Metal Gear Series Sells 1.21 Million in (Fiscal) 2011

Konami has announced their financial results for the April-December 2011 period. Their profits have risen 77% last year, which was mainly due to the Pro Evolution series. Metal Gear was the second strongest performer last year, selling 1.21 million units. During this period the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection was released in both Japan and the United States (in Japan Peace Walker was released separately from MGS2 and MGS3).

Based on the numbers of this period Konami raised their projections for the remaining fiscal year, ending March 31st. Releases for this period include Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for Europe on February the 3rd, Metal Gear Solid 3D on March 8th in Europe and Japan and on February 21st in the US.

Later this year will see the release of Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, and possibly the MGS HD Collection for PlayStation Vita.

This year will also mark the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear series, for which Konami presumably has something planned. At this time it is unknown what this will be.
