God of War director Cory Barlog visits Kojima Productions

Cory Barlog, director of this year’s smash hit game God of War, has paid a visit to Kojima Productions in Japan and got a tour from Hideo Kojima himself.

“Ok…so…this morning I did a thing…”
“Today I got to spend a couple of hours with Hideo Kojima. He was so very kind to give me a tour of his magnificent studio and share some insight to what he is working on.”
“There is nothing more rewarding, as a creative, than having another creative show you what they are working on and talking you through it. It is truly inspiring to see the passion from another director when they lift the curtain a little.”

Cory also brought a gift for Kojima, carved wooden figures representing Kratos and his son Atreus.

“It is these moments that really fuel your own creative engine, pushing you to do more and to do better. Thank you to @Kojima_Hideo for inviting me into your creative home and invigorating me with a little bit of inspiration!
🤔…Oh, and for signing my copy of MGS!”
“The director of God of War, CORY BALROG has visited Kojima Productions. Received Kratos and Atreus chess pieces.👍🌈🦀🐟🐋😍”

Cory has stated earlier this year that he learned a lot from Kojima’s games, and it sounds like this visit has given him inspiration as well.

The two directors may meet again later this week at The Game Awards on December 6th, where God of War has been nominated several times and Death Stranding is expected to make an appearance – perhaps even a release date.

Update 1: Ted Price of Insomniac Games has also paid a visit to Kojima’s studio. Both Cory and Ted were in Japan for the PlayStation Awards, to each receive a Gold Prize (shipment of 500.000) and a User Choice Prize for God of War and Spider-Man.

“Ted Price, the founder of INSOMNIAC, the long-established studio who recently made the smash hit game, Spiderman (PS4) has visited Kojima Productions!”

Ted Price: “Thank you and your team so much for the hospitality Hideo Kojima! I loved seeing the studio and Death Stranding is looking incredible!”

Update 2: Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of the Super Smash Brothers series (Solid Snake will make an appearance in the latest entry releasing this Friday), also dropped by Kojima’s studio.
