Every console version of Metal Gear Survive tested by Digital Foundry

Now that the final build of Metal Gear Survive is available, Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry has tested every console version (Xbox One, Xbox One X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro) to see how it fares from a technical standpoint.

The results are mixed. While the Fox Engine still shows its strengths in performance (aside from the Xbox One version, all the versions hit close to 60 frames per second), the color palette is described as ‘drab’, particularly because of the lack of distinctive lighting that added a lot of flair to MGSV. The Xbox One version seems to be the worst in both resolution and performance, and is actually a step back from The Phantom Pain.

In short, here are the specifications of each version:

PlayStation 4 – 1600×1080 ~60 fps
PS4 Pro – 2134×1440 (1088×1440 core pixel count) ~60 fps / 1600×1080 60fps
Xbox One – 720p 40 – 60 fps (almost consistently below 60 fps)
Xbox One X – 2560×1440, ~60fps (low frame rates in the Dust)
