    So Kojima just retweeted this:

Welp, I’m calling it. This, combined with her refusal to comment earlier, and her visiting Guerrilla Games, seems like pretty good proof that Stefanie’s gonna be in Death Stranding. Assuming there’s actually a trailer at Tribeca, we might get some info about it, but if not, we’ll just have to wait for E3.

  • ObsessedGeorge

    Here they cooooooooooooooome! *burps 🙂

    • I enjoyed it. Really good stuff and I agree that MGSV has an amazing visual storytelling and cutscenes are some of the best not just in the gaming industry but in all media in general.

Oh goddamit, I need to go to work tomorrow but I wanna see Kojima-san >_<… Well who needs sleep lol xD.

    • Lex Radu

      How much left till then?

    • Lex Radu

just 1 hours and 7 minutes left

Actually, regarding to what this women is saying now live, i think Plot is a lot more important than Story, Story is actually the least important aspect of a Movie/Video Games/TV Show etc.

    Ex.

AC has great, great stories, but shallow plot, and sometimnes boring.
The Uncharted Series has a prettty by the numbers story, but it has amazing plot, everything from dialogue, to pacing, to editing. etc.
Same can be said for the GTA Series, the story is not the focus, but the Plot is the real start here.

That being said, the Metal Gear Series has the best ballance of Story and Plot, and yes, if i forgot to mention, Gameplay is one aspect of a Video Game plot, is crucial, is why AC’s Plot is meh, it has potential, but it’s usually poorly executed.

    • Lex Radu

Everyone can make a great Story, but not everyone can give it an equaly exciting plot.

    • JJBYACHFullOptions2KojiBoi

I think think that’s especially true for a lot of these modern TV series. They have this amazing story that sounds gripping on paper, but the actual plot is paper thin in complexity.

      • Lex Radu

Exactly, and getting back to Video Games, most developers focus too much on the Story, and not enough on the plot, on the interactive Storytelling (Storytelling is the mix of both Story and Plot), how a certain mechanic has to make sense in the plot, a lot of magical gadgets appear without being foreshadowed first, it breaks immersion to make something like that.

  • NegaScott128
  • JJBYACHFullOptions2KojiBoi

My blind optimism that they would show something has already dropped to 30%. Still will be interesting nonetheless.

  • NegaScott128

OH MY GOD KOJIMA JUST SAID HE WANTS TO MOVE AWAY FROM CUTSCENES

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON
    https://i.giphy.com/tdN4TpyM3dzYA.gif

    • JJBYACHFullOptions2KojiBoi

This was very expected. Based on MGSV and the teasers he put out you can tell he’s going for a more subdued style of visual storytelling, with less emphasis on dialogue. And then there’s all the talent associated with the game – Norman and Mads are not cheap, I wouldn’t expect them to appear in 8 hours of cutscenes.

      • NegaScott128

I know, it’s just that Kojima is so known for his cutscenes. It’s like if J.J. Abrams said he’d never have another lens flare in his movies ever again.

      • We don’t know that for sure. He just says that he wants to experiment more with the storytelling.
It has nothing to do with actors being not cheap or so… Sony will pay for all of that. Money is not the problem here with these actors at all.

for now we have only two teasers which were btw only cinematic as much as possible. Cutscenes are important and will always be important for storytelling and Kojima’s games.

  • Jav

    Stop talking and show something.

    • Lex Radu

This festival was about talking, E3 is about showing.

  • Lex Radu

Ken Levine and Doug Liman’s talk is really fun.
    keep watching, guys.

Interesting note: Just noticed that right before he makes the “shush” gesture, his hand is in a position reminiscent of Christian Religous Icons

Theory: Mads Mikkelsen’s is A.R. Fallen Messiah, a scenario of “What if Jesus went to the dark side?”

    • Lex Radu

A.R. = Alternative Reality, not Augumented

    • NegaScott128

I think that’s just his hand going from holding the goggles to the “shush” gesture. Notice in the Jesus picture he’s holding up two fingers; Mads is only holding up one.

      • Lex Radu

        Deleted this one.
Above, plus theory on what it could mean.

  • Lex Radu

Interesting how the position of Mads Mikkelsen’s Character’s hand in DeathStranding right beforte he makes the “hush” gesture looks quite reminiscent of classic Christian Religion Icons, possibly hinting at his real identity, and the contrast with the more Demonic look, further corroborating that this particular Messianic Figure might be from an Alternative Reality where it has gone to the Dark Side!
    https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s–I-cqNx7K–/c_scale,f_auto,fl_progressive,q_80,w_800/loezi035wrvs4bqz3l5h.gif

    • NegaScott128

Yeah, I’m still not convinced. I still think it’s just his hand gesture changing from holding the goggles to making the “shush” gesture. It just takes longer than normal, probably because Kojima thought it would look cooler if he was moving more deliberately.

      • Lex Radu

At the same time it goes in to a little slow-mo before he puts the hand done, so Kojima deliberately made it look like that, and he knew we would see it, since our focus was on the hand.

That’s why i love Kojima, he knows how to direct your eyes without making scenes look shaky, and know the basic cinema rule of thirds.

        • NegaScott128

He’s gotten a lot better at directing the cutscenes, definitely. That opening cutscene of Ground Zeroes is amazing.

          • Lex Radu

You speaking of the opening, i’m speaking of the ending scene, that was briliantly made, it had action, it had emotion, it had great writen dialogue, like the short conversation between Paz and Snake, it had all the words it needed, you we didn’t hear paz say “it’s in my vagina”, we thought that, and made it in to a “holly shit moment, it gave us a “holly shit” feeling, followed by another one, and then a cliff hanger, making you want to play TPP.

            Best Prologue EVER.

          • NegaScott128

That scene’s good too, but I think the opening is also really impressive. I think that stands out more in my memory because that’s the first thing we ever saw of MGSV, even if we didn’t know it was MGSV at the time.

          • Lex Radu

Remember when we tought GZ was the whole game, wen we tought it was gonna be a more urban infiltration game, like facilities, airoports, bases and stuff…and then BOOOK Afghanistan and Jungle, Snake Eater meets MGS4!

          • Lex Radu

with the mind fuck of MGS2.

          • NegaScott128

Remember when The Phantom Pain was some weird indie horror game? Good times.

          • Lex Radu

Yeah, i remember i thought it was Silent Hill&Metal Gear Rip-Off, it looked familiar enough, but also different enough to say “Big Boss didn’t lost his hand, this can’t be canon Metal Gear!”

  • To sum up the info:
    1) The game is running on the PS4
    2) The game will have different hairstyles and clothes (for some reason that reminds me of a MMO game or a “The Division”, but these are just my thoughts.)
    3) It has a plot

    Basically that’s it.

    • Lex Radu

      Plot confirmed

    • Lex Radu

About PS4, what he actualy said was about the development was Is going good on the PS4″

That to me sounds like a hint to maybe another platforms in the future, but that the focus now is PS4.

    • NegaScott128

God, I hope he goes crazy with the alternate dimension stuff and we end up with like 10 Norman Reedi by the end of the game.

      >It has a plot

That’s a very strange thing to say. Maybe your comparison with Division is spot on and DS is an online shooter? Eh, hoping it’s not the case 🙁

    • ObsessedGeorge

About number 3: That’s good news for people that said that MGSV didn’t have a plot! 😛

      • Lex Radu

MGSV had a plot, it had A LOT of plot in the first hour alone(hospital scene) however what it lacked, was a main story, it wasn’t about anything in particular, it was like those TV Show without a focus on a major main story (Breaking Bad for example), it was about the characters and their subplots, some we’re resolved, and some went nowhere.

The Story didn’t matter in TPP, it wasn’t about that.

You could say that TPP is the “Pulp Fiction” of the Metal Gear Series, it has no main story, it’s not about a lot of things, but not anything in particular, but it’s entertaining as hell, and the plot is so stacked that a lot of things happened in it’scutscenes, there is no cutscene without a plot.

        • Lex Radu

Ultimately TPP felt like a first season in a show that was supposed to be at least 2 seasons, if not 3!

        • Lex Radu

Ultimately TPP felt like the season of a Canceled TV Series that was supposed to run for at least 2 or 3 seasons.

          • Eugene Voldo

Good but somewhat wrong allegory. Wrong in a way that MGSV wanted to explain things no one wanted to be explained. It’s like if Stephen King wrote a prequel about that big black man from “Green Mile” explaining in details where and how he got his mystic powers. Same thing with MGSV. Who cared about Liquid’s childhood? Or what happened to Volgin after his death? It’s a game about explaining stuff for the sake of explaining. Or more precisely – for the sake of «METAL GEAR SAGA» moniker. Problem is, Kojima never planned MGS as a saga.

          • Lex Radu

It wasn’t about Liquid if you think about it, it was about Psycho Mantis recruiting Eli and Quiet, and how he created “Sons of Big Boss”

          • InternecivusRaptusStrikesBack

The guy from green mile is jesus tho

      • Tom Brearley-Smith

I’m willing to bet that people who say that MGSV “didn’t have a plot” probably didn’t listen to the cassette tapes. There’s this one video on YouTube that compiles all the cassette tapes and the total length is approximately 6 hours.

    • Full Options

      4) Another thing we had of course expected but it is always nice to see Kojima confirming with some hand gestures, that naked (or not naked) Norman is yet controllable and able to hang around in some dummy areas.

Although it also gave me the impression / confirmation that we are still far from any gameplay footage, unless he was just trying to not reveal too much details, but the way he described it feels like their samples are still way too native to be show-cased at any point this year.
Could be mistaken, only my speculations..

  • NegaScott128

Well, at least Kojima got to meet De Niro.
