Shinkawa and Kojima take us behind the scenes of Death Stranding

As part of a series by website Gamespot titled Audio Logs, in which developers talk about how they made their games, Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa break down one of Death Stranding’s cutscenes, that was first shown during The Game Awards 2017. As one of the first scenes in the game, this serves as a tutorial of sorts explaining some of the game’s mechanics. In the video, Kojima and Shinkawa explain how they hint at some of these mechanics in the scene and where some of the ideas came from.

Additionally, Kojima shared some early artwork and graphics explaining the concept behind the game.

Found in my iPhone, the sketch by Yoji Shinkawa from early days of DS concept period. At that time there was no written script so I just verbally explained what the warriors space is like to him. We used to call it DEAD STRANDING as another name.
While I was writing the concept for the next project I found the old documents in my computer, I miss those early days of working on DS presentation doc.
