    They reaaaally like 3ds.
And how much it sells in the world?

    • MGSV? We don’t know exactly, but it shipped at least five million units: http://www.metalgearinformer.com/?p=23015

      • Jav

Yeah, I remember that. I was expecting more sells.

        • Biggy

This game has sold a lot though and is better than any game that has come out lately and is a testament to Kojima’s skills (and his team of course). It was like a breath of fresh air to me. It felt like I was playing a classic just like metal gear solid 1.

And the formula was exactly the same. Out of your mind type of bosses and the game characters not questioning the realism of them but at the same time an unparalleled realism in stealth elements. And a nice story. I thought this story was good for how little of it was released. I would have waited more if Kojima wanted more time. Sure konami was losing money,
however Howard Hughes waited and lost a lot of money for his movie while he waited for clouds. But he waited because he wanted the damn clouds because he wanted it to be perfect. And when the crowd saw it they went crazy. And then Hughes said after in the movie that it needed to be refilmed because it needed to be in color. I think Kojima has this type of perfectionism in him which is why I would have waited for even more years to play the game and why Metal Gear VI will not be the same without him

I understand that kind of perfectionism. I am like that with my things.
But I don’t have problems with a metal gear without hideo. I enjoyed po and the new game will have the v gameplay and, maybe, boss battles.

Japanese gamers didn’t like V like the previous ones.A simple compare to 4’s sales will lighten up everything.

MGS4 released in June 2008 on just one platform and as you may know,PS3’s sales were awful back in the day.But it sold something around these numbers.

On the other hand,MGSV released in Sep.2015 on five different platforms (with a great installed base) and sold nearly equal to MGS4.

There are lots of reasons that Japanese gamers didn’t like V,but 2 of them are the most important:
1.They didn’t like the story (like a lot of fans outside Japan).
2.They think developers “Westernized” the game.Everything from story and gameplay to the music is made for Western audiences.I did some research about the Japanese version and I gotta say I completely understand what they’re talking about.

I think these 2 are the reasons that V didn’t sell 1 million units yet and there’s a high chance that V don’t reach that 1 million point.

    • The console market isn’t doing very well at the moment in Japan, that’s probably the main reason. Besides, number 15 in the top 100 isn’t bad at all for a platform that hasn’t sold that much yet.

      • Venom_Sina

Yeah, they prefer to play on-the-go these days. That’s why we see a lot of 3DS titles.
I’m not saying number 15 is bad,but a big title like MGS is expected to sell more than this, even if console market is not that good or the host console(s) didn’t sell that much. For example if Square Enix release a Final Fantasy title for home consoles,I’m sure it will sell more than MGSV.I think those 2 reasons that I mentioned really affected the sales.

    • Biggy

They prefer to play pachinko machines.

      Hi Sina,
regarding your second point, MGS 2 scenario was yet a lot westernized.

According to me, what severely impacted the story and also slight part of the gameplay in term of little inconsistencies / fine-tuning was because of Konami’s behavior regarding the project and the dev team. I mean it is clear now that they did not let them finish the game the way they wanted. It is a real Koji-miracle to still have something that complete when we think about what really happened there.
      Konami is 100% guilty.

      Best

Not to mention that back in 2008, digital downloads was not popular and didn’t exist for MGS4. A lot of the copies sold for V might have been digital and that’s why they’re not counted.

    • SaladinSilver

Wow talk about reaching to the max. Sales= Japanese opinion of story not being good.

      • Venom_Sina

I talked to some Japanese fans about the game. Some liked it,some don’t.It was just an opinion.I didn’t want to crush the game, because of the amount of units sold.I have better reasons for it,lol.

Just a quick update guys! Been playing MGS V with couple of other games (including Witcher 3 and Fallout 4)…I reached 15 or so hours and all I can say that the game is amazing both story and gameplay(god that Davie Bowie song made sad,for obvious reasons) … “unfortunately” I will have to leave the gaming be for a while, since I will be taking a deserved long vacation…
Witcher 3 and especially Fallout 4 are really enjoyable games, and they are really time consuming games…
But so far I can see why MGS V is the best in the series 🙂

Glad you are happy with what you played so far. Once you’ll finish it, take the time to imagine what MGS V could have been without Krapnami’s sabotage of Koji-Pro work. Although I feel like playing it for a lot more months even if I finished it.

      • MrVux007

Yea I know that any game can be better…but I also know that every game has cut content, only that kojima productions was more open about it …still, what that team achieved under those working conditions(if true) is bloody impressive and they have my thanks for that

        • Full Options

You’ll see even more how impressive it is once finished. Kojima did a miracle to manage to pull it up that well, beside all the Konami’s vindications around.
          Happy sneaking !! ;D

  • your banner on top is broken everything is pushed over to the right. i’m on a hp stream 7 with windows 8.1 home on firefox 40.0 if you want to look into that.

    • The banner may have been too wide. Is it ok now?
