Watch Kojima Productions staff act out Death Stranding scenes during production
The fourth anniversary of Kojima Productions is coming up (the studio officially opened on December 16 2015), and Kojima has been sharing some entertaining videos he and his team shot in preparation for the performance capture shoots. They act out the scene to visualize it and determine what props they need and how large the room needs to be.

The previous video from April 2017. We expanded our space and it became the scanning room but before we use this empty space for practicing camera directions & its constructions. as well as the camera work. Based on this, we can expect how large room we need for the performance capture set, as well as large/‘small props. We also prepare for the CGI to be ready for the rehearsal and the shooting.

Shooting simultaneously by putting markers on the camera for taking the performance capture is the usual step but we put markers on the handy camera instead for reference and used it at the shooting.

Then we let the actors to act. Here, we exchange ideas on site and fix the final movements and then action!
Aside from the makeshift props and environments, it’s notable how close the scenes in this stage already are to their final results in terms of mise en scène and camera work. It shows how clear an image Kojima has in his head in the earliest phase of development.
