This week, English voice recordings continued for MGSV: The Phantom Pain, Jay Tavare: ‘Code Talker will be unforgettable!’

It’s the start of a new year, and this week voice recordings for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain continued for several of its English voice actors. First, Robin Atkin-Downes, the voice of Kaz Miller posted on Twitter:

2015…Bring it!

Big week working on #MetalGearSolid and two summer #blockbusters…Wishing everyone a Great 2015!

Then, on January 8th, Code Talker’s actor Jay Tavare shared a picture of himself in the recording booth.

“Code Talker back in action…”

In addition, Jay Tavare posted the following Tweet:

Voice recordings for the Japanese cast are still ongoing as well, as Ocelot’s Japanese voice actor stated on December 25th, a lot of radio conversations still have to be recorded, and Nana Mizuki (Paz’ Japanese voice actor) was also back in the recording booth (apparently the character will return in some form, possibly in a flashback or something similar).

Is this game supposed to be finished some day? OMG.

    • Some day this year. 🙂

    • Big_Boss88

I know what you’re going through…but hang in there :O!

  • solidsnack

is it normal to be doing voice acting/debugging at the same time?? either way jay looks like he’s having fun 🙂

    • Not sure, but it seems different processes are running simultaneously (Voice recording in two languages, debugging, the development of MGO).

      • solidsnack

it’s a lot of hard work making the best game ever!

        • Big_Boss88

It’s mission impossible to accomplish for most, but not for master Kojima!

  • Venom_Sina

In this situation,I don’t think the game is going to be prepared for release in march.Guess we’re going for June.Oh man,I can’t do this anymore!!!(I mean,I can’t wait anymore!!!)

    • Big_Boss88

Don’t say that T_T… June it’s so far away…argh the pain of wait ;O.

I wanna play it so much, but also want them to take the time developing it…DAMMIT ;(!

      • Venom_Sina

yeah.we’re on the same page.I love to play the game in march, but it looks like it’s not gonna happen.Waiting more for this masterpiece is torture!!!At least Kojima-san can give us a trailer or something so we can talk and theorize about. If that happens,we can stand in front of this torture much easier!!!Talking about MGSV is making Us calmer!!!By the way, nice video!!

      • LukesAlike

        DEYAM IT!

  • Shalashaska Has Landed..

Hats off to Robin Atkin-Downes. He’s been putting in that hard work consistently. I even remember when this was posted a year ago: http://www.metalgearinformer.com/?p=10309

Still, I hope Kaz doesn’t blabber on as much in TPP, as he did in Ground Zeroes. Lol.

  • Daburcor

I am almost willing to guarantee that the voice work for The Phantom Pain itself is complete and that these recent VO sessions are actually for Metal Gear Online.

    • ThreeMadFrogs

      I hope you’re right.

    • solidsnack

      that’s a good call i didn’t think about that!

    • Mini gear

I hope against all odds you’re right. I can’t wait till JUNE

      • Big_Boss88

I give up the March release, when that month is finally over ;D… After that I accept release date to be in June… 😉

        • Shalashaska

ummm.. they said they were doing radio conversations and paz’s character Did some VO sessions too.. so As much as i hate to say this.. i dont think it would be for MGO :/

    • TIHamm .

He said it’s for backstory, all mocap(facial) stuff is done

  • Mini gear

My heart can’t take much more waiting… It’s worse then foxdie

      • Big_Boss88

        Kojima: We’re not finished yet…

        • Mr.Pony

Kojima: I’m going to turn up the release date, let see how you rike it

          • im a dot

kojima: there are no release date leaks my friend.

          • Mr.Pony

Even Snake didn’t suffer this much on the microwave hall…

      • Kojima: You are a tough one I give you that, now lets see if you can withstand the sound of damn fiddles being played…

        Start talking bitch….

      • I’ve always asked someone else to do it for me. I can’t handle it lol

  • Sn4ke_911

    ..

    • Awesome, thanks! Can’t wait to find out more about this character in the game.

    • Big_Boss88

      Arigatou!

    • LukesAlike

      We shall see…

  • Rikimaru

When do you guys think the game will be released?

    ….I’m dying of anxiety.

    • Maybe around June of this year, but that’s just a guess.

      • daftguy

I hope the release is in april or may.

      • Rikimaru

I actually was looking back when MGS4 got released in June and I thought of it as a possibility that MGSV gets released around the same month too, thing is…I’m not too sure if they’re still developing or they’re just putting in the finishing touches.

    • Big_Boss88

I dunno really, but I hope we get to know the date in Q1. They want to make it a super huge announce, so maybe it requires a game event like GDC which is in March. I don’t know is there any other ones before that. Maybe PAX is still coming in this month, too lazy to check.

    • solidsnack

with the whole V theme V/V/201V would be really neat, i feel like it’d be a missed opportunity if they didn’t!

      • Shalashaska

Would love it more if it was 3/3/2015

        • solidsnack

haha i second that. hell, gimme 2/2/2015!

          • Shalashaska

This. Why didn’t I think of this.

  • Jason Mounce

    Decoy Octopus is Code Talker!

  • Bigbossmsf1974

If there still doing audio recording sections, i’m taking a while guess that the phantom pain probably won’t release until mid july or mid august this summer. Which i also took in consideration is something you guy’s, my fellow msf/diamond dogs soldiers, probably don’t won’t to hear right now. But we all must consider the fact that when kojima gets done with all the audio recording sections, they probably still got alot of paching to do on the game considering how massive it is, also not including the online maps they have to do also. Which make’s me believe the phantom pain won’t release until mid july or mid august no less, think about it guy’s, this is probably why kojima haven’t given us a release date yet, i’m sure you would even agree Nyxus.

    • No Place For Hayter

I sure hope so, Kojima is the last person I would hope to release a broken buggy product simply because they can patch it later, oh how I dream of the days when developers could not be lazy and inexperienced in programming their games, it seems every developer suffers from this retarded idea that their product can be quite broken buggy and unplayable because they can patch it later. Though I don’t really have to worry because Kojima has always been a man of quality and he would not release the game if anything bugs him about it at all bugs and glitches included, so I really don’t mind waiting an additional 6 months even if those 6 months are purely debugging. So just remember that every day that passes equals more bugs and issues that won’t be there when you play the game.

      • Bigbossmsf1974

i totally agree with you No Place For Hayter, i really think thats what kojima is gunning for this year, to please his fans as much as possible. And hell who knows kojima might add a big bonus in there for us, dlc or story wize for waiting patiently, either way when the time comes for us to lay our hands on the phantom pain, it’s something we won’t regret.

  • Invader_skoodge

I don’t even know why I bother looking at this twitter anymore. He’s just fucking with us. That’s Trolljima for ya. It says Play Check by the way.

    January 10, 2015

    • 9Ocelot9

Well, i dont really know what to think anymore, they’re pretty much in crunch time, he said so in his twitter, wich could lead to a really close release date if they wanted.

Also if they have the gameplay part down and are playtesting, implementing the remaining voiceover is quite simple actually and could be done as soon and they get the audio’s done in the studio, so it doesnt necesarily mean a long wait at all, infact they could wrap the proyect real fast if they wanted.

I simply just dont want to get hyped up and get let down again XDD, DAMN FIDDLES!

      • mikeyyytexas

Lol you beat me to it but at least confirmation on that tweet thanks

      • Invader_skoodge

I think we can agree we had our fair share of hype followed by disappointment, but I can’t stop the Hype Train I got a one way ticket and the next stop is Kojima Station #32.

        • 9Ocelot9

They dont have anything about TPP scheduled to appear in that KS right?

          • Invader_skoodge

They haven’t announced what’s scheduled for the show at all. Well, just that the Movie Corner will be Kojima’s top movies list of 2014. Also we can assume there will be the usual fan letters and fan art section. Everything else is up for hype.

    • mikeyyytexas

Didn’t he post a tweet the other day about receiving a letter from a fan and it brought him to almost shed a tear but the thing that stood out the most to me was “crunch time”… Isn’t that when you’re putting in all the finishing touches on the game before it’s released? Idk

      • Invader_skoodge

Yeah, he did. It wasn’t just a fan per say, but an Australian developer who made a game that Kojima twitted about being his favorite of 2014. And before that he had Otsuka-san(Snake) visit KojiPro to give a word of encouragement to the team to finish the game.”crunch time” is a bit vague. It means, they already estimated and set a realistic deadline to finish the game and are working on finishing it. But the bad thing is that it could take from a few weeks to many months.

        • mikeyyytexas

Thank you for clarifying this for me, I’ve never really been fully immersed with development of a game til mgsv. Normally I’ll get hyped for a game and then life happens (busy with school/work) then before I know it I see it on the store shelves lol but at least this could mean they are ensuring we get something amazing

    • im a dot

it hurts knowing he can play it at anytime

      • Invader_skoodge

He wants us to feel the:

        (•_•)
        ( •_•)>⌐■-■
        (⌐■_■)

        Phantom Pain.

    • Mr.Pony

All aboard the Hype train, next stop Hypetown

    • Shalashaska

Myyy boyyyy.. Don’t use such vulgar language.
Kojima san IS MERELY FIDDLING WITH US !

  • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

So when will we get another Kojima Station?

    • January 22nd.

      • Nintendo Fan 4 Lif3

Thanks Nyxus. They better have a release date to share by then.

  • Charles Patrick Walker

Kojima has an advantage other developers don’t though. He has a name, and basically has a lot more rope to work with than most others.
