A total of 3.1 million Metal Gear games were sold in 2025

Konami has updated the lifetime global sales for the Metal Gear franchise, and the total number is now at 65.5 million, as of the end of December of 2025. This means 400,000 games were sold in the last three months of last year. It’s a steep decline from the 1.8 million copies that were sold in the preceding quarter, but that was to expected as Q3 saw the release of Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater, which Konami confirmed has sold over a million units.

It’s been a successful year for the franchise, with a total of 3.1 million games sold across all four quarters. This is significantly more than the four years before it, when the series sold around 1.4 million annually on average.

2021: 1.1 million
2022: 1.5 million
2023: 1.6 million
2024: 1.3 million
2025: 3.1 million

Konami is currently working on Volume 2 of the Master Collection, and it remains to be seen where else they will take the historic franchise next.
