Metal Gear series sells over 35 million games worldwide
Konami has revealed the total sales for the Metal Gear series as of March 31st 2013. The series has now sold over 35.2 millions copies worldwide. This was announced in a press release about Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
This means the series sold over 4 million copies in the last 15 months for which numbers have been announced (from December 31 2011 until March 31 2013, through various HD collections and Metal Gear Rising Revengeance).

Haha agreed. COD cannot match MGS story wise. You basically just run around shooting stuff. It’s an fps military sim at its core. MGS is more like a series of movies. Kojima himself wanted to he a movie director at first and just transitioned into games which has been working for Him so far!
Awesome…this series is so epic and I only just started playing more than a year ago; series is approaching 30 years in due time. Can’t wait to get the Legacy Collection and The Phantom Pain. Really don’t want series to end, yet Kojima does. WHY??!!
Kojima actually wants the series to continue, developed by the younger generation of game designers, while he works on different projects.
In that case, would like to see him do more ZoE or a new IP that has the quality of Metal Gear series.
He didn’t direct or write any of the past ZOE and actually cancelled the development of ZOE3
He still helped with them though. Well that sucks
