As many already know, ‘race’ and ‘revenge’ will be the main story themes in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. But another recurring theme will be the concept of loss: the phantom pain. This was explained on the Kojima Productions Alert 4, the official podcast of the studio.
Sean Eyestone, host of the studio’s podcast, explained: “All the characters somehow have lost something. This game is about that pain, that pain that they feel from losing, wether it’s a leg or an arm, or their voice or comrades.”
He also said that if you look at the trailer with that in mind, you start to notice some things that convey this theme: Skull Face losing his face, Quiet losing her voice.
“And there’s some hints.” he added. “That’s why we have those little character descriptions there.”
