Kojima was shown the new Metal Gear Online, says it looks promising

A few days ago, Hideo Kojima attended the opening of the new Kojima Productions studio on Los Angeles. This department will be creating the online portion of Metal Gear Solid V, the new Metal Gear Online. No one has seen it so far – except for Kojima of course.

In another tweet Kojima mentioned the staff of the earlier MGO games is still involved in the development of the game.

MGO’s been developed @ LA studio by our elite staffs. KoreP & original MGO dev staffs check frequently.

When MGO will be revealed to the public has not been announced, but Metal Gear Solid V will be at the Tokyo Game Show later this month.

i do wonder if the LA staff has what it takes to make the game as fun as the first MGO.

though i was hoping it would be a much more different style instead of the typical run and gun arcade style.

something like Spies vs Mercs in Splinter Cell Blacklist.

i want to feel a spy hiding out of enemy sight and taking them out like the elite soldier that you are.

also put a Duel 1 v 1 mode like in the first MGO.

as well as put some of the characters from past games ala Resident Evil Mercenaries(though i would rather save this on the Remakes of MSX games)

overall i can’t wait for this!!!

I also wonder about it. Makes me kinda worried as well… Lest hope for the best. If it is like MPO, or even like the mp from Peace Walker, on a larger scale, then it will be good enough.

However, being made by a different team, makes me wonder if we gonna have something like GTA/RDR (Free roam and matches on the single player open world) or like the classic MPO (Matches separated by maps).

Hope we can get both, but its unlikely i guess…

cool, I’m just glad that it wont be detracting anything from the main game like some companies have done this gen.

Man I want some MGSV news.

All I want is Shadow Moses, Tanker and Plant.

Never got to play MGO for MGS4 🙁 But I hope the experience feels fresh since Kojima is bringing it back for MGSV.

It was actually quite good, and Unique.

I didn’t get to play it because I didn’t own PS3 until I got the PS3 Super Slim last Christmas, which I got with MGS4, but it was too late since in June 2012 Kojima had already shut down the servers for it by then so I missed out by 6 months 🙁 But now that’s it’s coming back in MGSV, I can’t wait to see what Kojima does next for MGO. As I’d seen what it looks like and sorta how it played but never experienced it so I wonder how Kojima will revolutionize online play this time.

  • man MGO on MGS4 was the best balanced online game I’ve ever played!
i truly wish many games copied it’s mechanic and features!
i hope MGO 5 doesn’t stray too much from MGO4’s design.
