Several Japanese websites are displaying a new advertisement for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, that states the game has already shipped over 3 million copies worldwide.
This is what the ad looks like:
The translation reads as follows:
“Cumulative worldwide shipments: three million copies breakthrough.”
These are some impressive early numbers, but keep in mind they are just ‘shipped’, which is not quite the same as ‘sold’. Shipped means the amount Konami sold to retailers, and sold means the number the retailers have sold to customers. This means copies that are still on store shelves have been shipped, but not yet sold.
Still, it’s a very good start!
