I don’t think that Kojima would talk shit about MGS2

      • PrinceHeir

I remember it’s one of his ambitious project at that time. It was his first time going to US as well NY to take pictures and do references for the final battle.

    • Ugh, can we keep Youtube comments off here? These people…

Again, and even more than before:
The one ready to print youtube comments on whatever paper quality should never worry about wiping his ass for more than an eternity with so massive assets….

Well, one thing for sure: Tomokazu Fukushima was a crucial part for MGS scenario team. You can see the huge difference in quality between MGS1-3 and MGS4.

        • Not really…

Well that’s you know … That’s just like your opinion man

          • Sure. Just like MGS4 being less in quality than the other titles.

I barely guess I prefer 3’s story over 4’s but it can only remain a guess… All of them are so closely awesome to each others…
Due to the progress of the medium, there are so extremely entertaining and varied moments popping in my mind… It is impossible to tell, now I am thinking about MGS2 and so on…

          • Yeah each game is great in its own way.

          • Full Options

In its own and autonomous way… I mean every single one could be a distinct success even if they were not related to each other.. Koji-signature or something… ;D

The narrative issues and writing issues that are regarded as factual say the contrary . If you want to love a mess that’s your choice but that doesn’t make it a masterpiece . The only reason mgs4 manages to succeed to be a bit emotional is because all of those moments were extremely set up but even they were sloppy . Apart from the shadow moses flashback cutscene and the big boss reunion .The kissing scene with Johnny Sasaki is..
The ray vs Rex and Ocelot’s Ha got you moment in my unpopular opinion is ruined by Raiden who stupidly loses his arms . Mgs4 may have tons of epic moments but most of them come out Anime versions of Michael Bay setpieces but with actual masterful cinematography and colour grading which is the craft of Kojima alongside his game design . His writing however … Hit or miss . But he’s never made any shit game . Mgsv has so much negatives yet it’s so addictive ..

          • ‘Factual’.

          • HoxtoniteIsLoveHoxtoniteIsLife

Flaws in a story are facts that you can’t deny 😉
Enjoy your hot mess I guess

          • HoxtoniteIsLoveHoxtoniteIsLife

That being said the comment is retarded . Mgs was never intended to be realistic . We have games like spec ops for this . Mgs is batshit anime shit but way morrrre deep and with a hollywood flavouring . I may be a exagerrating though

    • Dear @kingofdisgust:disqus , these youtube experts know nothing about the development of Metal Gear games and they don’t know the methodology behind them.

    • PrinceHeir

While some of it have some truth in it(like Writers helping out Kojima), most of these are just gibberish garbage. In fact, Kojima said one of his advice to make yourself known this year is to betray your audience. Pretty sure he’s referencing MGS2/MGSV on it.

Will never know the truth since Metal Gear is finished. Unless Konami has plans to it beyond Survive.

Idk how to feel about that comment, I mean while I truly enjoy all the metal gear games, and the way Kojima works, there is no way to know for sure if what he is saying is true or not. For that reason I do not think that the situation of the Kojima-Konami fallout is a black or white kind of situation, we will probably never know the whole truth about that or about who wrote what game and who did what and for that I say good luck to Konami on whatever they do and Good luck to Kojima on his future videogames, as he said it himself, he wouldn’t be the person he is today if it wasn’t for Konami.

    • Lamp123

Fukushima and Kojima co-wrote the script/codecs together for MGS1-3. Not sure what this person is on about … Also MGS3 was originally directed by someone else, but they had trouble putting the game together. Then Kojima came back to take over and direct MGS3, which turned out to be a fantastic game.

Also for MGSV, there were 4 writers for the script …. not just Kojima lol. He even credits who wrote which episodes in the opening credits … (if you didn’t know, Kojima didn’t write all the episodes )

Now for Death Stranding, he’s back to one co-writer (Kenji Yano), which is a good thing. Having too many writers for one script can lead to “too many cooks spoil the broth” situation.

    • Kojimaphile

Pfft. Kojima isn’t a genius because of his writing skills. Kojima is a genius because he has vision that generally produces above-average games. The Metal Gear Solid games are more than just enjoyable writing: they are genuinely near-perfect games thanks to how much thought goes into them. And Kojima puts a lot of thought into what he is creating.

It’s clear when you take Death Stranding into consideration. Little is known, but he spent a LOT of time just trying to figure out what engine to use. When he talks about the game, it’s clear he has a vision for how the game plays and functions.

tl;dr Kojima is a genius because Metal Gear is more than just a good narrative

seemingly unpopular opinion: the series’ game design and mechanics are much more intricate than the story Kojima is trying to tell (typically)
