The Japanese version of MGSV:TPP has an exclusive easter egg

Konami has unveiled a new easter egg that can be found in the Japanese version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. In a video uploaded to their official Youtube channel, they demonstrated how it works.

This easter egg requires the player to select four or more golden elements in the loadout screen, and Snake as a playable character. If you do this, he’ll speak in a dialect from the Kansai region, which apparently has certain connotations in Japan.

You can check out the easter egg in the video below.

On the rest of the world versions you hear this non stop until you change xDD

  • should i make a joke about how they couldn’t get a couple more of lines out of Kiefer for an English ver. of this easter egg?

    • Tong Ninja

Here’s an unofficial easter egg with Kiefer’s dialogue. 🙂 haha!

      • César H. Sandoval

It’s also what Gray Fox rambles about when you fight him on Shadow Moses, and he’s all crazy on the last segment of the battle.

  • BurntFM

They have no shame. This is the only Easter Egg I want. Where is this scene Konami?

    • Dr. Miles Manners

It’s gone! Get over it! Maybe the scene wasn’t as good as you may thought.

    • MichaelPayneV

In mission 51, with Snake wearing a Gas Mask, and a different camera angle!

    • VenomSnake421

I’m just guessing, but the kids Snake saved may have been killed here, and I think Kojima chose to cancel this scene.

    • Chapter 3, i bet you 😉

    • ThreeMadFrogs

Probably after the napalm scorches the Kingdom Of The Flies.

Today I had a dream I played MGS V but the ending was completely different.
Since I dont want to bore everyone with details I’ll keep it short:
The ending was on Zanzibar Land with Solid fighting Big Boss. It was a god damn long battle, including shooting, then fist fight and when they got tired they jumped into some flying machines and began to ram into each other in the air. Enetually the machines stuck together and started to burn. Solid had parachute and he escaped the wreckages, Big Boss tried to jumped out on the last second, but explosion messed him up pretty bad.
He was completely burned and moaning in agony. Solid got his leg broken, he approached BB and pointed the gun at his head. He then realised he has no bullets left and wasnt able to grant him the mercy kill. He muttered “I’m so sorry” as he heard Zanzibar troops approaching and he left BB dying as he started to run with his crippled leg.

It might not be epic when it’s wirtten like that, but in my dream i was so fucking amazed with this “ending”.

    • Adamska

      It’s pretty epic to me.

    • Tom Brearley-Smith

Complete with surprise dialogue from David Hayter as Solid Snake. If only that was true…

  • vic boss

Funny how people didn’t find this Easter egg until now and we’ll they (kojima productions) were the ones to reveal it. Makes one wonder how many easter eggs there are.

    • No Place For Hayter

Let’s just say I would have found it if it was in the English version, but alas we can’t have it in the English version. I like to run around with the most gold all the time, lol.

  • MichaelPayneV

Was “Heavens Divide” Foreshadowing for Big Boss and Venom Snake having 2 Outer Heavens?

    • Kol Leqejza

elaborate on this one, pls. the song is to the boss. and there is only one outer heaven. the real big boss is building a nation. in mgs 4 (in the mission briefing in the main menu, before u start act 1) campbell mentions something very interesting: he says that the PMC troops are several splitter groups of outer heaven. offsprimgs from the nation, who are under direct contract to outer heaven. zanzibar land was just a covert code name, cos the world thought that big boss died in 1995 and big boss decided to slip under the radar, yet again. outer heaven isn’t just a ideology anymore, it became a real thing, with it’s own law, jurisdiction, an army and citizens who inhabit it. so there really is only one outer heaven.

      • Cobra Commander

There would have been 2 Outer Heavens though right?
Venom’s Outer Heaven, and Big Boss’s Zanzibarland AKA Outer Heaven.
        Or am I missing something?
Also how do we know Venom goes of to build the original Outer Heaven, only to be killed by Solid Snake? Is it just us fans making the connection due to the ‘Operation Intrude N313’ tape Venom receives in the ending?
(Was anyone else waiting to see the computer screen saying some awesome mind blowing shit, only for the screen not to pan far enough?)

        • Kol Leqejza

the thing is that outer heaven is a nation. and there are companies tied to it and they all are outer heaven. like lkquid ocelot’s outer haven and the pmc’s along with it. it’s like big boss says to venom: you are me and i am you. you’re big boss, too. – no, he’s the two of us together.

outer heaven IS the war economy.

        • Ameer Jalil

Well, after the credits there’s the timeline, and that says in 1995 solid kills venom.

    • No Place For Hayter

I don’t see what you mean. The song is from Big Boss’s point of view talking about when he will see or be with The Boss again, I cant see anything it it about 2 Big Boss’s or 2 Outer Heaven’s. Also note the song was made for the story of PW which is about Big Boss and The Boss, nothing to do with TPP or Venom.

  • Danny Patten

    So…what does it mean then?

    • Not sure what the significance is of this specific dialect.

      • Gray Lion

I think that in one of those he said “kept you waiting, huh?” in kansai dialect. As for the others… I really dunno XD

  • Maik O’Bannon

They might have focused a bit more about story-related missions in chapter 2,instead of placing easter-eggs all over the game.
I’m sure we would have felt much better about this game if KP didn’t put those replay missions:
Ground zeroes did well with its “normal” and ” hard” modes,in that ‘game’ replaying wasn’t forced like chapter 2 in TPP..

    • Nick Wheaton

It’s not forced in TPP, you can unlock the games final major story mission without even touching the replay missions.

      • Kol Leqejza

yeah, but who tells you that in the game? -.- i did episode 46 befor quiets last side-op & episode. the ending wouldn’t have been such a clusterfuxk if i would have played it in my preferable way. i appreciate the true ending, but how it was delivered was really poor. very uncharacteristic for a MGS game, which were always perfect in presentation. this one’s not, unfortunately…

  • FOX

i never thought i would like this game less than Peace walker. İts a fantastic game but the worst mgs for me. Whats killing me is i waited for this game since MGS4 and the peace walker just came out of no where

  • FMercenary

A bit off topic, but is anyone eager to see this film? Probably will bring out the feels watching it.

    • grapes9h5

Dying to see this!!!! For many reasons, not the least of which how reminiscent the setting and subject are of MGSV

    • Cobra Commander

I saw it on Netflix and added it to my watch list.
      Might watch it today!

      • FMercenary

It’s barely coming out this Friday, they just currently have the trailers up on Netflix.

    • Gatsu

Wow this look pretty damn good. It’s not on the Finnish Netflix version yet :(…we’re always so far behind.

    • Jav

Netflix won’t cut content of this.

    • Mr. Sir Shpee

I hadn’t seen anything about this, so glad you linked it! Looks fantastic!

    • No Place For Hayter

Hopefully it is good, fingers crossed it actually explores the concept of child soldiers, but I’m kind of colouring my opinion of the movie by wanting it to explore the harsh reality of child soldiers, it will probably focus on a more specific character or emotion instead of the broad concept of child soldiers, but we will see how well they go into the concept of child soldiers via the story of a single character or a single plot thread of revenge or redemption, I am hoping for more pointless child soldiers, child soldiers isn’t always by choice and revenge, most of the time they are forced into it for no reason other than to be used, as kids they are very easy to manipulate and mold so I’m hoping the child characters aren’t very strongly rooted so they can show how controlled and manipulated these kids really are.

  • Snake

Sorry for the off-topic, but I think this may be interesting for many people in our community:

A japanese MGO2 fan has written a petition in to Konami asking for a version of the old Metal Gear Online in PS4. I know these requests are often useless, but at least, we can make Konami realize the new MGO is not what many fans were expecting for.

Take a look if you want.の再稼働もしくはps4への移植希望-re-running-of-mgo2-or-porting-the-mgo2-to-ps4?recruiter=401786500&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=whatsapp
