The Quiet and DD cutscenes from TGS are now available in English
Konami has released both MGSV cutscenes that were shown at TGS on their official Youtube channel: the one showing Quiet entering Mother Base, and the scene introducing DD. Now, they are also available with English voice acting. You can check out both videos below.

My god, Kiefer did so poorly in that DD cutscene.. like you’re playing with a baby wolf and he has the most monotone disinterested delivery ever. Poor, very poor.
To be honest… I agree. the biggest problem was when Big Boss said “Ocelot raising “blerghsomething” without sarcasm. The whole point of that sentence was in sarcasm and Kiefer completely missed the point.

Yeah, I don’t understand how he got that line so wrong “An Ocelot raising hounds” how do you read that completely straight? Like just looking at the line on a piece of paper you understand this is BB taking a piss. Not to mention like.. direction, is Kris afraid to let Kiefer know when he’s horribly butchering these deliveries because he’s from hollywood? I’m just confused, Kiefer is better than this, but a lot of his deliveries are just bad.
I agree, it baffles me that Kris is letting lines like this slip through, even in GZ I don’t like Skull Faces voice actor at all, but there were a few lines in GZ by Skull Face that were golden and I wonder why they didn’t aim to have them all like that. Kris has always been an excellent voice director but something is definitely up with MGSV’s voice directing.

I disagree, Kris has not been excellent all the way. For instance, she let Quinton Flynn completely butcher Raiden in MGS2. He wasn’t supposed to sound so moronic all the time. But anyway, her job is to make decisions which will never please everyone.
Concerning Kiefer’s monotone voice… Well, I’m not disagreeing on that one, but I can’t believe it’s not something the direction wanted. Besides, don’t we get that impression because MGS voice acting has always been over the top?
I mean, it’s the exact same story as “Kept you waiting huh” in the opening scene of GZ, people think it’s “not enough” or “not the right tone”, but someone’s opinion had to be different at some point, if we’re getting this in the final game.
Make no mistake, Sutherland as a VA is perfectly capable of more sarcasm and “over the top acting”, as shown with his performance in Monsters vs Aliens. It really all depends on the director’s intentions.
Can’t lie the Japanese voice acting is wayy more awesome, I’m tempted to play the whole game with subtitles. If I could just get my hands on a JPN version. And btw, in the GZ audio tapes the Skull Face actor delivered some of the best acting ever I listen to those tapes on my phone everyday when I’m drawing.
I personally think Japanese VA over do it at times.
Then again I don’t know Japanese and prefer to listen to English when said person does not look Japanese.
I didn’t like Skull Face’s voice actor when l first heard him, but when l gathered the tapes and replayed the game l must say that now he’s my favorite actor.
I have a problem with the localization of that line as well, the JP one is more like “A cat raising a dog?” wich adds to the joke, otherwose it gets lost in translation.
Not everyone can be as obvious as Hayter when it comes to sarcasm. 🙂

Yeah, I didn’t like Kiefer voice acting in DD part either, but point is what you said. He’s old and tired of… like everything. But we have to life with it. Also Kiefer doesn’t have same connection to characters like Hayter does.
He can only do Bauer stuff now, he’s fine in the “I’ll kill her myself” escene, but as soon as he’s doing lighthearted stuff like “play with this dog” he crumbles.
Agreed, he did the Quiet scene very nicely but here is very bad.
Not to bring Hayter into this but one of the reasons why he fit really well was his ability to do both very serious and very comical and understand both.
Man, the most out of place word is the plain “it’s”. He could’ve said “This is” or “that’s”. I don’t think i’ve ever heard the word “it’s” being used without any other phrase to acompany it. Yet again, l may be wrong.

Perhaps both. Because you seen the JP trailer first, you assume what they were saying had extreme passion. It played out in your head differently then what you heard when the English version released. However, I’m certain up until that moment in the game you’ll fully receive it much differently, now that you’re inside the shoes of V Snake. And I’m sure you have been for quite some time. That should erase any doubts.

Idk man.. even the soldiers seemed off to me. Hearing them grunt after quiet landed behind them, they sounded like pussies. They look too bad ass to sound scared or like rookies.
Do you remember the Big Shell Inicident? During the incident, remember Vamp tracked down some survivors of SEAL Team 10’s Alpha team within Strut B of Shell 1? Remember how they acted? Dishearten. Daunt. Fearful. Vamp struck terror.
Let’s take a moment and have rough overview of what a SEAL Team is.
The United States Navy’s Sea, Air, Land Teams, commonly known as the Navy SEALs, are the U.S. Navy’s principal special operations force and a part of the Naval Special Warfare Command and United States Special Operations Command.
They are practically the best of the best. Yet they were fearful. Why? Because in their eyes they were truly facing a being who has superhuman strength, speed, stamina, agility, reflexes, and durability. A super-healing factor. And he’s a skilled martial artist, swordsman, and marksman. So, no matter how ‘badass’ of a person you are, IF it’s your first time experiencing something like this- then, you are to surely believe it is a monster. A demon. In which case you are frighten.
The same situation applied here. These soldiers had an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that Quiet is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. And rightfully so. They witness a person who can turn invisible, seemingly float, and then land with a loud thump. They probably heard of her too.
I’m sure even Snake, The Boss, Raiden, and Big Boss himself had those moment…
Yes! I’ve been waiting for this. I’m getting goosebumps from Kiefer’s delivery in the Quiet cutscene.
Tbh it should have been “Shoot Her” instead of “Fire” since the Japanese used the word “utte” which means shoot her on command.
Fire still makes sense since we’re in a military, but this just my imo.
Still amazing voice on both sides. Troy Baker is a little off here, but that’s okay it’s only one scene.
Either way getting both versions! I’m still debating if i should get PS3 or PS4 due to custom OST and all.

I was thinking the same thing, I’ve liked him in the previous trailers and demos, and I didn’t find his performance off in the DD demo either, but something wasn’t right in the Quiet one.
I’m giving him a chance in other scenes.
I’m sure he can pull it off, considering he also voiced a much older character(Joel) in another game that got most GOTY awards last generation(The Last of Us)
I think he’s just speaking to loud. It makes sense with what’s going on in the scene put he’s also mixed too loud compared to Big Boss and Kaz. That’s the only problem I see with Ocelot.
I would hope that when they add MP3 support into the PS4 (whenever that will be, dammit Sony) that Kojima would update the games so that custom OST works (unless it’s already in and you just can’t use it…).
It really boils down to what you want: do you want to experience the definitive version of the game, or would you give up a few, albeit small, features so that you can listen to your personal music on Snake’s walkman?
Maybe there will be a mod for the PC version that uses Hayters dialogue from previous games. I can dream.

You might well find yourself waiting until Spike for any signs of anything, since Keighley is clearly Kojima’s go-to guy for Western announcements.
No, you don’t get it, the Game was already announced for Steam at Gamescom and in “MAN IN THE BOX” Trailer, so the question is now that is announced from at least 1 month why isn’t it there?
Probably because consoles are their main focus for now, and maybe they haven’t decided on a release window yet for the PC version.
That doesn’t change the FACT that an already announced Platform is not mention at the end, like any Game does.

That’s what i did with Ground Zeroes and everything was indeed in English, but only Japanese voices.

Kiefer sounds freaking spectacular as Big Boss and it never made sense for David Hayter to voice Big Boss anyways. Since Solidus Snake is the most perfect clone of Big Boss, Kiefer Sutherland does a great job of conveying a darker, gruffier voice for Big Boss. IMO having David Hayter voice BB as he turns into a demon would be very jarring.
Hayter /should/ voice Solid Snake though.
That depends, would be rather weird for him to voice Solid if he appears as a 12 year old kid in this game.
There’s really no certainty that the game will only take place in 1984. In fact, if we get a conclusion of Ground Zeroes, then the game starts in 1975 and jumps 9 years to the events of TPP. So who’s to say the game won’t jump some more time to the Start of Outer Haven. I keep seeing Kojima wearing a T-Shirt with the new OH logo, so we’ll definitely have that. It’s not unlikely to believe that by the end of the story Solid Snake might pop up as an older character, David Hayter or not.
Yes this is what I’ve been saying to many, we can’t know if the game only take place in 1984. I could easily see it span many more years to beginning of Outer Heaven, I mean skip years ahead etc.
But this is just my uber dream as a fan to see just a small glimpse of Big Boss and Solid Snake as adult together in a scene at TPP ending. Still who knows, what kind of awesome stuff Kojima Kaminandesu has planned for us :).
But still Kojima said months ago that “players will make the connection to Metal Gear 1” or something like that if I remember right. Whatever it means, perhaps that it don’t connect directly to MG1. But I would really cry if it happen because so happy ;).

13 minutes Missing Intro from the TGS Special Mission. I knew something was wrong since i saw that doted line that shows your path that you traversed, so i found it odd that it was there when starting the mission, but now i now the the mission started 13 minutes ago, so what could those 13 minutes be, could it be Going from Mother Base to Africa without a Loading Screen, aka Full Open World for Next-Gen Only?
You do know that those dots were when he was on the chopper and the picture is while he is on land right?

He didn’t get control of Snake until Snake opened the door.
Then the line should start from there, but instead is starting from far South-West. far like a few Kilometers.

I noticed that too. I don’t think there was a playable section before the video started. Maybe there was a cutscene that counted as mission time. Or maybe using the Phantom Cigar has some effect in the overall time, although I don’t remember that being the case in the Afghanistan demo, but maybe they changed it later.

I’m sure it was confirmed you can choose where the helicopter lands. So it makes sense to see the journey to that point.
But 13 mins is a LONG time. So hopefully you do see the journey from the base. That would be amazing.
tell me if i’m wrong, but in GZ the time counter starts at the beginning of the intro cutscene, no ? I drastically gained time to S rank the missions when I skipped the cutscenes. So i’d say it’s not an open world travel. But I’d love this 🙂 . At the end of the TGS gameplay, when snake gets back on the chopper, you can see the player can go First person view inside the chopper while travelling. Maybe we can “free roam” the map from an entry point (not from mother base), towards the mission starting point, but if you see an open world event occur, you can order the chopper to land and pause the mission ?
Downes sounds as good as ever (Probably the only VA who came out of Peace Walker sounding good IMO), Baker sounds like a solid transition between Keaton and Zimmerman, but Kiefer honestly sounds like he’s just mailing it in, particularly on the DD video. He can do vaguely comedic stuff just fine (i.e. Renegades), so maybe his schedule (or the money aspect of it?) isn’t letting Kris Zimmerman get more than a single take or two out of him at one given time?
I have love-hate relationship with Kiefers voice acting. In Quiet scene, he suprised me. Whoa, he can actually talk! But DD part. Where are emotions? Ok, maybe he’s old and tired. Troy also had okay perfomation. Quiet scene he was kinda loud but DD scene was nice. Also Robin sounded more Captain Roth from TR. I mean more than in PW or GZ. I need to hear more from him.
I was a little disappointed by the DD scene at first but after watching it a few times I really like it though I have been sold on Keifer since before GZ came out so I’m already use to hearing him. It’s true he may not have as much of a connection as hayter did to the characters but I don’t think hayter really knew as much about the story as he liked to think in the first place and surly Keifer would have gone back and at least watched the cutscenes of the last games to prepare for his role. Kaz does sound different from peace walker but I guess he has gotten older and he is a changed man now, ocelot is the only performance I have to get a little more use to Troy baker is doing a good job but I haven’t heard enough to get completely use to it yet.

..what is the need for “Dismissing” the horse via fulton, and bringing in Quiet via fulton. If the horse just appears when you whistle.
You should at least have to fulton it in.
(And I don’t mean at the beginning of the mission).
Well, if you look at the end you see that the mission time was 36 minutes, but the Video is 23 minutes, which means that we have 13 missing minutes intro, and he dot line suggest that the Horse was there in the Jungle before Snake got there.
But yeah, you have all the rights to be concerned, but i suppose that we have to wait for the missing 13 intro to be shown by Konami before jumping to conclusions, but you may also be right.
Maybe it dropped from sky with parachute like Quiet, while Big Boss was looking away ;)…
Anyway many games do it same way, it’s only a minor thing which don’t bother me at all.
Voice acting aside, i love Ms. Stefanie Joosten’s performance. Lots of subtle facial movements that reveal so much about what Quiet may be thinking at the time.
And she humms by the sounds of it, when she reaches her scouting postition.
Is anyone else curious to see what Big Boss’ eye looks like under the patch?

I’m fairly certain they removed the eye after OP Snake Eater. That’s what we do with damaged eyes in the real world.
What could be a Welcome addition is Later on in the Story adding the Rappel Feature, being able to land Snake without always having to Land the Chopper.
Even GTA Online has this Feature, and is not a Military Game, so why MGSV shouldn’t?

Having a Rappel Gun at You and using it to climb bigger mountains more safe, by aiming and shooting high on top, kinda like how it works in Battlefield Hardline.

Once you see it, you can’t un-see it. This better be fixed at launch, at least on the New-Gen versions (PS4, X1 and PC)

Nothing surprinsing here. Vegetation works exactly like in GZ. Actually, I would have been extremely surprised if it had changed.
Which is what i didn’t like in Ground Zeroes, which should be fixed in TPP, for Ground Zeroes is understandable, because it was basically a BETA Version of MGSV Intro, but in TPP it better be fixed, at least for the New-Gen version.
They still have loads of pop-in issues in TPP… With vegetation improved, I think it would be a pop-in nightmare.
It’s not my favorite thing either, but I guess it is what it is…
Or is because this is not the Final Version,but a Beta made for TGS, so sending this to Kojima Prod. will earn them more time and help them polish the Game faster and release it a bit earlier, since they won’t waste time finding the issue, if we mention it.

No they are not, what we saw at TGS is Unfinished, so it makes sense for glitches like this to be present, but they should not be on the Final Version, that’s all i’m saying.

I’ve been thinking about the ending of TPP, just wasting some time with my silly theories ;).
1. What if MGSV is all happening as flashback :D? Then in TPP ending the game jumps forward to the present day, and we see Big Boss standing inside his Outer Heaven fortress. Remembering the times that lead to the moment. During the game’s last minutes he command Solid Snake to start Operation Intrude N313, as they are having a brief codec conversation.
2. Maybe after TPP ending credits, it fade in to one final legendary scene where Big Boss is fighting
with Solid Snake in Outer Heaven or with Zanzibar Land fortress walls breaking around them.
I don’t even care how much we would see of the fight. Just some CQC would be epic between them and with the two Snakes confronting each other in bloody fight. Also just so we could hear Big Boss’ final words to Solid Snake.
Then after years he make the full remake of MG1, 2 or both.
What do you think lol :D? Of course won’t be so epic like Kojima has planned, but I like to imagine once in a while how it end ^-^.
I like the your second idea… I’d like to imagine that after the credits roll there will be a young solid snake swimming across a manmade river type deal and climbing the stairs and looking to the Outer Heaven Gate, then looking back at the camera not saying anything but “Commencing Operation Intrude N313” turning back around and then it cuts…. I can hear David Hayter in my head as I imagine this.
Goddamn that’d be epic ;D, I can imagine this too. I just hope TPP will have a really satisfying ending, that make me shed some manly tears ;). But this is Kojima’s game so there’s a good chance for epic one.

1. Or much better we could see the MGS4 ending trough Big Boss perspective in Fox Engine in the 1 shot Cutscene format, and have the cutscene at The End Transit trough Big Boss eyes in Firs Person, and seeing them close, fading the Screen Black, which will end the Entire Metal Gear Saga.

Maybe it’s just me, but Troy Baker sounded… weird. He didn’t sound like he was channeling Zimmerman’s portrayal like before. I don’t know, I guess after watching the TGS JPN version, I envisioned and expecting to hear some of that “spaghetti western” gravel from Ocelot, like in previous trailers.
Kiefer sounds marvelous and intriguing as usual (except for “Ocelit” bit in that DD trailer. That was underwhelming).
I’m sure we see Troy shine more when playing TPP and there gonna be lots of more voice acting anyway. Lets hope most of them will be done well for each character. It’s maybe the same thing for me, as when I played GZ because back then it took me a little while to get used to Kiefer’s voice as Big Boss, but later I really liked it.
Don’t worry. I was already sold on Baker at E3 2013. I have no doubts he’ll knock it out the park as Ocelot. To be quite honest, I like Baker as Ocelot better than Josh Keaton.
I guess he will talk E3 trailer style mostly. But maybe here sound a bit different in the scene when talking a bit louder, with a dangerous situation like that going around them :P. I dunno ;D. But ye Troy is gonna kick ass with Ocelot’s role.

The voice acting is ok. While some times it sounds really great, others not so good. Take her away is way too high pitched. Also, Miller’s “you are going to regret this” sounds like he’s a robot.
Big Boss gives me the impression that he doesn’t like DD.
Even Hayter has some not so good voicing parts in some of the game, but overall he is superb, same for others. Well Japanese voice actors handle their part always very well, because in Japan they do voice acting a lot with animes and games etc.
Lol Miller a robot ;D, nice. Maybe he got turned into a cyborg after Afghanistan or he die to his injuries :O ?! I’m sure Big Boss like big DD which is a trained killer, but not the cute little puppy ’cause BB is struggling with him and don’t want to let him lick his face lol.

I really like how Big Boss is more mature and ready to “pull the trigger” in Quiet’s trailer. In Peace Walker he was just trying to be nice to everyone and that didn’t end well.
That’s because ever since MGS3 Ending, for 11 years (Ground Zeroes included) he was in depression thinking about The Boss, but now he is Back, and unlike Solid Snake Big Boss ages Mentally as well (he is changing)

Exploit is one of the things Metal Gear is famous for, is most likely a “Cheat” left intentionally to get infinite guns, but yeah, worth reporting, because maybe is indeed a glitch.

Hey guy! Not -really- related to the topic at hand, but want your opinion. Be honest. We angled it counter clockwise so it would flow with my ribs better and will fit easier with my finished tattoo idea. Also, because the side i had to put it on makes it XOF. I just had a thought concerning the well being of the buddies i’d be bringing along on missions, like Quiet, DD, etc. I suppose if i felt they were coming upon too much gunfire or any type of situation that could render my buddies permanently dead I’d just Fulton their asses outta there!
