Close Up: Metal Gear Figgyz Wave 1
First4Figures, a company known for its high end licenced statues has launched a new product line called Figgyz. The idea behind this product is that it’s a lot more affordable and does not take up as much space as their usual statues, which can be quite large and pricey. These new figures have more of a collectible appeal and are much easier on the wallet (but despite their compact size they still have a solid feel).
The line will encompass multiple franchises, one of which is Metal Gear. Each magnetic figure has been designed in the same pixelated art style for consistency, and comes with its own special metal background related to that character. The background is reversible as well, with a more simplified ‘classic background’ on the other side as opposed to the ‘themed background’. As for displaying options, each figure comes with a base you can slot the background card in, or you can use the included adhesive magnet for hanging on walls or other surfaces.
There’s also a chance you will find an additional gold, silver or bronze background included with the product, so you will also have this rare plate aside from the regular backgrounds. Chances of this are 1%, 3% and 6% respectively, for a 10% chance overall.
There will also be an app with which you can track your collection and collect special points, as part of a loyalty program. Furthermore, you can scan the QR code on the back of each figure to view some information about it. The app will also allow you to track and organise your collection, among other things.
Below are our pictures of Wave 1 of the Metal Gear line. The first 1000 are labeled 1st Edition.

Chase Variants

Having received the samples ourselves, we can say it’s a very nice product. It doesn’t feel cheaply made, the background cards have a pleasant texture and weight, as well as the characters themselves. And especially those Chase Variants (the bronze, silver and gold background cards) are quite impressive, with a real metal weight and feel to them.
The Figgyz will cost $14.99. Since Metal Gear Informer is part of the affiliate program, our readers receive a special discount when ordering through us. By using the code METALGEARINFORMEREA, you can get a 5% discount on your first order, with no order minimum during the early access period, which is until the end of the year. After that period, the 5% discount will remain in effect, but the order minimum for it will be $50. At that time, the coupon code will be MGICOUPON.
Lastly, a free digital cardgame called Figgyz Verse is also included, in which you level characters to eventually obtain a free physical Figgyz figure of that original character.
