Kojima expected to start new studio with former Kojima Productions members, Nikkei reports
According to Japanese economy paper Nikkei Kojima has officially left Konami as of today, December 15th. At the moment he is starting a new company with former Kojima Productions members, and is in talks with Sony Computer Entertainment about his next game releasing on PlayStation hardware first.

Kojima Hideo, a famous video game creator known for the Metal Gear series has left Konami Digital Entertainment as of December 15th. He will form a new company where he will continue developing video games, with plans to release on platforms such as Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE)’s PlayStation.
He is forming the new company with people who worked under him at Konami. The rights to the Metal Gear series, for which he is most known, remain at Konami, so he will begin working on an all new title. Final negotiations with SCE are underway for this new game to debut on PlayStation.
Kojima is a world famous video game developer on the same level as Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario. He is highly praised for his elaborate stories and use of movie techniques to create impressive visual imagery. Metal Gear Solid V was released this September and became a massive hit, selling over 5 million copies around the world.

According to JunkerHQ the negotiations are about a timed exclusivity deal for PS4.
Its more about debuting the game on PlayStation rather than specifically timed exclusivity. Technically he could still talk to Xbox about having it also debut on there, if Sony isn’t funding any of it (which I think they probably are). Depending on how much Sony may fund, it could go time exclusive or full exclusive.

Awesome, but it would probably limited funding. Sony is also backing up Yu Suzuki with Shenmue 3, but it’s not known how much their willing to invest.
So you have Keiichiro Toyama(Silent Hill and Siren Creator) with Team Siren(has some former Team Silent members), You can hire Junji Ito, Masahiro Ito(Silent Hill 1-4 Art Director) then put in Kojima in the mix.
Add in Shinji Mikami since he hasn’t announced any new project so far then you have a dream team 🙂
And maybe Akira Yamaoka since he’s been a freelancer and traveling all over the world.

I have a feeling Kojima wants to reach as large an audience as possible with his messages. They’ll be at least PC and PS4.
No worries, they have to be all plats, since they share more and more the same HW.
Software is fiddlin us sooo hard-ware. If Kojima is first party, then they are not targeting their own hard-ware only (even 3rd I’d add). PS3 was IBM, now PS4 CPU is AMD but everywhere they’ll be able to sell a copy, they’ll go for it. They have to. We would do the same.
I wouldn’t count on Xbox, though. I don’t see Sony publishing on Xbox. That being said, Microsoft is publishing Minecraft on Wii U, and lets them update the other versions as well.
Come to think of it, PlanetSide 2 is supposed to come to Xbox One. Anything could happen, I guess.

I think we all still love Metal Gear. Konami hasn’t done anything bad with the franchise yet, so new MG games can be quite good. So I think this site can post news of MG and Kojima’s works, both. Maybe some redesign to separate them a bit, but as of right now, we are still fans of Metal Gear Huh. 🙂
Konami fired Hideo and packed up V in a way we could not even imagine. They have to prove us that they’ll still respect it after that but this last info just confirm the lack of respect for a franchise and its creator who actually pay their meal through our money.
I am sure a huge cut of Konami Staff is frighten to hell with such news, and I am sure Hideo is not happy with that at all.

Kojima getting fired was probably the best thing that ever happened to him. Now he has the liberty to experiment and the pressure to succeed.
We will look over Sony’s shoulders and make sure that all is going as planned.
He did good experimentation within the confines of Metal Gear as well.
Making their games PS exclusive will bring them less bucks than going multiplat. Even Konami understood this when they had still a neuron left. You guys remember that 1st to 3rd parties bring bucks to Sony on PlayStation but even more if the game is famous and shared on a max of plats.

I don’t think there’s anything to imply Kojima is leaving MGS behind. He’s basically just finalizing Kojima Productions and turning it into what he most likely always intended for it to be in the first place. No reason his studio wouldn’t produce more MGS titles similar to how Silicon Knights produced Twin Snakes.

I don’t think Kojima had any intention of remaking the MSX games though based on how he left things up to the player in MGSV. Before MGSV came out, I was always assuming it all lead to the remakes as well, but the game really proved otherwise. Remaking them now, telling one version of it, will go completely against what MGSV was about, whether if it were made by Kojima or Konami.
