Kojima: Metal Gear Solid V should look even better on the next gen

During the E3, Kojima said in an interview with Polygon that the studio is aiming for a game that looks a lot better than what they showed this week.

“While we were developing on current-gen, next-gen came long. We’re really trying to reach the peak of the current generation right now โ€” 360, PS3 โ€” and then see how much we can take it up for the next-generation.”

“Once we start going into development for next-generation we’re definitely looking for something better than we have shown today.” Kojima said, talking about the E3 trailer.

Kojima Productions is aiming for a higher resolution and a framerate of 60 FPS for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions. There are also plans for giving the player he ability to use their smartphone or tablet, but how exactly that will work is not clear yet.

This will run like a dream at 60 FPS

I suppose Koj will do for MGSV what he did for MGSHD Collection with the frame rate. Mgs2 and 3 already looked decent but PW looked ridiculous at 60fps. Having played it on my psp I noticed the difference right away!

Same here. Sometimes i “transfar” my saves to my psp and play the game with some friends, but then when i get home and put the save back in my ps3, DAMN, it plays like another game

      • Nekkedsnake

Ya I basically walk around for a few minutes admiring its smoothness haha. I mean for me PW looked good enough on my psp but shit got real on HD hahah.

  • PrinceHeir

    60FPS and 1080p graphics please Kojima-san!!!

  • TheForgotten

Hard to believe, but does this imply that what we saw in the E3 videos is MGSV running on current gen hardware? ๐Ÿ˜
If so, I guess my PS3 will give me a satisfying first MGSV experience…

    • Nyxus

It’s running on PC, with current gen hardware as a ‘guideline’.

      • TheForgotten

Ok, then this Fox Engine is amazingly good at squeezing everything that is possible out of the current gen hardware. Great job Kojima!
        Getting stoked here, haha.

As someone who renders graphics myself, it’s not as hard to convert 30fps to 60fps. It’s increasing character and environment textures is what is difficult, but I’m sure MGSV will be smooth at 1080p
