Kojima visits Quantic Dream in Paris

In their final stop of the technology tour, Hideo Kojima and Mark Cerny went to Paris to visit Quantic Dream, the studio responsible for games like Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. Right now they are working on the PlayStation 4 exclusive title Detroid: Become Human (based on a PlayStation 3 tech demo called Kara, shown during GDC 2012).

  • Quantic Dream is ok… but Their technologies are impressive:

Imagine smth like this for Hideo Kojima’s next game.

    • Venom_Sina

Yeah, the final scene of Detroit trailer (when Kara talks) is nizhoni.QD is really powerful when it comes to Motion/Facial capture.

      • Tong Ninja

        Quantic Dream have great technology!

Have you seen the motion/facial capture for Uncharted 4? The character models look so beautiful haha!

        • Venom_Sina

Yeah, they are fantastic, too.I heard from Troy Baker that Naughty Dog animators did all those greatness.

      • Spectralbuttplug

Madison’s boobs in heavy rain are nizhoni ! Wait did i cross the line?

    • NegaScott128

I know this is a really weird comparison, but Quantic Dream’s games remind me a bit of the Cartoon Network show The Amazing World of Gumball. If you’ve seen the show, then you know it looks just amazing. There’s a great blend of animation styles, and it all looks fantastic. But the animation is in service to really mediocre writing. That’s how I feel about QD games: amazing tech, all in service to mediocre stories.

How the hell David Cage, of all people, got to work with Ellen Page, Willem Dafoe, and David goddamn Bowie is beyond me.

      • Daniel Silva

Not “mediocre”, but you expect something so big, and when you actually get to play the game, it’s just “ok”. I mean, they’re games are fun to play, but not something you have an urge to play again.

“Gumball”I USED TO FUCKING LOVE GUMBALL AS WELL AS REGULAR SHOW AND ADVENTURE TIME.The others are meh.I loved old shows like samurai jack(which is returning) dexter’s lab and sw the clone wars and more

    • Fear Monkey

I wish this would have turned into a game….

I found this on our neighbor’s website:
“Royal Dutch Airlines to Kojima: “Did you enjoy your flight on our metal gear?”
    “Welcome to Amsterdam, Mr. Kojima.”

Great to see Kojima catching up with his former team member Takehana! 🙂

    And also MGS 3 Ayako-chan ! <33

  • Spectralbuttplug

    Nyxus was right!

  • Gatsu

Awesome :D, Quantic Dream ftw :)!

So this is final stop for Kojima-san, huh? Will be interesting to see what happens next.

    Also, a nice reunion ^^ !

    • “Will be interesting to see what happens next.”

      1) He should release HideoTube Episode about his 10 day trip.

      2) He should start conceptualizing the SHIT out of his new game and finally decide what technology he will use/develop. 10 days is enough to figure out what new KojiPro requires to do, to make things happen.
It’s time to make things happen and start doing things in hardcore mode. No more drinks or reunions.

I like Quantic Dreams games very much I played Fahrenheit(indigo Prophecy) was a good murder mystery that went too supernatural at the end. Heavy Rain was as close as it gets to their best game. 4 stories interlaced around the case of the origami killer, but it could have been more, like the promised 4 dlc episodes that never saw the light of day. Beyond:Two Souls was very good. I was engaged in the characters and was an improvement from Heavy Rain but they final act was way over the top and condescending with it’s “message” which made the story very weak.

Ohh the feels… I definitely need to replay all MGS again this year. Even after finishing MGSV, these trailers still kick ass. I was lucky to be able to grow up experiencing these stories

Btw I gotta say that playing MGSV again after maybe 1 month break feels so goddamn epic <3. I had played open world games too much maybe, so needed some time off :D. Hurry up Kojima kaminandesu and show us your next project ;O.

You and me bro, the first time I played metal gear solid I was probably like 8 or 9 years old and mgs1, 2 , and 3 had already come out by then, needless to say I am now 19 years old and I’m happy too that I grew up playing this games and thankful to my brother that showed them to me I remember watching him play mgs2 and mgs3 back in the ps2 era. Mgs1 and ocarina of time are probably the only old games that I can play and beat and not get tired of. To conclude I play every mgs game at least once a year and I’m getting some time off from mgsv at least until I get out of school to play all of them again.

P.D. this video makes me emotional every time I watch it.

What too rare game press fellows try to explain is the story of a pioneer.

Some of them witnessed his talent before playstation, and are proud to be always right (even if they need to double check before posting anything) because of one simple fact :

He is one of the rares really worried about what we will think about his roms.

If the least I know of Koji-Logic is respected, the next title will be Giant !
MGS 4 = almost fired, too big (well finished)
MGS V = fired, too gigantic (likely finished)
XXX = up and running, Pharaonic (well finished / polished), my take but god please !!

One question, when ?? If SCE’s mechanics / magic works normally, he can pull all this up much faster than it seems. We will keep a Falcon eye on every hints until then ! 😀

  • Venom_Sina

    WAY OFF-TOPIC,BUT REALLY IMPORTANT:
I just found out that Sony dropped the price for BloodBorne:GOTY Edition for EU accounts.SAVE 50%!!! I can confirm that it’s available in UAE and UK accounts. So bottom line is:DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND BUY THIS PIECE OF GOLD,LOL.
The deal will end in February 4th.

“After this studio tour (my advanced technology journey) I felt this:

“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”

    you herd it folks!
    Programmers are indeed sorcerers!

Cant wait to play Detroit become human. But even more I cant wait to see what kind of game Hideo Kojima will make after visiting all those developers studios. What kind of technology He will use and what game He will choose to make. FPS, Rpg, adventure or (I hope) stealth game.
