Korean language support confirmed for MGSV: The Phantom Pain

During an online conference from Sony Computer Entertainment Korea, Hideo Kojima confirmed in a pre-recorded video that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will support Korean language. This means subtitles and menus will both be displayed in Korean.

At Taipei Game Show Kojima also confirmed traditional Chinese support, and at Igromir the developer announced improvements to the Russian language options, which were later added to Ground Zeroes with a patch, so it seems like the studio is serious about localization for this installment of the series.

    who cares? just joking ;)…

    • Koreans care (so far over 7700 Koreans have visited this site). 😉

      • César H. Sandoval

They will just play it for MGO and turn it into an e-sport lol j/k.

      • MichaelPayneV

Yong is Korean as well, so this is good news for him.

        • turkishgamer35

cool didn’t know he is korean olso michael i have a question for you my friend said mgs 5 have map editor and people create their own missions like in the little big planet is this true?

          • MichaelPayneV

Hope so, if is true the verry first thing i would do is recreate “Snake Eater” Map, and then Los Santos.

          • turkishgamer35

            that would be great!!!

        • Ravenous

Wonder if he’ll bother using it though, his english is rather good, and if he’s like me, he’ll find the mix of languages odd.

I remember the one instance where I was tempted into trying a Norwegian install of The Battle For Middle-Earth 2, and I found it horribly awkward and weird with Norwegian text in what should IMHO be kept in it’s original language. I believe I reinstalled it to English within 4 minutes XD

But then again, I’ve turned off subtitles on everything English since the age of 10 Oo

  • Batzi

Hope they do arabic. I remember they said something about that a long time ago.

  • turkishgamer35

    lucky Koreans 🙂

  • MichaelPayneV

This “Awesome Mix” should be an Easter-Egg in MGSV as a Cassette Tape.

Tell me you wouldn’t want to listen to this while playing MGSV, and i’ll C.Q.C yo ass. Just kidding, i just want MGSV to have Good Classic 80’s Music, including AC/DC Highway to Hell (Which fits the whole “Already a Demon” Vibe)

    • Shalashaska

I LOVE THESE ! 😀 haha imagine playing TPP and headshoting soldiers on the first song in the BGM xD aww man.. these songs make go like : where did all the awesome soul-full music go .. now it’s all crappy auto-tuned music with nudity all over the screen

    • turkishgamer35

      amazing

    • Kol Leqejza

in the ps3 versions of GZ & TPP you can import ur own music, so…

      • MichaelPayneV

I know, which is why i want this feature on the PC Version, since is actually easier to implement when you have a PC.

  • MichaelPayneV

Now only if they add Romanian support, that would be nice, Romanian Subtitles.

  • They’re also making it in brazilian portuguese, but guess what?! Brazilians still can’t pre-order. Wth Kojima….

    • Yofiel Malachi Yacov

Neither can the rest of the world (on pc)

  • Shalashaska

All of us waiting for a confirmed released date :'(
Good to hear that they’ll support so many languages though.. its really good 🙂
(haha damn.. sorry for double-posting that meme.. Apparently I forgot that i posted it in the previous thread too.. I made it quite sometime ago and then forgot I already used it xD)

    • Crazyboi_06

Fuck all the little shit…..when am i gonna get a damn release date!!!!!! lol

    • ThreeMadFrogs

      That’s fucking adorable.

      • Shalashaska

The people in spain want snake to talk in spanish. They are crazy. Their spanish sounds so bad. It seems like all the characters have the same voice. And they use stupid phrases like “I shit in the milk”. wtf?

    • Yeah a Metal Gear game in Dutch would be pretty awful as well. And in what context would that sentence even be used? 😛

      • RJRO

“i shit in the milk” means “me cago en la leche”. Milk is used, in this case, for your luck. You could translate to “i shit in my luck”.

      • Javier Sosa

They dont say Get the hell out of here, they say Get out of here shiting milk.
Imagine playing battlefield or call of duty like that. They need to be neutral if a translation will be used in another countries.

    • Invader_skoodge

Yeah, there hasn’t been a Spanish voice over that really nailed it with the translation. The only one I like to hear in spanish is “caballeros del zodiaco” Saint Seiya. That opening is nothing like the original and still badass.

    • Grandalf

I’m spanish, but i anwser you in english. Alfonso Vallés ( Solid Snake in spanish )
was the best snake i’ve heard in my life. Hayter, Otsuka ( The original
voice ), Sutherland, i like his voices too. Javier, are you from Spain?
or are you Latin American? The Latin spanish subtitles on ground
zeroes are too bad ” Botar la cinta ” what the hell is “botar”? the neutral spanish word for that, and, for the context is ” tirar ” ( throw )
i know what is ” botar ” coz i’ve played a lot of online games with
them, but, and the rest of the spanish from spain ppl? Do you copy? (
      ¿me copias? ) Wtf? it means, ” ¿me recibes? ” ” I shit in the milk ”
omg… dont be sooooo literally… ” Me cago en la leche ” its like ”
Holy crap! ” in english. Hostil! ( ¡ Es Hostil ! ) are you fu cking kidding me ? that should be like ( El enemigo ), or ( Intruso )…

  • turkishgamer35

great cosplay almost looks like a screenshot from mgs5

    • Venom_Sina

Now that’s what I’m talking about!!!

    • Big_Boss88

      So darn amazing 🙂 !

  • Venom_Sina

Good for Korean natives. They’re gonna enjoy the game more and more.I hope they do this good.
But recently I re-watched the trailer from Gamescom’14.As you may know, the trailer was form the Afghanistan portion. There were some texts on the walls and on boards that was written in local Afghan Language(which is pashtoo,a branch of the Persian Language),and I gotta say,the texts doesn’t make any sense!!! It’s like someone changed the language to Persian and smashed the keyboard to see what comes up!!! I really hope they fix this issue.I can help them if they want!!!

    • angryyoungman

Make a tweet about it something! Get their attention
Because I hate it when they get languages wrong
You’d think they’d actually visit Afghanistan or have an afghan on board

  • Ninja_Se7eN

    Good news for Korean folks!

Unfortunately this particular piece of news isn’t very relevant to me :P.

  • Typical

What we really need to know is will the japanese version have english subbs?

  • Marmaduke

    I demand Hungarian subtitles

  • Matthew Croy

at least he didn’t wait to make this the sole tpp related announcement at the next game convention…

  • Zlatan

    what about africaans?

  • Guest

    What about european languages?
Anyway, the more languages there are, the more time we have to wait.
With english and japanesse would be enough…

  • PrinceHeir

    That’s nice ^^

MGS is getting more exposure to other parts of the world which is good ^^

  • Mini gear

kojima needs to give a RD so I can be excited about other news

  • kiki

it’s 9 years from MGS3 Subs that last korean localized. T_T

  • Big_Boss88

I’ll do just fine with English and Japanese :D, but the more the merrier I guess!

Don’t worry Kojima no need to add Finnish language! Just gimme the game <3.

  • Hanna-Mari

As long as there isn’t Finnish subs, I will be fine. 😀 Translations…

  • Mini gear
