Kiefer Sutherland will be playing Snake in MGSV, game will have very dark tone
Finally, it’s official. As some people already figured out, Kiefer Sutherland will be the new voice of Snake in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Kojima explained the game takes place in 1984, and Snake is now 49 years old. Because much is done with motion capture and performance capture this time around, Kojima followed the advice of Avi Arad and asked Kiefer Sutherland for the role. The actor accepted the offer, saying he despite not playing video games himself, knew about the famous series. For this game, Kojima wanted Snake’s emotions to be expressed through facial expression and vocal performance rather than words.
Kojima also stated the game will have some very heavy subjects, and a much darker tone than before. Kojima said:
“This time with Metal Gear Solid V the themes are a little different from previous games in the series. We’re taking on some very heavy subjects, such as race and revenge. This makes the tone much darker.”

yeah I was really excited for the trailer also just watched gdc’s again and if this trailer is half as good as that one it will be worth the wait. hopefully we don’t have to wait till next week.

I think the trailer might be for E3. Kiefer Sutherland as Snake is very disappointing.

the problem i have with Kiefer Sutherland is that while i don’t mind him being Big Boss, does that mean they’ll have to bring him back in future games(specifically MG MSX Remakes)
oh and i also remember Kiefer Sutherland is one of the highest paid actors in canada(at the time of 24) so Konami US has been paying a lot of money to him.
im curious who will voice act Big Boss in the japanese version Phantom Pain.
Akio already got the role in Ground Zero, so maybe his father Chikao Otsuka(like in MGS4)?
in any case im fine with the japanese version, but wary about the english voice cast.
especially as we get closer to the timeline of the remakes
I can understand getting a new voice actor for Big Boss cause they will probably eventually cross over each other(him and snake). but if they change the voice for solid snake that’s when I’d be pissed.

Isn’t Avi Arad supposed to be involved with the MGS movie? This Keifer Sutherland garbage stinks of movie tie-in. Perhaps they are trying to get us used to Sutherland as Snake because he will be playing him in the movie. Why else hire someone so expensive for facial acting/voice acting. He really don’t need a Hollywood actor for that.

Hold up… Did Kojima specifically SAY anywhere that Keifer was the Voice of Big Boss? We all saw the MoCap and know for sure he was doing that… But is it still possible that the may use Keifers acting and David’s Voice?? Perhaps I am just broken hearted…
it was clearly stated that Keifer will play BB….you can see below Keifer Sutherland name *Snake* as in he is titled to voice Snake/Big Boss….

In other words… Kojima disappointed every Metal Gear fan out there because they didn’t show new trailer, there is no information at all (Snake’s voice is depressing for most of the fans and it’s still unclear if Kiefer Sutherland is indeed BB because the guy that helps BB in the hospital sounds like him.)
This is an outrage to be honest because you can’t play That much with fans expectations and in my opinion this is a poor message by Konami and Kojima Productions. H. Kojima even posted three screenshots from a trailer and in the end we never saw it…
I’m sure there will be trailer eventually (maybe at E3 or Sony’s Press conference) but this time they just lost the hype that was through the roof.

COULD STILL BE A TROLL! Kiefer kept saying “this character” and kojima was kinda avoiding the connection too. It just says hes “Snake” could be someone else with the same code name or perhaps a clone? Only thing i cant explain is motion capture… Oh well nevermind then.
