Kojima would like an open-world MGS1 remake for PlayStation 4 (but has no time to create it himself)

In an interview held during Taipei Game Show, Kojima was asked an interesting question: If he were to remake one of his old games for PlayStation 4, which one would he choose? Kojima answered he’d like to see an open-world Metal Gear Solid 1. This is something he feels the fans would like to play as well.

Of course, Hideo himself is too busy with other projects to be able to work on something like that, so someone else would have to. But despite having the engine, tools and manpower, no one at Konami stepped forward to lead such a project.

Still, reliving the Shadow Moses Incident in a new way sounds tempting.

  • NakedSnake85

no! leave MGS1 alone for christs sake!

    • Ravenous

Why? I don’t see what the point of making it open-world is considering the setting of the game, but if they could leave the voice-acting, story, gameplay and general style intact, what would be so bad about a Fox Engine remake of MGS1?

      • NakedSnake85

the open world nature of mgsv its difficult to be applied in shadow moses..whats the point making an open world mgs1 in a preety much linear setting/storyline… and besides the shadow moses nostalgia card allready played by kojima.. some things need to remain as they are really.. enough.. mgs2 was a copy of mgs1 . mgs4 had shadow moses.. ground zeroes had also deja vu. i think thats enough.. IMO they should leave mgs1 alone

        • Jonny McLaurine

Yea a open world mgs1 ? What would be open bout it? Like some have said that MGS 1 took place in a linear story , I guess you could add some game play leading up to shadow Moses. I’m always up for a remake though. As long as they add some content and make it better. Though after playing as big boss in this one , I think it would be bad to then try to make us hate him. I think for a reboot/remake they would do something to do with changing the past/future/present! That could really work in a MGS story and for in nicely. Also doing that could just be a jumpstart to the MGS franchise. He’ll even get a diffent name for series. Kinda how they went with MGS after MG just because of 3d. I think it would be cool a different mgs1 with instead like solid working for BB and taking down liquid because something was changed in past that changes the story and reasons of story in present storyline. I think he could give BB justice and SS. Taking out the evil BB clones.

    • Dizz

If you don’t like the remake (once it would be completed), don’t play it and stick to the original.

Proper remakes are welcome imo. Resident Evil HD Remaster is an excellent example. Who doesn’t like better eye candy, more content and freedom, etc.

      • César H. Sandoval

You can always end up with an inferior remake, like Twin Snakes, for example.

        • Yeah but did that ‘damage’ the original in any way? MGS1 will always be remembered as the classic it is, remakes or not.

          • César H. Sandoval

I think there are Metal Gear games more in need of a remake than MGS1 (wich already has one); specially if he wants it to be open-world. Snake Eater, Guns of the Patriots or Peace Walker will be more apropiate for that.

      • Kol Leqejza

which is only a reamake of a remake… it’s the cube-version in pseudo HD

  • So_Sorrow

Mr.Kojima met with Avalanche studios not long ago. Related?

  • Nacrois

    I prefer a mg 1 and 2 remake

    • Ravenous

I sortof agree, MG1&2 remake first, and then MGS1 🙂

    • Edward Wokhands

Yeah, I agree. Even thought MGS1 is kind of old it’s still playable and isn’t past that “too different to identify with” barrier. I can go from MGS4 and GZ to the PS1 MGS1 still and it still feels okay. I can’t do the same with MG1 and 2, that’s such a massive leap that it just feels like a different series and you can tell that Kojima probably didn’t have the story fleshed out.

    • LukesAlike

      Yeah.

    • MrVux007

      yep,agreed

    • decoyF0XX

I never played those games X( so I’m sure I and many others would love to visit that time period in HD. MGS1 is perfect the way it is, It’s a one day mission in a small base and that’s all it should be. Then again, we shouldn’t doubt Kojima, I’m sure he has a major reason for wanting to take on MGS1. I’m hoping the next MGS game is either set in the WWII era with the boss as the protagonist or MG1 and 2 combined though.

      Anyway, here’s a Raiden sketch I did!

      • Raymondius

        Awesome, really nice! 😀

        • decoyF0XX

          Thanks!

    • James

      YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Big_Boss88

Kojima-san please if you ever decide to make more MGS after Silent Hills, please do Metal Gear 1 + 2 remake ;O! It would be dream come true for many oh them feeeeeels!

MGS1 is good the way it is in my opinion, but maybe share some more light to Outer Heaven Uprising and Zanzibar with high tech graphics, longer story details, VA, maybe open world too etc. Solid Snake vs Gray Fox and Big Boss (+ all others) in Fox Engine= omg….

    • PrinceHeir

      Yes please!

Can you imagine Solid Snake vs Big Boss, Father vs Son, as well as Solid Snake’s Best friend Gray Fox One on One in a middle of a minefield!

      That would be Godly!!

      http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/098/3/c/big_boss_by_tyller16-d4vensm.jpg

      • Big_Boss88

Yes it would ;D, lets just hope Kojima-san and his co-workers stay with game developing long enough so we know what happens. Kojima-san don’t seem to get older so…
Silent Hills comes first though, which takes a while I guess :). Or maybe not so long, because I assume it will be more linear game like previous SH.

I’m not the kind of player who only cares about graphics, but they are awesome bonus in games. I mean Fox Engine just looks so godly. Only imagining MG 1 and 2 with Fox Engine makes me so excited hehe ;)…

Do you remember Snake? The feel of battle? The clashing of bone and sinew?

        • Jonny McLaurine

Yes give me Mg 1 and mg 2 but let me play as big boss, tired of being the good guy in games. I wanna be bad

          • Big_Boss88

That could be awesome, to see the happenings from Big Boss’ point of view.
Or then could play as both somehow. Maybe like in some games, gotta choose which one of 2 characters you play as. Solid Snake or Big Boss ;D…

    • So_Sorrow

      No more remakes. Instead:

      Metal Gear: FOXHOUND
7 separate episodes diving deeper into the members individual stories. Very varied gameplay. Released every 3 months during development of the game coming after TPP. Each episode very ambitious but short and sweet. Fox engine allows for much variety.

Mantis: Destroy village, KGB work, wreaking mind havoc, burn things, throw furniture at people.
Raven: “Predator” gatling scene type gameplay, destructible environments, total mayhem.
Octopus: MGS4 eastern europe style, deception and spy stuff, lots of manipulating.
Wolf: Guest starring Saladin in the beginning, rescue then… well, sniping.
Liquid: For all my snake heads out there.
Ocelot: I have no idea. Revolvers and torture?
Ninja: Kill Dr.Clark, then escapades 2003-2005.

I’ve heard that they want to make this, they just don’t know it yet.

      • Sounds interesting, but please no episodic delivery.

        • Big_Boss88

Aye totally agree, I hate it when more and more games seem to start releasing games in episodic format after Tell Tale. Don’t remember was there much of them before that.

Well anyway there is RE Revelations 2 and that Life is Strange game which come to my mind at the moment. Maybe few others too.

        • Jonny McLaurine

Agree. Episodes work with games like TWD, GoT, narrative border lands. In a metal gear game? Nah, I’d rather just have some DLC, to expand into mg1 an mg2. Truthfully we already set up for it. Also in TPP if they add new country’s as DLC to expand story. I’m not even adverse to playing as a different person in DLC to get different narrative points.

        • So_Sorrow

I agree, i also dislike the current focus on DLC, season passes and whatnot.
In this case I just thought it could make it easier on us while we wait for the next numbered MGS. Also, this would be ambitious and no cash-in so you’d be drip-fed with quality content. 🙂
Just trying some creative thinking instead of craving that release day. 🙂

      • Big_Boss88

Sound pretty cool actually, but what Nyxus said below 🙂 no episodic.

Who knows what Kojima-san gonna do after Silent Hills. Maybe a new IP, ZOE3(although idea got cancelled) or another chapter in Metal Gear saga. All is fine to me.

      • Shalashaska

Honestly, it seems really nice but I hate the wait period in between episodes so I’m inclined towards.. PLEASE NO EPISODES :/
plus.. The episode Thing should be for PURELY narrative games.. We keep pushing for this in all games and in the next 10 years, we’ll be playing all games in 10 episodes and 20$ a piece.. :/ P.s – We are already doing that right now with forms of DLC where companies cut off a bit of the MAIN GAME gameplay and call it DLC 😛

        • So_Sorrow

Hey fellas, glad some of you liked it.
A lot of valid points about episodic content though. I shall reconsider my pitch! 😉

      • GraalOtonami

If they did this in the Fox Engine as minigames, they could sell it as DLC for Ground Zeroes for $2/3 each as a kind of fun little teaser.

    • Will

I agree with you, MGS1 is perfect as it is, maybe they could just re-release MGS The Twin Snakes in HD along with MGS PO, there’s no need to remake it, at least not now.

But what us fans really need after TPP is a MG1 + 2 remake to close the Big Boss story.

    • No Place For Hayter

When fighting Gray Fox in the minefield I felt like the ultimate badass, it does not look like much in a top down 2d pixeled game but just think about it, you are fist fighting in a minefield how awesome is that?

Agreed about how it feels to kill Big Boss, after playing the other MGS games and I come back to replay the MG games I always feel really bad for killing Big Boss, lol.

      • Big_Boss88

I can imagine how intense fight that would be in the middle of minefield…and how it would look with graphics like Fox Engine ;), not to forget voice acting!

Yeh ;(…Solid was pretty nasty using that lighter and spray on Big Boss.

  • The Law

I am not exactly sure how would open world MGS1 work, since you pretty have to go very linear to make the story work.
Colonel “Snake, hurry up and rescue the DARPA Chief being held on second floor basement”
Snake “Nah, I feel like exploring this amazing open world, I just found this cool underground warehouse. Wait…what is that….Metal Gear! It can’t be!”
    Time paradox!

I am all for the remake, but in condition that only graphics would be upgraded. Everything else must be kept precisely the same, otherwise the game would be ruined forever.

  • César H. Sandoval

It’s fine if they want a remake, but no open-world please, Shadow Moses is fine as a solitary Base, we don’t need to go “Skyrim” about it.

    • Edward Wokhands

Hopefully he just means that there will be more routes to your destination and larger open areas to get creative in. MGS1 really was a tiny environment.

      • César H. Sandoval

It was a quick one-man mission, with a deadline te rescue the hostages and disarm the nukes before the terrorists could do more damage, being tiny and in the course of a day is part of it’s charm IMHO.

        • No Place For Hayter

Agreed, if I were to re-create any MGS game the game itself would remain fundamentally unchanged, I would only make it on a new engine so it looks amazing and add stuff to it (not to much though, the games have enough in them and you would not want to bloat them with unnecessary stuff) but I would not change the camera angles the objectives or how to do them or how the game itself it played.

          • César H. Sandoval

I’m fine with a remake, but Shadow Moses should stay as one military base on an island, I don’t need to roam across Alaska for months. But if they do remake it, they should redesign the levels to match the gameplay mechanichs, or else it will be umbalanced as Twin Snake was.

        • Edward Wokhands

Yeah I agree, I love that game. But overall when I go back to it, it feels too small. *possible MGS4 spoiler (In case you haven’t played it somehow (I know, unlikely))*

In MGS4 when Snake has the flashback it’s really apparent how small that environment was. If it was a real place it would be a little bigger in places. I’m not saying it’s bad, just that the tech probably held Kojima back a little bit. I love that game so much, I might play it tonight.

  • From The Distant Future

But guys! Remember, “Who Cares About Anything! We Want TPP! Waaa!”

    • César H. Sandoval

You can always play the nostalgia card with fanboys lol

  • BlackLesnar

The only opportunity for open world in MGS1 is after Snake gets the snowmobile. Unless you can do open world swimming at the beginning or that open forrest area like in MGS4.

    • The Law

Or you can always just let Ocelot go open world on you.

      • BlackLesnar

        Or open world Cyborg Ninja.

  • Golgari

I’m not sure that someone can do this really these days. MGS1 is a masterpiece. I’m not sure there is a real reason to touch it at all. Remember Twin Snakes? It was a mess and I’m not even talking about cut-scenes or bad voices… I’m talking just about the gameplay that was copied from MGS1 to MGS2 engine and result was unbalanced mess from some other dev.

MGS1 is a specific game for the specific platform. I’m not sure that even Kojima can remake it to the open world unless he will change boss fights, gameplay and story. It won’t be the same experience with codec for example (Open world or sandbox design requires something that is from Ground Zeroes/TPP). It will be something different.

  • Rikimaru

Whatever he does, we will all be impressed, thats just him…a genious.

  • DalgCaisMike

if we could unmake Rising that would be great or if we could be injected with nanomachines that suppress our memory of Rising, that would be better.

    • César H. Sandoval

Kojima loves Rising, so sucks to be you.

      • Big_Boss88

        I love it too ;).

  • PrinceHeir

Only studio that can pull this off.

    Is just Kojima Productions 😛

Not even Naughty Dog can do this game justice(it would probably lose all of its flair that made the series unique and stand out from other games)

  • Plissken

Am I the only one who felt like an idiot after playing MGS1? For example, when you first hear Miller’s voice, it sounded familiar. Probably because I heard Liquid speaking 10 minutes prior. Using the PAL cards to “deactivate” Rex when active or activate it when inactive. Never fighting Decoy Octopus because he was the DARPA chief. Having to find Meryl’s frequency, I just started at 140.00 and went up, .01, .02, etc. That stuff was really obvious and I missed it. So did Snake, even for having an IQ of 180

    • So_Sorrow

He also hid in alaska with his dogs for 6 years after killing Big Boss twice. During this time he managed to escape the fact that a perfect clone of his former arch enemy is the president of the USA and a another clone looking just like snake himself is the commander of his former unit.
      Huh?

      • From The Distant Future

We have to go along with the idea that Liquid is an excellent impersonator of Miller. Like, how Big Boss speaks Russian fluently despite the fact we never really heard him speak it. Him hiding in Alaska not knowing about the two other Snakes seemed plausible since he shut himself from the world.

        • So_Sorrow

Relax. A joke. Stupid one in this crowd perhaps.

          • No Place For Hayter

            Made me laugh 🙂

        • No Place For Hayter

Now that I think about it his impersonation of Miller makes a lot more sense now considering he gets to personally know miller in TPP (I know it is a bit of a guess but considering he is in TPP it would surprise me more if Liquid never meets Miller in the game)

  • Kol Leqejza

honestly, am i the only one who’s bored of MGS 1?

    • No Place For Hayter

Yes, lol. Honestly it is not my favorite MGS game but it is still truly excellent, amazing and the game itself still surprises me in todays gaming environment, and just like the rest of the MG games I could never get bored of it (even the first two MG games….. Ok maybe the first MG game drags, but the second MG is where it all starts for me)

      • Kol Leqejza

c’mon you can finish MG 1 in about 2 hrs. it’s just as arcade & fun as ground zeroes! MGS 1 got a remake with twin snakes, got a novel + digital graphic novel, it got an dedicated extra-op in GZ and so on. MGS 2 is the best selling metal gear & it surpassed MGS 1 story & gameplaywise. the logical step would be to remake metal gear 1 & 2 into one massive open world experience in africa & asia. let kojimaproductions L.A. let handle to remake MGS 1-4 (maybe even peace walker) or another american studio altogether. cause there are a lot intolerant people who just don’t want to play the old games in preperation for TPP. those remakes could come out in between new releases (just like ac!d, portable ops, rising & PW).

  • Golgari

A lot of people will disagree with me on that. But I don’t want Kojima to make remakes at all. I like all games that he created and I want Kojima to move forward.
I want MGS6 but I want MGS6 to continue the story of the franchise. I want Kojima to move forward.

Younger generation of devs should remake MG1-2 at KojiPro. This could be a perfect opportunity for disbanded Metal Gear Rising team.

    • PrinceHeir

For me i would like the MSX remakes because there’s a lot of things that already got retcon. Not to mention the game has tons of amazing boss fights like Big Boss vs Solid Snake, Solid Snake vs Gray Fox.

I compare the remake of MSX games to Crisis Core FFVII, Mobile Suit Gundam Origin. We already know what happens in the past and future timeline, but we want to relived the moment where it all began. We know what happens to Zack at the end of the game, but that doesn’t make it any less sad on what happened to him. We know Char became the Red Comet, but we want to relived how he became the infamous soldier that he is.

I guess these kind of works are for the older fans who have been in the series since the beginning.

And Kojima mentioned he’s finding a successor to him with no luck. He’s like Miyazaki, It’s hard to find someone that can foot the same stepping stone that both did.

Only person i think can do it is Shinji Mikami, but he has different philosophy and mindset in game development. But both are innovators and have made huge contributions in its respective genres(Horror, Stealth)

    • No Place For Hayter

Agreed, I want the games to stay the games, they where made of the time with specific things in mind, don’t remake one of the old games and try to make it something its not. That being said I do want a remake of the first two MG games, because they were made before “MGS” existed in Kojimas mind and are retconed to death they are also 2d and not 3d thus making them not really a part of “MGS” and they are really an unwritten series of events which are incredibly important to the series as a whole.

  • I believe what he means by other projects is remaking MG1-2.
He has mentioned remaking MGS1 on a few occasions, it will happen imo.

  • Batzi

Don’t remake any Metal Gear game if it’s not Kojima developing it.

  • Cyberlum

It’s time to leave Snakes behind. End the series with the one that started it all – the Boss.

    • Big_Boss88

So awesome, yep that would kick ass too.

But there is room for one more Solid Snake and Big Boss game. I guess we see after 5-10 years ;).

      • Mini gear

5-10 years and well get a release window for tpp too ^_^

    • decoyF0XX

      I’m waiting for this!

    • ThreeMadFrogs

Whoa, that is awesome. Who made this? I’d love to have a comic series about The Boss and the Cobras.

  • Solid

    My Dream ! *-*

  • Vegas

I can’t see why Kojima would do an open world remake of MGS1 since there is already “the twin snakes”‘. Now, MG 1 and 2 are still messed up and a remake would be nice. Not open world tho.

  • Dtoxz

How crazy AWESOME would it be if David Hayter WAS in MGS TPP by the first half being played as Big Boss and the second half actually being a MG 1 and 2 remake as Solid Snake? I swear my head would explode. If it was 200 times the size of Ground Zeros (combined with his 20 some odd hours of cutscenes) it could be long enough to hold a dual story like that I bet! That would be amazing!

  • Solid

Kojima you can remake MGS1 but just with the new engine, not open world.
    And MG 1 – 2 ”Remake” = Metal Gear Solid 6

  • Mack Ayash

Merge Mg1, 2 and MGS and remaker in fox engine. Anyway, I’ll take whatever Kojima gives me.

  • ThreeMadFrogs

I’m sure there are dozens of studios that would love a chance to remake MGS.

  • Tanooki

I know I’m going to be in the minority here but we really don’t need a remake of MG1 and 2 let alone a remake of MGS1. Just enjoy the games the way they are and put Metal Gear to rest after TPP. The last thing I want to see is this series being ran into the ground and if Kojima isn’t going to be involved anymore then I’m not interested.

    • No Place For Hayter

I only think it would be run into the ground if Kojima stops making them. Even though I would like a remake of MG1 and 2 I will probably never see them, Kojima only makes games when he wants to with themes and vision among many other great things so he won’t make a game simply to fill a story gap. The original MG games are excellent games and on many levels don’t need to be remade I simply want the story to fit with the rest of MGS and to relive the awesome moments in those games in a 3d game, so I want remakes of the MG games for some reasons there is just as many reasons to not remake it so I see why you say that and while I mostly agree I do kinda hope for a remake of the first MG games. I completely agree when Kojima leaves 95% of my interest in MGS will vanish.

Also Welcome (not as in your first time here but as a first time comment welcome), despite being a minority (which is a + btw) we are glad to have even more opinions around here 🙂

      See you space cowboy.

MGS1 only needs a graphical upgrade, but the game design must be kept untouched, camera angles during cutscenes and gameplay must be the same as the original, and a nice little option to swap from MGS1 PC like graphics to FOX ENGINE visuals might be a nice addition (like the Halo anniversary)

MG2ss.. needs to feel like MGS1 in that matter, the game is long enough to warrant a full retail price tag…
MG 1 can be included since its a shorter game (don’t hate on me but since been the 1st game doesn’t have a lot of story to cover since that game was made on the premise of sneaking, the 2nd one was the 1st KOJIMA lecture-game ever made)

but for now the world can spend 8 years without another MGS1 remake as long as the MSX games get remade… specially to fill the void after the phantom pain and I need answeres in how Miller after going on full” I HATE MURICA AND WANT TO KILL EVERYONE CAUSE I DON’T HAVE LEG AND ARM” mode ended up as a drill instructor… in murica

    We know you Kojima!!!! 😀

i feel like the next step should be a remake but with mg 1, mg 2, and mgs 1 in one big game. all 3 of them together take awhile, but seperate they can be as short as 90 minutes long. it would be cool to see

  • Mini gear

off topic but with mother base invasion do you think there will be a coooldown before you can be attacked? I don’t want my base destroyed every 4 minutes

    • Mr.Pony

Offline mode conserves what you have in your base it seems, as for online I’m guessing you have to be successful in infiltrating without detection in order to steal anything at all and I’m guessing it won’t be that easy to sneak in an entire base with multi-platforms, cameras, soldiers and drones

  • quintimnia

i dont doubt kojima-san. if he wants to do it, he’ll do it. and he’ll do it good. of course we need a mg1 and mg2 reMADE, but mgs 1 remake is necessary too. ( and since mgs1 is my favourite, lol )

i definitely would rather play some mg1 mg2 missions in fox engine but i would definitely still eat this up no doubt

I wonder if Kiefer is feeling the same ;D, maybe not as he is not a huge gamer. Or then maybe he play MGSV through. He better do it!

    One line from the writer,

“I think the date will be announced during the last week of February followed by a worldwide launch in June.”
Is there some special event coming in the end of February? I’m not sure…well except that 24th UK thing I guess? But I know GDC is on 2nd-6th March.
Well anyway lets hope it goes somewhat like this ;D.

It’s strange that I been gaming a lot since mid 90’s but I have never excitingly waited a game so damn much before. To check everyday news of the game’s development, just to know when I get to play it and and stuff about the plot etc…. Only Kojima can achieve giving this feeling to me XD.

Knowing that TPP is almost here make me happy and I think I’m honestly gonna cry tears of joy when it release ;).

  • FOX

Hell yeah that’s my favorite mgs game

    • MichaelPayneV

      Thanks for sharing.

  • Cipher

    No need for a remake
he should make a new MGS IV about Outer Heaven & Zanzibarland but with a different story
a bigger story , with open world gameplay

    • MichaelPayneV

I think they should keep that time period Remake for the Metal Gear Movie.

  • Mini gear

even kiefer wants the game out he tweeted :p he’s the only guy kojima might lisghten to

    • Big_Boss88

      He did :O!? That’s really great thx <3 !

  • DarpaLT.Sigma_

I prefer MGS portable ops remake for next gen consoles!! I’m just so in love with the story of big boss. It would be more epic for his legacy ending.

    New pic!

    • MichaelPayneV

For the love of Kojima (God) add Tessellation already, the low polygon edges are killing me.

EDIT: Thanks for sharing the Screenshot anyway, looks great.

      • Shalashaska

haha saw this coming xD Dont worry, man.. he is probably testing the console versions.. there is a chance that he’ll have added it in the Pc version but dont get your hopes too high though.. the game was initially made for the consoles so it maybe just a port (without tessellation)

        • MichaelPayneV

That would be a shame considering GZ Steam Sales made with little to no promotion from Konami nor Kojima Productions.

          • Did they provide sales data on the Steam version of GZ?

          • MichaelPayneV

They said that the sales of GZ on Steam are “Solid”, no exact number.

          • Shalashaska

Get the feeling they are just releasing it to please PC users… well hey.. atleast they are releasing it

          • MichaelPayneV

Nah, they brought it to PC when they realized that the PS4 and X1 are not as good as they could have been, at releease in 2013 being already years behind 2013 gaming Hardware, therefore on PC they can do the things they can’t on Consoles, like the better lighting and the Depth of Field that makes the Cinematography Night and Day difference.

If you are a film Critic you should know that an image without Depth is pale, that Depth of Field changes everything.

          • Shalashaska

Agreed. but honestly, I dont think it was because of the hardware, I think that they just wanted every type of gamer to enjoy the game so they released it multi-platform 🙂
Kojima can release it on all platforms around the world and i’m still betting that he will always be loyal to PStion no matter what 😛
As We all know and agree that Pcs are much more powerful than consoles.. sadly for pc gamers, pc isnt taken into consideration when making games.. lets be honest, what ps4 and xbone are now, Pc was years ago, but devs never used that hardware .. sad for pc gamers..good for console gamers .. so it’s like a 50-50 thing.. I own a xbox 360 but if i had cash, i’d have probably made my own gaming PC 🙂

          • MichaelPayneV

Or maybe i’m looking too much in to things and is just Hideo showing that he did not forgot where his careere started, with PC Development, and also an appologize for all those years Konami ignored the PC Market.

About PC Gaming, why the Hell haven’t we moved to Blu-Ray already, why is PC Gaming, yet years ahead with its Technology, but years back when it comes to the Disk?

          • Shalashaska

true that… konami has ignored the pc market for TOO long, glad they didnt do the same with TPP :/

Im guessing that is because blu-ray is an expensive thing and is completely useless considering that you install the pc game onto your hardrive..Actually, isnt it good its not blu-ray? .. if it were blu ray, you’d be paying more for a game that youve installed onto your PC, with consoles, blu ray perhaps is good because it can store alot and is faster but thats not needed in a pc because a pc stores the game files on the pc HDD itself.. so yea.. its good its not blu-ray, yes ?

          • MichaelPayneV

Good point, but still it feels weird.

          • Could you please stop bringing up platforms/gaming systems, also in the future?

          • MichaelPayneV

From what i remember i’m not the one who started, but maybe i’m wrong, and in that case i apologize.

          • It’s just that it seems to negatively affect the atmosphere here, and that would be a shame. We are all fans of Metal Gear, so we should focus on what brings us together in stead of what drives up apart (in this case, the choice of platform). Everyone will get a great game regardless, and we should be happy about that.

          • MichaelPayneV

That’s true, but at the same time i want my MGS Community to have the Best experience, which is why i tried to convince a part of this community to get MGSV on PC for example for the Depth of Field alone that drastically improves the Cinematography, Night and Day difference.

Anyway is sad that Consoles Only Gamers still think that we brag about PC when we recommend them to get a PC or get a Specific Game on PC, when what we actually want is them to just get a better experience and make a good investment for future Gaming, therefore recommending them the platform for that, but unfortunately they will always find excuses to not get a PC, so i guess is a waste of time.

That’s all i had to say. Have a nice day and No, i promise that i won’t even try to convince console only MGS fans to get a PC, you have my word.

          • Thanks for understanding, hope we can leave the platform discussions behind us. 🙂

          • MichaelPayneV

Yes sire, the moment we signed on metalgearinformer .com we left our countries and platform behind, and follow a comom goal, Metal Gear News.

          • Big_Boss88

            Well spoken Boss.

          • MrVux007

this is why i wish there was a block button on Disqus comment sections….

    • Big_Boss88

Holy shit Big Boss look so awesome in that 😀 !

      • Liquid25

        He always looks awesome! 😛

    • RJRO

Bullpup assault rifle. And is it a different chopper?

      • Ravenous

And IIRC the Famas entered service in ’81 or ’82, so it’s absolutely a good chance that the weapon in the pic is an early Famas.
I hope it is, ’cause I’ve had a thing for Famas’ since about ’98, and many of you probably remember a certain someone using the Famas when the Mk.23 just wasn’t enough for the situation 😉

        • RJRO

it has to be a FAMAS but maybe KoJiPro add weapons from more modern times like the revolvers that Ocelot usues in the MGO trailer those are Mateba Unica (made in 1996) so either the game story is developed in many years or they just add modern weapons.
The weapons that i most want to appear are the MG3 (from peace walker) the FN FAL and the W 2000 that sniper rifle is just perfect.

          • Ravenous

Oooh, the MG3 would be awsome to see in all of the Fox Engine’s glory OO
The bullpup really does have alot of similarities with the Famas G2, but the stock in the pic doesn’t seem to have the raised bump at the very end of it like Famas’ have…could just be a different stock on it though

          • RJRO

well tecnicaly it can be based on the Famas remember that KojiPro is not using the real names of the weapons ( they didn’t buy the license for the weapons)so they can change a few things here and there, like the stock that you mention before.

  • MichaelPayneV

Rocksteady for the Win…i mean Arkham Knight is probably their last Game, so how about continue their career by remaking MGS1?

  • MichaelPayneV

Is it just me or the weapons in Ground Zeroes and TPP Gameplay Demos feel like they have little to no Recoil, making them feel like basically toys?

If there is 1 think Kojima productions should fix in TPP is the Recoil, i want something closer to Mafia 2 or Spec Ops: The Line, HELL even closer MGS3, that game has some strong Recoil.

Yes, yes, i know you’ll all say that “MGS is not a shooter noob”, but still the weapons could use more recoil, the shooting is just too easy.

    • Ravenous

I can agree to some extent that firing a weapon in GZ feels alittle flat, but I really don’t think they should make the weapons have even more recoil as that would make it feel completely absurd.

Having served a year in the Norwegian armed forces in my younger days, I have to say that even at the age of 19 and weighing only 60-ish kgs, I fired my H&K 7,62MM G3A4 Battle Rifle with such proficiancy and recoil-management that I could fire a 20-round burst and hit my target with 16-18 rounds at a distance of 50 meters.

In most games I’ve played, I’ve always thought that the way games portray recoil and the cone of fire when using fully automatic weapons is waaaaay off for anyone with training on automatic weapons.
Take the rifles in GZ for instance, they are 5,56MM rifles IIRC, and I’ve used 5,56 rifles as part of my weapons familiarization way back when. And I distincly remember that my whole platoon where laughing about how easily controlled the recoil of the H&K 416’s we where testing were compared to our G3s.

To sum it up in a short version: making the weapons in MGS have more recoil would make it look like Big Boss (The ULTIMATE soldier of the century) had never held a gun before, much less actually fired one, so I think that KP should rather make the sound alittle more impressive and alittle more muzzleflash than give them more recoil and making them harder to control.

      My 2 cents anyways

      • Big_Boss88

My thoughts too, what you wrote in short version at the end.
BB is so experienced in combat and handling guns that he don’t get much recoil.

        • Ravenous

Well, the recoil is still there, but with experience comes techniques that minimizes the effect the recoil has on the shooter, and in MGS there are next to none more experienced than Big Boss 😉
I just hope they reduce the ADS (aiming down sights) muzzleclimb in TPP so we don’t get the unnatural need to manually lower the sights to get back on target after firing more than one round 🙂

          • MichaelPayneV

Hopefully this Lack of Recoil in TPP is only on Weapons with fully upgraded grip, hopefully is only for the Machine Guns with Suppressor

      • MichaelPayneV

The Shooting is just too easy, even compared to MGS3, THAT Game had great Recoil to its weapons, so no, please, don’t damage controll this, it is what it is, the weakest aspect of MGSV is the Shooting Gameplay, and it should get fixed, or at least raise the Recoil at Hard Difficulty. and even if it doesn’t get fixed, i can live with that, is just worth mentioning to Konami, to help them imporve the Game, to make it more challenging.

This is not comming just from me, but also from someone new to the MGS Series, and when i asked him what he like and didn’t liked about GZ, he said that he love the Directing, the Soundtrack, the Script, the Graphics, the Animation, but didn’t liked the Weapons at all, and as a MGS Fan i agree, the weapons don’t feel strong as they shoold.

  • My_FutureDream

I don’t know how I feel about an open world mgs1 game to be honest. I try to imagine how it would play and all i see is an epic game but a short one :S

The thing is, I expect mgs5 story to end up to the point of MG2. Maybe somehow kojima will re-write MG1 and 2’s story and put it in mgs5 to finally complete the series in a full circle that actually makes sense. I don’t see a MG1 and 2 remake happening as a separate game, just because we all know it will be the best game ever and I think it’ll damage mgs5’s value. These are all just my opinions though xD
