Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. today announced METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE DEFINITIVE EXPERIENCE. Available on PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft and PC via Steam on October 13th, METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE DEFINITIVE EXPERIENCE will come complete with METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES, METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN and METAL GEAR ONLINE. Additionally, **THE DEFINITIVE EXPERIENCE will include a selection of DLC for each product.

“METAL GEAR SOLID V has received collectively over 60 industry accolades and awards thus far,” said Tomotada Tashiro, President for Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. “THE DEFINITIVE EXPERIENCE will give players an opportunity to play the complete MGSV experience, without interruption. Additionally, with METAL GEAR ONLINE, players also get access to a completely unique multi-player setting that is designed for a truly engrossing gaming experience as well.”

METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES takes place in 1975 and sets in motion a series of events that culminate in the stunning plotlines of METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN. GROUND ZEROES centers on Big Boss – legendary hero and mercenary – as he infiltrates a sprawling secret prison base called ‘Camp Omega’ in Cuba on a rescue mission. He soon finds himself alone behind enemy lines with a truly non-linear mission that showcases key advances to the series made possible by its use of the FOX Engine.

Continuing the story of Big Boss, METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN is the series’ largest and most ambitious edition to date, expanding upon themes and content seen in its predecessor: METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES. Set within huge open-world environments, METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN is brought to vivid life with realistic weather patterns and day/night cycles. Thus, players can adapt their tactics to match the changing environment, creating an intuitive and non-linear gameplay experience. Similarly, a host of acclaimed METAL GEAR SOLID features return in hugely advanced forms, including expanded CQC (Close-Quarter Combat) skills, vastly improved enemy AI, online elements that complement the single player campaign, and an all-new version of METAL GEAR ONLINE, a competitive multiplayer mode, included within the main game, that is currently live, online and available for users to play.

METAL GEAR ONLINE is built around a dedicated squad-based competitive multiplayer structure, which has been fully redesigned with the familiar gameplay and aesthetic styling of the acclaimed METAL GEAR SOLID series. The online element introduces Tactical Team Operations and features a ‘class system’ that more uniquely defines the strengths and abilities of player characters on the battlefield. Players can select from 3 distinct classes: Scout, Enforcer and Infiltrator.

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE DEFINITIVE EXPERIENCE is scheduled to be released on October 13th for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft.

**The Steam version pricing and content details will be confirmed at a later date, an announcement will be made shortly.

All of the DLC included with the Definitive Experience

In Japan, the game will be released on November 10th. The Japanese version looks like this:

Some additional information Konami provided via social media:

  • The Definitive Experience is mainly meant for new players who hadn’t had a chance to play the games yet, now they can get everything in one package.
  • Both GZ and TPP as well as the DLC will be on one disc.
  • The Definitive Experience won’t have it’s own trophies but will use the same list as the separate releases of GZ and TPP.
  • Aside from the trophies, your save file will transfer over as well.
  • The team considered releasing the title for PS3 and Xbox 360 as well, but eventually decided to release it for current gen consoles only and consolidate the community.
  • The main menu will include a listing that lets you choose between GZ and TPP but other than that will be the same as the original.

  • Welp no point to buy for me…

    • At first they were separate DLC Exclusives for each platform. Deja Vu was for Playstation, Jamais Vu for Xbox. At the time they were DLC exclusives.

      • Jake

they where both free on PC though? I assume it was just to make the list look bigger, in reality there isnt really anything worthwhile besides the MGO expansion :/ I guess people who havent played yet would buy it, but it would have been nice if they added something else just for fans and people who collect so it doesnt seem like sucha pointless purchase.

        • They were free but initially the PlayStation version didn’t have the Jamais Vu mission and the Xbox version didn’t have the Deja Vu mission. They added them later.

Not sure at all about how they’ll manage to grab my 60 bucks with this list ! xD
They are so nuts, I would have paid for say 5-10 extra missions, but this list is a cheesy joke !

    • You are not the target audience. This is for people who never played these games and now can buy for 49.99$ this game. It’s not a 60$ release so… It’s more than ok for what they are asking for.

You are right, forgot that heavy point. Although they could have touch a little more the code than simply collecting what was done.. :/ Not asking for a whole mission disk neither but,.. However.. ;D

  • Janeo

This works out well for me, I got the game on PS3 so I can buy this when I’m ready, I probably won’t buy it for a while but it’s good to have as an option when I feel like replaying the game. Though I feel like replying the game soon so maybe one more playthrough on the PS3 then the next time I feel like playing I can grab this. It would be nice if they added some new content but no big deal for me, others who got it on ps4 already don’t have much reason to buy this though

    • So you want to buy this bundle for your PS3, is that correct?
Because it’s not available for PS3&X360

      • Janeo

No I’m saying I want to get it for ps4 because I didn’t have one at the time this game came out. Now that I have a ps4 I was probably gonna buy the game for it someday anyway so this works out well because I get everything in one.

        • Ah haha alright I see. I got confused a bit.

    • Lastation 4

Will the PC(Steam) version gets a physical release? Ground zeroes and Phantom Pain were released physical for PC(Steam) in Germany. Thats the only version, thats missing in my collection. Like the cover art much.

      • It probably depends on the region (for example, in Japan the Xbox One doesn’t have a physical version), but if you want to be sure you could try asking mr Peeler.

        • Lastation 4

Is it possible to ask him without twitter?

          • He sometimes replies on reddit and Steam forums as well.

      • Rob

I don’t know that Germany will have a physical release, but it’s likely because similar to what you’ve said I’ve heard the same. I’ll double check with them.

        • Lastation 4

Thanks, i will keep an eye on it!

      • Jav
        • Lastation 4

Yeah, i read about it. But well im informed and have enough free space on my PC. U have to install every PS4 game nowadays aswell. Its a bit annoying…

    • They won’t answer me if Chapter 3 is more than that disarmament cutscene and the Peace title card :r

      • JJBYACHFullOptions2FucKonami

Now why would they confirm or deny that? They want to keep as much people playing the game as possible – that pretty much stops them from debunking conspiracy theories.

  • I Kissed Her From The Shadows

I can’t believe haters call this a turd

    • Apache Indian

My friend, everything that companies release is a cash grab. I own GZ and PP that said, heck it, i will be buying this, love that cover art.

      • Ricardo Coelho

Same, if it comes with a physical release to PC.

  • Robin030

    nice cover tho…

  • Plissken

I see they went with the “Metal Gear Survive” font

    • Yeah, pretty strange. But it’s nice that they used the Pablo Uchida artwork.

    • Ricardo Coelho

At least that new font is way cooler than the other one.

  • As for why there is no PS3 / X360 version:

    • Jav

      That’s not a good answer.

  • Ardens Anima

So off-topic, I wanted to bring up something I noticed.
The motherbase that gets sucked away into the wormhole is the MSF motherbase.
Yet, I noticed that the motherbase in Survive is the Diamond Dog motherbase….

They might have an explanation for this later, or in-game. But for now, it just seems like they used the assets from The Phantom Pain for MB and put them in Survive.

    • JJBYACHFullOptions2FucKonami

In actuality I’m pretty sure it indeed what you proposed – a lazy asset flip, but it’s more fun to speculate.

    • Jav

Making the msf base is just more work.

    • Janeo

There is no way they would just swap over the bases and hope no one notices, some weird things are happening with wormholes so I’m sure they will have an explanation and it would be cool if things from every metal gear era were getting sucked in but it will most likely just be things from metal gear solid 5.

  • John Rhogan

If this is getting a US release I will buy it.

    • Yes, it’s coming out in the US on October 11th.

  • Jav

And where is ground zeroes in the art?
The art should be a new image.

    Fantastic cover art!

I think this is the first time when Europe cover is better than Japanese.

  • ObsessedGeorge

They changed the font to reflect the Metal Gear Survive Ground Zeroes story continuation.
