Metal Gear figures at San Diego Comic Con – ‘young Psycho Mantis’ gets a name
At San Diego Comic Con several Metal Gear figures by Play Arts are on display, among them Venom Snake (various versions), DD, Ocelot, the Man of Fire and the Psycho Mantis-like character we’ve seen in several trailers.
Judging from the information sign the Mantis kid is called ‘Tretij Rebenok’, which translates to ‘Third Child’.
DD seems to be wearing a visor on his head.

Haha it’s like they’re using the figures too tease more speculation. Okay.. Now this is a wild shot. What if Quiet.. Is somehow the first clone test of Big Boss. Very first and due to rapid ageing, she’s older than “Eli and Eli 2″maybe Solid””. He knows she’s his daughter but Kaz and Ocelot don’t know. But she dies before Metal Gear.
And even so. Nothing about Solidus at all. And Frank Jaegar. I mean they’re pretty important. Solidus would of had some interaction to come off as Big Boss himself.
Kojima doesn’t want to spoil all the characters that are going to be in TPP in the trailers haha.
The African child soldiers seen in the trailers … I’m interested to see how they play a part into the story. 🙂

She couldn’t be a clone because she’s not a genetic copy of Big Boss. For starters, she’s a woman. 😛
There was never any reference to gender. Clones can be female aswell. And all and all. You can’t say she isn’t genetic copy. No one knows until the game is released. And as a reference of MGS cloning. The time it took for Solid Snake to reproduce between Tanker and Big Shell as a S3 project. Anything is possible……
Because Zero doesn’t want another “The Boss” he wants another “Big Boss”, neat theory but doesn’t make any sense at all story wise and seems like wishful thinking on your part.

Genetics are nothing. All males start off female in early stages in the womb it’s been proven.. I’m sure kojima thought of that before writing MG

Maybe it refers to the 3rd person that took part ( or was forced to) in experiments regarding psychic abilities at that university (can’t remember the name). He was the sole survivor after the experiments or something along those lines.

Or maybe he’s just the third child in the family which, considering the numerous famines in Russia[1], might just mean that he was unwanted and another mouth to feed (especially considering how his birth killed the mother which is a pair of hands capable of working and procuring food). I don’t think we are ever told if he had any siblings?
Nevertheless that could be reasonable I suppose :).

The next MGS game should be a prequel about THE BOSS (The joy). How she formed the Cobra Unit, fell pregnant and how they won the war for the Allies. Fox Engine would be perfect for such a game. The Joy is a far more interesting character then Naked/Solid Snake. Could also be a way for Konami to play it safe for a future, Kojima-less, MGS title.

YES!. Snake as a character is nothing special. He has no past or origin really. Just a cool raspy voice. We knew very little about him. John/Jack, what is it? The Boss won the war for the Allies, created the special forces, was the first American in space and developed CQC. All while giving birth(Ocelot) on the battlefield and going into a coma, TWICE! Was never publicly recognized for her efforts and then got betrayed. There is plenty to show and tell. They need to give the Snake character a rest, especially with Kojima gone now.

As cool as that would be, I’d rather they leave much The Boss’ history as a mystery (even though a lot of background was filled in by the Peace Walker tapes). In a way, we know about as much as Snake when it comes to The Boss. Just enough information to know what kind of person she was

Snake Eater is his best game until TPP comes out. Which I’m sure will surpass MGS3. MGS3 has the best story and the best boss fights in the series. The End and The Boss. Legendary!
Kojima said his favorite metal gear game is MGS1 and Im agree with him, OSt, Bosses (not pokemons without characterization), main villain, Metal Gear fight, all better in the good old ps1 game.
is a good question and yes, the name is kind of suspicious but i think that’s not the case, he tell the story of how he burned the entire village when he was a kid and also mention the story of his father in MGS1
Could also be the third Mantis child. Tretij Rebenok may not even be Pyscho Mantis. In fact, the kid looks female. A sister and a Paz clone? Remember Kojima by mistake mentioned clones in a recent interview. He said “I shouldn’t have said that”. The Les Enfant Terribles project isn’t the only cloning or gene manipulation project. I sense a serious mindfuck coming our way.
you’re right, there is so much of the story that we don’t know that it could be anyone, is fun to speculate but i have the feeling that we are not even close to the real story behind TPP

yeah, sometimes i doubt that it’s mantis, too. just like in the MGS 2 trailer, where kojima led us to believe that Big Boss may be the villain.

Not yet, but yeah, we already saw it painted. Same for Ocelot, so it’s kind of weird they’re on display in unpainted state. But who knows what the reason is.

I had great pix of these on Wednesday but someone stole my phone 🙁
I took some pix of them with a crappier phone and purchased the exclusive snake(I prefer the sneaking suit version but I can get that one later. Representatives said that exclusive snake is only being sold at a few big events), the quiet and the skull face figure. Each fingure cost $100. I’ll open them up to get better pix later in next week. I still have two more days of con to go..
My phone had some cool cosplay pix on it as well as a sad yet funny pic of the Konami booth. The Konami boot his NOTHING but promotional stuff for a Yugio game. Any mgs stuff I saw like the figures at squeenix or the new sexy sniper wolf statuette was all at other booths. Btw, I know the quality sucks but i got a shot of the back of young mantis.

I think he will feature a bit more heavily in TPP compared to MGS1. Hope for more breaking the fourth wall moments haha.
