Jordan Vogt-Roberts gives brief update on Metal Gear Solid movie

Director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who is currently working to get the Metal Gear Solid movie off the ground, has given a brief update on the status of the project. At the end of a twitter thread in which he notes the similarities between the newly released Black Widow trailer by Marvel Studios and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, he said a few words about the movie that was announced back in 2012. He also shared a photo of the new draft, together with a copy of the first Metal Gear game signed by Hideo Kojima.

I’m sorry can’t update you on the MGS film more regularly… but:
– We just turned in a new draft. It’s full Kojima-quirk and full Military surrealism. I won’t say more
– I’m hoping to meet a specific actor very soon 🙂
– Let’s make this movie!

From Jordan’s words, it doesn’t seem like we should expect the film anytime soon, but at least it doesn’t seem to be dead yet. And if nothing else, they got the font right!

During the summer of 2018, Jordan Vogt-Roberts shared a ton of artwork created for the movie, in celebration of Metal Gear’s 31st anniversary. The director also met with Kojima several times over the past few years, and he had a cameo as a character in Death Stranding.
