Metal Gear Solid V trailer getting finalized, is for mature audiences only

Almost there! Tomorrow, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be shown at Konami’s pre-E3 show at 10 am PDT. You will be able to watch a live stream on GameSpot.

Kojima and his team are hard at work putting the final touches to the trailer.

Another interesting bit: Kojima posted a photo of the final sound check.

As you can see, this trailer is rated for mature audiences only, unlike Peace Walker, which was rated for teen. Looks like we will see a pretty dark game.

This is a comment Kojima made on that earlier:

“I’m going to be targeting a lot of taboos, a lot of mature themes, that really are quite risky. Honestly, I’m not even sure if i’ll be able to release the game! […] As a producer, it’s my job to try and sell the game. But I’m approaching this project from the point of view of a creator, where I’m prioritizing creativity over sales.”

On a sidenote, in the tweet that accompanied the photo above, Kojima said he was ‘mixing the first’, which implies we may get more than one trailer.

I wonder what theme and ideas Kojima has put into the series this time that it has earned itself an M rating for this one; anyhow can’t wait to see it tomorrow cuz I want this game! Who’s with me?

    • Nyxus

We know the game will use mature themes, and will take risks (I added an older quote by Kojima to the post). Not sure what these thing will be, but I can’t wait for tomorrow either.

      • Nekkedsnake

agreed. kojima is a risk taker and it showed in MGS2. every MGS fan had a WTF moment with it.

as for the theme being a Four letter word ending in E try this heheh:

      • Nekkedsnake

yknow, maybe the word is NUKE haha. maybe there will be a Nuke fired by a Metal Gear and BB will be the one to fire it.

    • Fredy Carius

mature themes with 4 letters ending with “e”. Maybe RAPE? hahaha jk

    • Markos

      Seeeeex!!! 😉

  • liquid snake

hmm.. kojima san tries something new.. let’s hope we won’t get disappointed. but I trust in him

  • ObsessedGeorge

Just one more day people! The hype train is about to go off the rails!! 🙂

    • Nyxus

“So it’s come down to it, has it. We’re going to launch that show and ride it all the way into history.”

      • ObsessedGeorge

“I’ve got to take care of some last minute preparations. You’re in charge here, Nyxus.”

        • Nyxus

“This is where the fun really begins.”

          • PrinceHeir

“Better hurry! It’s going to blow!!!”

  • PrinceHeir

    one more day huh? 😀

and the reason why Peace Walker was teen is because kojima wanted to sell the game on PSP which consists of lots of young people.

he even tried to include the electric baton torture scene intact, but wasn’t able to and instead was replace by a “laughing” baton

also i think the japanese Peace Walker bubble text is english(they probably didn’t have enough space to put the kanji words) and the subs are in japanese.

pretty cool if you ask me 😛

can’t wait for more Big Boss!!

with the disappointment of Deus Ex The Fall being a mobile and not a sequel to HR.

    this is my hope!!!!!

    • Nekkedsnake

HAHAHA that youtube clip is priceless!

I’m with all you guys, I cannot wait for tomorrow’s pre e3 show!!!

I bet the first thing we’ll see is BB crawling up the cliffside, take off his NVGs and say “KEPT YOU WAITING, HUH?” with Hayter’s voice!

      ONE. MORE. DAY!

    • Nyxus

Yeah, and Kojima wasn’t happy about having to censor Peace Walker. So it looks like this time he’s going all out. 😛

      • Nekkedsnake

        there IS this though:

I was pleasantly surprised when BB said that during a convo with Kaz. the only other MGS games to exhibit any profanity was MGS3 (during a codec convo with Sigint about the topic of SHIT), and MGS4 when Laughing Octopus says “it’s all so FUCKING hysterical!”

PW is the only Portable MGS game that i know though that throws in a swear word or two.

        • Nyxus

Yeah. From what I understand EVA swears in the Japanese version of MGS3, in English she says ‘go to hell’ or something like that.

          • solidmatt

Don’t forget the Fury in MGS3. He yells shit when you hit him with an exploding barrel.

          • PrinceHeir

            nice catch 😀

        • ObsessedGeorge

That’s why i love MGS. Having swear words just degrades the script’s quality. Take a look at the remake of EVIL DEAD. Swears, swears, swears. It all means shitty writting to me.

    • Nekkedsnake

Btw I know what u mean about the DXHR to be on mobile. Tho it doesn’t look too bad for mobile but I would rather have the sequel on my ps3 heheh.

  • Erick Mattos

Just incase it’s not Hayter, you can view the Kept you waiting, huh? Voice over on a fan made dub (Very well done too) on the GZ trailer.

    About 21 hours left!
Damn, this will make my day.

    • ttm

More like 2 years. Legacy is a stop gap game for this year. And then they do Legacy XB1 next year before 2015. This has all the looks of dragging on like the development of MGS4…

  • ObsessedGeorge

    Here’s something else i found:
“Ishmael” – By dictionary: means a person who is rejected (from society or home)

    • Iain

You may already know this, but the opening line of the classic book “Moby Dick” is “Call me Ishmael.” Another interesting thing, although it may be unrelated to the game, is that Ishmael is the name of Abraham’s second son in Biblical tradition. In the Koran however, Isaac’s name is replaced with Ishmael’s. That being said, the Koran’s telling of that part of the story of Abraham has a lot of thematic differences to that of the Bible.
