Gotta go and hug my Legacy Collection and TPP CE. C:

    • vic boss

I know man , I’m on the same boat as you, I mean when the Legacy collection came out it was 50 bucks. For me that was really cheap and easy way to get all the games as all the metal gear solid games I had were my brothers and when I moved out I didn’t own any single metal gear.

  • ThreeMadFrogs

A shame Portable Ops was never ported to PS3. Although, I guess then it would cease to be portable…

    • JJBYACH

I’ve never actually played Portable Ops – is it any good?

      • It’s quite good but the controls take some getting used to.

        • Nekkedsnake

the first 3 times i beat PO i played with the default control scheme. then later on i decided to customize them and got my layout as close to PW’s setup as i could. I made the L my aim and R my shoot/cqc buttons. i made the face buttons act like a 2nd analog stick just like PW on PSP. i use the D-PAD for all other functions.

        • Full Options

A shame I left it behind around the middle of it. But the controls were getting tedious for me as I was progressing. Would love to play current gen remaster.

      • Full Options

Yes JJ, pretty good story actually. I would rather shoot it on a TV screen, comfortably sitting on a couch even if PSP’s resolution is low, rather than playing it on a PSP screen. Since you need concentration and because some elements are small and not always obvious to spot.
Kojima seriously well corrected the shot regarding those tiny problems with PW.

    • Full Options

They really tried to setup their first truly portable MG stealth experience, and somehow quite succeeded in many aspects, but stealth require very precise controls. It is not always easy to stay that precise with the PSP analog stick, unless the dev involve a lot more effort to balance / customize the gameplay around specific game sequences, I suppose. PW was so well nailing those issues.

  • ADAMJENSEN13

Did I miss some news? Because I didnt see a news about cancelling of MGS Remake Shadow Moses anywhere on the site.
To bad they cant finish that remake. It looked really good.

  • I want to say that it is great to be a Playstation gamer. Every metal gear game out there … Even VR missions of the original. So cool.

    • Full Options

And cherry on the cake : Kojima’s next game.

  • Jav

    Ps4 needs the old games

  • Ruhcaleb

i don’t understand why MGS not works for PS Vita.

    • Full Options

MGS 1 can run on Vita. It sounds like a Vita PSN localisation issue. I don’t know if it is still the case, North America Vita PSN seem to have it for direct purchase. Maybe the issue for other regions have been addressed since then, however many people declared being able to install it on the Vita after buying it through the PS3 store and making sure [IMPORTANT] to transfer it on the Vita WITHOUT installing it on your PS3. Good luck !

      • Ruhcaleb

        You’re pretty good.

        • Full Options

Not at all, thanks, you just tilted me on why a Vita could not run what a PSP can. Keep us posted if you move on this. 😉

          • Ruhcaleb

i know the Vita can run the game, still mising in the store.

  • Spectralbuttplug

Off Topic:I just watched Batman Beyond Season 3 again
Why the fuck did they cancel it?

    • JJBYACH

Have you seen Young Justice? When that show was cancelled my heart was torn in two. Same with Spectacular Spiderman. I don’t know why they keep cancelling the best superhero shows.

      • Spectralbuttplug

Yeah Young justice will apparently come back to netflix
I loved it too even though I didn’t watch many episodes

  • Gatsu

Still waiting for that Steam release of Legacy Collection … I want all my friends to play them and ofc a reason to buy them once again.

  • Nekkedsnake

I Love Portable Ops. beat it 3 times and then decided to add some Hex edit hack codes to it to mess with it and have fun. i have like 4 Naked Snakes and Big Bosses. the thing that really sucks is that the North American version of PO isn’t able to be installed into my Vita. the only way ive been able to play it is using my trusty PSPs. Sony should really do something about this region locking. I mean EU territories can download and install PO straight to their Vitas without issues.

  • Mini gear

im having a heart attack. snagged the ultimate deluxe edition of ffxv… never bought so expensive and refreshed like a cheetah… im dead … and so happy…(sorry for being offtopic nyx) ^_^

    • BurntFM

OMG I’m so Jelly. I saw the news too late. LOL but have you seen the prequel anime they are doing. It’s pretty great.

      • Mini gear

haven’t checked it yet. if no interruptions ill watch tomorrow 🙂

    • Lewis

Maaaan, I envy you. Only 30k copies, that’s insane, you’re pretty good. Never played any FF game (apart from my FF Tactics Advanced, which I adored), but XV got me so interested, I think I’m even waiting for it, lol.

      • Mini gear

yea seeing the price almost stopped me, but i want to become a big collector so gotta pull out all the stops. lol im waiting for this beauty to come out too, im just hoping the combat feels just right when over because everything else i find perfect

  • Lewis

By the way, guys! I finally got my platinum in TPP. I got every but 2 trophies several
months ago and when I saw, what a mess was collecting all the animals, I just quit. But that 96% were taunting me so bad, that a week ago I decided to complete it. Of course I collected the animals with the help of youtube guides (some guy spent 7 hours straight looking for Leopard Tortoise, fuck that). Then I did the last trophy, that was to complete all of the mission tasks (it also bugged for me, making me replay Lingua Franca 4-5 times). So, as my brother said, when he got 1001% in Binding of Isaac, NOW I can play the game to my pleasure, lol (kinda reminds me of that episode of South Park about WoW). So yeah, finally, I did it.

Off Topic:That star wars rebels season 2 finale though 🙁

  • Thamhas

wish there were digital releases for the games on PS4, though I already have PS3 but I rarely use it.

  • JJBYACH

As someone who has waited 10 years for this game – this trailer nearly brought me to tears:

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oxKLNz36o-A

God… Japanese game developers don’t play around – when a game gets delayed to hell this is what the end product looks like, unlike western games trapped in development hell.

    • Lewis

As someone who just recently became interested in FF, was it really 10 years in development? Or was it announced 10 years ago and went into real production only 2-3 years ago? I’m just curious about the effective development time.

      • It was in development hell. It was announced as a Playstation 3 exclusive back in the day when PS3 was just announced. It was worked on the PS3, and looked spectacular for it’s time but development went on and on because of old Japanese development methods… Eventually, the concept was too much for the Ps3 in the end so original creator Tetsuya Nomura stepped down and 2-3 years ago it was in development for the Next Gen systems.

The story is complicated. A lot of things changed since then. Back in the day the game was darker and was made for the Fabula Nova Crystallis setting.

        • Lewis

          >original creator Tetsuya Nomura stepped down

Scary. Really scary when such happens.

      • JJBYACH

A mix of the two. It kept getting halted and starting up again while Square Enix were running around in circles. They kept pulling the Dev team to work on Final Fantasy 13 and its sequels. Some of the original Dev team (Nojima, Nomura and Co) eventually handed the reigns to the previous co-director Tabata who became the new lead game director as they felt enough was done for the game to be completed under his direction. I think the main problem was Square Enix not having enough faith in the project as they thought it was too far of a departure from tradition FF – which is what they went for in XIII but failed so bad it kinda booted them in the ass.

        You can read more here:
        https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Development_of_Final_Fantasy_XV

        • Lewis

          Thanks for the info!
Btw, I think about trying some FF, but not sure where to start. 7 seems an obvious choice, but (much to my shame) I can’t really handle the graphics today, so I will have to wait for the remake. X/X-2 is on sale atm for PS4, is it a good one? I also downloaded the XIV demo, but not sure I want to get into another MMO with a subscription.

          • IMO, to be honest, if you can’t handle 7 graphics, you should wait for the FFXV. Play it first and if you will enjoy it, only then start exploring old games.
FFX is great but it depends on your preferences in the storytelling and JRPG in general. It’s complicated.
Better to try something with more modern mechanics, so I think you should wait for the FFXV first… It’s not too long. September 30 is soon.

          • Lewis

Yeah, that was my thought, FFXV is too far away. So I wanted something from that “universe” to spend the time. I know that gameplay will be different, but what harm can it be?

          • Final Fantasy is not one universe. Each game has it’s own setting, characters, story and the world. They only have some mechanics, easter eggs and monsters in common.
So… If you want really to try smth, ofc you can try FFX or FF12, but I don’t know if you like JRPG or not. That is important thing in this discussion. But I recommend to wait. these old classics won’t die.

          • Lewis

Yeah, I know, that’s why I wrote it with quotes. 🙂
I mostly enjoyed FF Tactics Advanced and I played some JRPGs (don’t remember names), but they were too over the top and “anime” with all the cliches and dumb characters. So I think I’m open to any FF game, they seem to be praised for good story and characters, if I am correct. 🙂

          • JJBYACH

Don’t worry – they are releasing an anime series and a full feature film based in XV universe before release to quench our lust. They have so much faith and confidence in this game. I have honestly never seen a game having this much faith put in it by the publisher.

            https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=fsVhwsUFaDE

            https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wHP8HbsFutY

          • Lewis

Yeah, I’ve seen those, and it’s great. It will give more insight tothe story of FFXV, but I kinda want something a lil bit older. I mainly play my PS4, would you recommend FFX? I saw your recommendation about Type-0, but this game has recieved very negative reception in my country, main critising being a weak port, bad controls and camera and poor character writing. But then again, opinions differ, so I’m not sure, which way to go.

          • JJBYACH

The graphics aren’t very good, the story is overly complicated (at first glance), frame rate is all over the place, the camera is nauseating and the combat is kinda hit and miss. I don’t think the characters are poorly written – it’s just that its ambition was too much for a portable title, they’re too many characters and most of them are nonessential to the main story. You can see the corners they cut to condense a much large story into a smaller one.

Like most JRPG’s the game is quite grindy, the side missions and general game design is built around this so the game can feel repetitive when playing for long sessions (this makes sense it was a portable game).

But underneath all that is a good game, I found it enjoyable once I started to accept the game for what it is trying to do an quit nobly fails at but, instead of what I wanted it to be.

Watch/read some reviews and make your judgement there, I was unsure as well but I decided to bite the bullet and try it. Maybe try and get a pre owned copy for cheap? I enjoyed it a lot initially but I haven’t had motivation to go back and play it.

          • JJBYACH

            I would play Final Fantasy
Type 0. It has a more action oriented combat system and the darkest FF story – the story basically revolves around the lives of about 12 child soldiers and how perpetual warfare affects them as people. It’s also developed by the current director of Final Fantasy XV. I haven’t beaten it yet, from what I’ve played it was pretty great.

        • JJBYACH

I’ve only played Type-0, but I’ve watched the cutscenes of X and 7 on YouTube – not the equivalent of playing the games, I know. I’m just not a fan of turn based gameplay.

Also there is a new demo for Final Fantasy XV out now for free, I’m currently downloading it on my PS4. I really want to try out the updated combat system.

          • Lewis

I tried it on my lunch break, looked good, but they seriously need to work on framerate and anti-aliasing. Also, though it was only the first playthrough and it promises more on consecutive runs, the demo looked dull and empty until a certain point (don’t want to spoil).

    • I liked everything, especially the ending with a song but that batman car is too much for the Fantasy Sci-fi setting… Too much.

      • JJBYACH

I liked it – it was so anime-over-the-top-crazy-stupid.

      • Gatsu

I loved it <3. All of them have scifi stuff mixed anyway, 8 even had the flying school Gardens which blew my mind back in the day lol.

    • Gatsu

      Me too JJ…so freakin happy 😀 !

      • Lewis

I did. I think it was very near to a disaster. Framerate was bad, aliasing was even worse, crystals were a joke, fighting till the last boss was boring and uninspired, the last boss fight (the one that is lvl 15, not 3) was a breath of fresh air, but still looked shallow. It was a very big mistake to release this demo, it did more harm, than good. I think they should have updated Episode Duscae and release it for everyone (I didn’t play it, but at least it featured buddies and grown up Noctis). Lack of weapons and items were a pain, although the shuriken and shield, once found, did lift my spirit a bit. The camera was also very weird and unresponsive. They really have a lot of work to do, but I wonder, is half a year enough to fix all of this.

  • Gatsu

OMG Mindblown…I’ve been a FF fan since 1998 and this make me so happy… Also to finally know release date <3. Last FF I enjoyed was 12, even though quite many dislike it. Such a long wait for this, but oh boy it has been worth it .

Final Fantasy 7 so far is still the best to me, but 8 and 9 are very close.
P.S. oh the new trailer was posted below lol ;D.

So happy they make remake of 7 too, I can’t wait to see Weapons and Sephiroth some year.

    • With all the flaws XIII had, I still enjoyed it. It’s not the best FF ofc, but it was beautiful and combat system was good.
FFXV should be good for sure. It was a Tetsuya Nomura baby. I don’t know how much has changed but I’m looking forward to it Gatsu.

      • Gatsu

I have tried to enjoy FF13 quite a few times first on Xbox back in the days and now on Steam. But I just can’t get into it very well for some reason :(. Maybe I will finish it one of these days and yea the combat system is pretty good. I’m confident that I’ll love 15 though. The scale of it looks incredible and I love seeing those gigantic summons :D.

        • I also like the technology behind the game. Luminous engine is very good looking thing for this game. Sadly, they won’t use it for FF7 Remake.
Summoners are fantastic and exploration is great.

I tried the demo and it was simple but awesome at the same time. You should try it 😉

          • Gatsu

Don’t worry mate, I played the demo last year and loved it :D. But still the full game experience can be different. Gonna see in September.

          • JJBYACH

There is a new free demo that came out today. Damn my slow Internet… I want to play it so bad.

          • Gatsu

I will check it out during weekend. Evenings go way too fast 🙁 and I wanna enjoy it nice and slow :D.

      • JJBYACH

I don’t think alot changed – Tabata was the co-director alongside Nomura for quite a while so he was the best possible candidate to pick the game up, especially since Nomura wasn’t very decisive of what the game was suppose to be (he wanted the game to be a musical at one point), Tabata seemed to put his foot down and say “this is what the game is going to be, let’s make it”.

The most notable changes I can think of is the intro to the game and Stella being changed into Luna.

    • Jav

Can I play it if I have never played one?

      • Gatsu

Yeah you can :), the stories of Final Fantasy games aren’t linked together. There are often few similar named characters or Summon monsters in each game though, like Cid or summon Bahamut. But the stories and majority of characters are always new in a new fantasy world.

        • Jav

Thanks. Now tell me which ones should I play.

          • Gatsu

Final Fantasy 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are my favorites. 12 too. But no new HD release of it yet on PS3/PS4 I think.

Steam has all of them but no 10 or 12, 9 should release soon.

If you can, I’d play all those. FF6 has NES gameplay+graphics mostly, except few CGI cutscenes. FF7 was the first one on PS1 released in 1998. The graphics of it are of course older, but if it don’t bother then you find a fantastic story when play it.

FF10 is the first one that has voice acting. Each can give you 50h or more gameplay.

    • Mini gear

final fantasy is one of the greatest series for me too ^_^. i feel like this might kick the series back into gear again

Sean Bean as King Regis – I don’t think that casting choice spells good for the fate of Regis, considering what happened last time…

If I understood correctly, Regis is going to die very soon into the game. It can be deduced from the demo and the trailers. So yeah, casting Sean Bean was pretty ironic. Also, people from the CGI movie won’t voice in-game characters, that’s a bit of a downer.

The game originally started in Crown City in Lucis and we see first hand the Nilfhelm invasion and Noctis somehow fights his way out, this is presumably where we also witnessed the death of Lucis as a catalyst for the event of the game – since Tabata became director it was changed to Noctis only hearing about the invasion on the way to Tenebrae to get married to Luna (which honestly makes more sense than him escaping his under captive home), he only hears that his father is dead but the truth is really unknown to him (if you watch the anime, they kinda hint that Noctis isn’t sure his father is dead), and that is one of the reasons he wants to drive Nilfhelm out of his Kingdom – to find out the truth about everything that happened that day.

It’s my first fanfic of LiS, friend posted a huge list on Steam forums and All That Remains is longest one I think, over 60 chapters. It’ll make you cry hella much <3…tears of joy.

I'm actually also replaying haha, quite slowly because playing Witcher 3 and others too. On 5th playthrough myself xD. I just started EP4…, I love the music. “Timelines” is amazing song of the OST.

Anyway, some can’t play LiS more than once, when is so emotional. But its just one of those rare wonderful experiences for me, which I need a dose of like every week lol.

Possibly my most favourite game ever.
