too shabby, for either version.

  • Tye

I think the biggest eye-opener in difference will be in Phantom Pain. The difference between the console and PC version ought to be huge. Hopefully they go crazy and also implement other features like physx as well.

    • MichaelPayneV

Exactly, GZ for PC was announced after the Game was already developed with PS4 limitations in mind, when Phantom Pain was still in Developments when the PC Version was announced,so yeah, i have high hopes for TPP on PC, for the Graphics Options and quality overall!

  • Spencer

Oh yeah, better go out and blow $100’s on a new graphics card now! You know, for the one or two scenes that you’ll notice different reflections, or perhaps the slightly brighter base lights in the distance.

The only news here is that a bigger audience can play one of the best series in gaming history. That’s great. Any difference in graphics is negligible at best. It’s clear that everyone will be getting an amazing experience on their platform, and I can’t wait for my PS4 version of TPP 🙂

    • Javier Sosa

You don´t need to change the card for every game release.

  • MrVux007

Dayum, but the LIVE footage made me think that maybe cuz it was compressed that PC version doesnt have much of the difference…now with these screenshots made me 100% sure that i will not be buying the PC version…

    • MichaelPayneV

What, you just said that the the screenshots made you see that there is a huge difference between the PS4 and PC Version, and now you say that you will not buy the PC Version?

      That doesn’t make any sense!

      • MrVux007

cuz the screenshots confirmed to me what i tought about that LIVE footage and previus screenshots did…that there isnt much of a difference to make me buy this game on PC …. it does make sense since there isnt much of MIND BLOWING difference, especially from those gifs attached

        • MichaelPayneV

Isn’t much, can you just look at those 2 again and say with a straight face that is not a big difference?
          http://i.imgur.com/05GlxGa.gif

          http://i.imgur.com/l6fefaK.gif

          • To be honest I would not call it huge either. Yes, there is a clear difference, but to me huge would be like GTAV remastered.

          • MichaelPayneV

I guess we’ll have to see it in action to make a proper comparison, the Screen Space Reflections and Lighting then will be more noticeable!

          • MrVux007

            exactly

          • MrVux007

its not a big of a difference to me (and i was reffering to these gifs) -_- (IMO)

          • MichaelPayneV

            O.K. then.

  • MrVux007

Also i love how some people claim that PS4 cant handle better ligthing and drawing distance cuz of its HW….when its quite obvius that they made a couple of upgrades to the engine for the PC release (since the PC version wasnt planned from the beggining like the console were and gave them enough time for some rework)…hopefully they will add that in TPP for the consoles 🙂

    • MichaelPayneV

Dude, just stop giving yourself fake hopes that the PS4 can do more, HELL the Game is already running at 1080p 60fps, this is all the PS4 can do, for real, the Console really just can’t handle those feature, like the Screen Space Reflections and the improved Draw Distance, because, AGAIN, the game is running at 60fps.

This is just the truth, the PS4 is not as powerful as you may think, just wake up and open your eyes, The Phantom Pain during E3 2014 and TGS still had tons of Pop-In issues and some low Textures, so don’t expect better graphics for TPP on PS4 then GZ PS4 Graphics, HELL, even less, since also the GZ Demos before release from TGS looked better then the final product, actually looked like the PC Version.

      • Huh? You yourself said that TPP looked ‘a lot better’ back in September. 😉

        • MichaelPayneV

Yes, a lot better then it did at E3 2015, but it still had pop-ins all over the place!

          • Reports from people at E3 were that the game had less pop in than GZ. Either way the game was one of the most impressive games of the show.

          • MichaelPayneV

That’s because it was a Jungle area, so it makes sense for the game to render less object, since you are seeing less objects then in Camp Omega, that was an open Base, that is basically the Draw Distance, Lighting and Depth of Field benchmark for The Phantom Pain!

          • MrVux007

And also some people from TGS said that jungle gameplay had improvements in drawing distance(even tho i cant see shit cuz of the ammount vegetation)…but i believe they did some improvements

      • MrVux007

And you stop giving urself fake hopes aswell about PS4 capabilities 🙂 (and remind me how much programming experiance on consoles do you have again?)….

      • MrVux007

and are you still lying urself by thinking that the PAX version looked better ??? dude they allready confirmed that GZ version (with the blue tint) had been improved from the PAX…. -_-

        • MichaelPayneV

That’s because i still believe it looked better, and YES, the Textures and models quality had drastically improved, but the Rain, the Wind Effects, the Lighting was so much better in the PAX Demo, plus it had a moody atmosphere, that brown filter was also much better, it gave it the feeling of an 80’s Movie!

          • MrVux007

            yep keep digging that hole…..

          • MichaelPayneV

Then i also wish you good luck in believing that TPP will look on PS4 better then Ground Zeroes, and that TPP on PS4 won’t have pop ins.

    • Javier Sosa

Do you really think they use all this months to improve the pc version? This is just a temporary console exclusive because economics reasons.

      • MrVux007

i didnt say they used only this month to improve the PC version…but i do know that PC development started in mid-late development of MGSV ….giving them enough groundwork to start with from console versions of GZ…probably the same will be done for TPP

  • MichaelPayneV

Hey @Nyxus:disqus , Konami just updated the Website for Ground Zeroes with some more high quality Comparison and the Price for it.

    19.99$

If you are beginner to MGSV, then read this PC Gamer article.

  • XIFF-5

Last gif, there is no shadow for snake’s hair :/

On purpose? For some reason in-game storyline? O_O

    • MichaelPayneV

I think is a Fox Engine Glitch, even the GDC 2013 Hospital Scene has this glitch!

      • XIFF-5

I’m sure it is not a glitch, it is either made on purpose or a FOX ENGINE problem and can’t handle the hair shadows.
And these two may have be commonly the reasons behind that secret :/

        • MichaelPayneV

Is possible, we’ll have to play TPP to find out.

I still believe that Ishmael is Solidus, he looks just like Big Boss, and sounds just like Big Boss aka “The Perfect Clone”

          • Solidus wasn’t born before 72 though, so he is 12, or even younger, during TPP.

          • MichaelPayneV

Perfect Clone = Not Born, but Created

Have you forgot that, that Solidus was made to look as old as Big Boss?

          • Yes, created, but they make a point in MGS4 how they still have to be born like every human being. There’s the accelerated aging of course, but I don’t think a 12 year old Solidus would look like that.

          • MichaelPayneV

He would, and from the Metal Gear History i know around the 80’s he was keeping Big Boss Place, and now we know why, because the Real Big Boss, Venom Snake was busy with Skull Face and Cipher!

The only character that could sound like Kiefer in the Metal Gear universe is a Snake, and Ishmael is 99% a Snake.

          • If I had to guess I’d say Ishmael is a hallucination of Big Boss. Not sure what you mean with the first paragraph. In the 80s Solidus was fighting in the Liberian civil war.

          • MichaelPayneV

See, you said it yourself that Solidus was already well enough in the 80s to fight in a War, so what makes you think that he didn’t helped Snake Escape from the Hospital, and was then sent by Venom Snake to fight in Liberia?

          • The late eighties. He probably was around 17/18 years old by then. But the hospital scene takes place several years before that.

  • TracedInAir

I bought it on PS4 and Xbox One and I plan to get it on Steam. I have a GTX 970 so I should be able to max it. Cant wait!

  • PrinceHeir

Hmm might get the PC version maybe a few months after PS4.

But i really hope they add the custom OST for the PS4 version, since we can now use our USB’s for music playing(Sony said it’ll take awhile to be able to play on the system itself)
