Japanese Promo Video and website for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Konami Japan has released a new promotional video and website promoting Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. It’s about a guy who at the beginning of the spot sees Snake taking it upon himself to pull the trigger and eliminate Quiet when necessary (in the Japanese script he says: “When the time comes, I’ll do it.”). The guy then proceeds to make sacrifices himself to help others in need without seeking recognition, becoming a ‘meta-man’.

Metal Gear Solid certainly changed my life all those years ago…
“Nice” video.
I would save that DD too from the rain ;(…
Don’t make me cry like a bitch man. I got a soft spot for dogs.
WHEW!……I gotta go outside for a second *Sniffle*
27 days brothers
26 more self-inflicting cuts to go. The phantom pain from these will linger. Joyous pain.
MGSV
Very nice message. So from the video even if your communication skills are not top notch, you can still help society in different ways. 🙂
Kind of ironic how Konami uploaded this video, especially after rumours that were recently leaked about them treating their employees like trash.
Do you guys think it’s kinda like Batman AK’s promotional video “be the hero” ? Not a total copy, but send the same message. Help others in need.
I see what you mean, it is weird for TPP to be sending that message though, lol, we are supposed to be sacrificing everyone and everything for the single object of our revenge, lol.
Then maybe it want to told us about good revenge, avenge bad people or behavior or environment by helping or contributing in a positive way to make things better. Just like Kojima did to Konami maybe 😛
I will be Selfless! . .We are all Diamond Dogs
Metal Gear Solid Changed my life!
Thx Hideo Kojima e Kojima Productions, you make’s me a better person. 🙂
Great video
MGS will make all of us better persons 🙂
Awesome Promo Video! wish we’d get stuff like this in the U.S.
650 hours left…
Well done, I like it. Still don’t like Konami but nonetheless a good video.
We Diamond Dogs help and comfort not just each other but those in need. I feel that message.
For those of you who may be wondering the music is by a Japanese band called White Ash. The guy in the beginning of this video is the guitarist/singer. Here’s a link to one of their songs http://youtu.be/Uo5rUDYDXuk
That video makes no sense. It doesn’t explain anything about what MGS V is. It’s as if they are trying to sell it to a completely different social group. Maybe Mom’s bookclub will pick it up and have good old chinwag? I can see them cackling about it for hours.
Has anyone noticed that they fixed the hair/skin clipping we were talking about? Koji Pro rules!
The Fox Engine still cannot do transparent texturing properly. The hair still looks pixelated up close.
Nice!
Lots of Deja Vu for me lol. Those that don’t seek recognition are the best.
Also, they used the scene from Quiet specifically for the dialogue, which as he pointed out, is “I’ll do it” rather than “I’ll pull the trigger”. Out of context it fits with the theme of the commercial since they’re all “doing it” when “the time comes”. Anyone who sees the commercial and hasn’t seen the cutscene wont have the context of killing Quiet when the time comes. Metal Gear fans know the series basically makes you better, but the commercial is for general audiences that may not have played an MGS.
