New images and a release date for Play Arts Ocelot figure

The Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Ocelot (aka Shalashaska) figure by Play Arts has received four new images and a release date. It will release in October of this year, and like many other Play Arts figures, it will come with several swappable hands and an extra head wearing sunglasses.

Damn that figure looks awsome, to bad I for some reason don’t like that he has replaced his trusty Colt SAA’s for those guns :/

  • RanFujimiya

    Did I say I’ll buy 3? Forget it, I need 5.

Looks amazing. I wish there will come a second version without the coat.

  • Gatsu

I’ve always thought this figure looks…pretty good.

    • Mauricio Acosta

      Pretty…good? *faints*

  • Golgari

That’s not “pretty good”, that’s pretty FANTASTIC looking figure. I want one.

    • Jak

I feel like “you’re pretty fantastic” would’ve been a bit too cheery and easy going.

  • Tong Ninja

So how many people here can actually buy all or most of the MGS Merchandise??
All these figurines, guide books, artwork, clothes, bonus items, collectibles, music tracks, etc.

XD I can only afford the game and a strategy guide book …. haha

    • Jak

It’s one of the few things I collect, but I focus mainly on the play arts and the more high end collectibles.

    • I’ll be able to buy stuff too when I get a job *_* … in 3-4 years

      • Tong Ninja

haha yeah, getting a job is hard these days as well!
But yeah, job = money that can be used to buy MGS merchandise or other things 🙂

        • Well I’m still a student so it’ll surely take some time

    • ddmaster

I love getting collectables but the ones that can actually serve a useful day-to-day practical purpose such as the leather jacket, ocelot gear sunglasses, etc. Thats one reason why I don’t buy figurines and other statuettes.
What I’d kill for would be Ocelot’s boots, damn those are nice! His long coat too!

    • No Place For Hayter

The merchandise for TPP is insanely expansive and is directed at the rich (for some odd reason), but I will buy anything if it is directly tied to the game and comes out in north American, currently that is just the game and the strategy guide, lol, still waiting for an art book and soundtrack over here.

      • ddmaster

Thats right I’m waiting for the artbook as well forgot about that. Thanks for reminding me. Want to get my hands on all that Shinkawa art.

    • Chriss Kama

I’m not planning on doing that any time soon.

    • Plissken

Me, which pretty much leaves me broke. So instead of buying food, I hunt for it in my official Snake Leather Diamond Dogs jacket.

  • Everyone get in here.

    Already slammed down a pre-order. into a well-greased chamber.

  • Gatsu
    • FMercenary

Every time I watch NHK News, they mention TPP and I’m always, “The Phantom Pain!!!”. lol

  • twelveshots

So cool. So handsome. So sexy. I need it.

  • Yell

I saw ‘date’ and ‘ocelot’ in the same sentence and i dont know if this was what i expected.

Not complaining though, i am tempted to buy this and i sincerely hope play arts also does TPP Kaz, Kaz might be my favourite character design in TPP so far and he is in dire need of some figurines.

    • Jak

Previous one did extremely poorly/tons of stores still have it on clear out, so I’d be surprised if it’s high on their list for this (though who knows, this is already one of the biggest lines they’ve ever done-we could wind up with Poppacon and Eli figs at this rate)

I’d much rather they continue the 1-2 lines, and hop on 3-4.

  • ShalashaskaWasHerSon

These are nice figures and I can afford them, but they are just not worth the price they are asking. Not for something that’s made in China for €5 to €10.

    • Jak

“Worth the price” is just it tho-sure, when PAK first launched they were twenty bucks…but oil was cheap. Any time it raises in price, associated commodities permanently increase as well, even if it goes back down (not to mention inflation).

With this, you’re not just paying for a half pound of plastic and some acrylic paint-you’re paying SQEs licensing costs, employees (and their in demand skill sets) etc. if these -weren’t- made in China they’d be exponentially more expensive too-seems silly to mention the location of most mass produced goods of this sort as some lack of quality.

      • ShalashaskaWasHerSon

Nonsense! They are made in China. Like almost everything else and being made for a small fraction of the consumer cost. Some of these Play Arts are €80 to €100. The reason why they are these prices is because sheep are buying them no matter what price.

        • Jak

Dude, look at every form of entertainment/collectible outside of video games (which are stupidly immune to inflation and rising production costs, mainly because gamers are whiny babies who throw shitfits about everything), everything is more expensive than it was five years ago.

Hell, bread and rice have doubled in price since 2008, but I guess that’s just because the “sheep” are willing to keep eating?

          • ShalashaskaWasHerSon

“bread and rice have doubled in price since 2008, but I guess that’s just because the “sheep” are willing to keep eating?”

You are talking apples and oranges here. Rice is still very cheap and plentiful and is a necessity. Overcharging for toys just because they can is the height of scum. The Hot Toys are not much more and are FAR superior quality wise.

          • Jak

Yeah bud, I own about 14-15 hot toys…and they’ve tripled in price since I started collecting them.

Not really sure how a $300 Raiden is “not much more” than an $80 PAK one. By the time the Venom hot toys is revealed, it’ll probably have an MSRP of 350.

But yeah, you are right- a thing several times the cost of a similar thing is indeed higher quality.

    • No Place For Hayter

Never liked PAK, and yeah figures have gotten WAY to expensive over the years, so I rarely buy them anymore and only when it is actually a really good one, not the over jointed ugly (not so strong) PAK figures.

  • Joaquin Romero Victorica

“Levi Ackerman aproove this shit “

  • Joaquin Romero Victorica

    • Ravenous

Wow, that is an awsome picture, made by you?

      • Joaquin Romero Victorica

“I’m no Artist Never was, never will be. I’m just an old killer,

    • No Place For Hayter

I think that is pretty accurate to how trippy the intro will be, lol.

    • Chriss Kama

      Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick!!!!!! AWESOOOOOME!!!!!!!

    • Gatsu

      That is so freakin awesome!

  • Andrea Feletti

    32 days…

  • BurntFM

Ocelot wanted to come up with a cool nickname but it never stuck. I wonder why….

    • No Place For Hayter

Shalashaska 😉 it rolls of the tongue nicely, lol.

      • Chriss Kama

        That’s funny!!!!

    • MichaelPayneV

Shalashaska, i never had problems saying it, but still pretty funny.

  • MichaelPayneV
  • Korbin Yahraes

I’m just wondering if you can make him do his hand motion from snake eater.

    • Jak

You can see the Pretty Good hands in the photo with all the accessories.

  • JoJo

I already have the Play Arts KAI Quiet, and I think of all figures I was hoping for an Ocelot or Miller. I may just buy this too.

  • Daburcor

Play Arts figures’ faces always look off to me…

  • Sn4ke_911

    • MichaelPayneV

Is this a Picture, or a Screenshot?

      • Andrea Feletti

Seems a real platform…thanks Fox Engine!

      • Sn4ke_911

in-game screenshot of mother base. Kojima posted it.

Look how small the soldiers are :O

  • Sn4ke_911

    Kojima teased a new arm!

For people who don’t know WISP is from Zone of the Enders.

Wisp is an offensive sub-weapon that appears in The 2nd Runner. It is
obtained by the player from Ardjet after deleting and destroying the
Viola A.I.. The Wisp allows the user to grab objects from a distance,
throwing out three small bits which latch on to a target and return it
    to the user.

    • Sn4ke_911
      • Raven_Sorrow

and the arm is the same colors of Jehuty 😉

    • stocchinet .

    • MichaelPayneV

So Snake has the Grapple Gun from the Arkham Series now? Awesome!

  • MichaelPayneV

This song has to be in TPP.
Jokers aside…i mean Jokes aside, Troy Baker is not just a great Actor, but a Terrific singer as well. Enjoy!

  • Lazycuber

Am I the only one who finds the last picture quite… funny?

    Anyone? No? Ok 🙁 lolol

  • Cobra Commander

I really hate Ocelot’s new revolvers! They resemble the Chiappa Rhino. (Barrel is situated at bottom of cylinder instead of the top)
The long barrel one looks like a normal handgun cartridge type, while the short one looks to take shotshells.
Don’t even get me started on the double action trigger design.
I wasn’t too happy about the fictional gun designs, but taking away Ocelot’s Colt SAA is blaspheme!

  • Major Ocelot

    What a sassy action figure.

  • PrinceHeir

    Your Pretty Good 🙂
