MGSV: The Phantom Pain art book in the works for the western market
As you may know the Japanese Special Edition and Premium Package for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will come with an art book, unlike the Collector’s Edition for the western markets. However, it looks like Kojima Productions is planning to release a full size art book in the west as well.
On Twitter, Kenichiro Imaizumi, senior producer at Kojima Productions, responded to a fan asking for the art book in the collector’s edition, saying: “Sorry no plan. It will cost more. However we’re working with art book project with other partner in western market. Stay tune.” This won’t be like the Japanese art book: “Japanese one is small art book. About same size as DVD case. I am talking about real art book for licensing product.”

For previous Metal Gear games large art books were released separately as well, though usually they’re only sold in Japan. But to get an idea of the kind of art book we probably can expect, check out the MGS4 Master Art Works and the MGS Peace Walker Official Art Works.

Neither do I. They told me that normally if a package is to heavy you cannot proceed to payment. This one didn’t give that warning.
I went to the contact page on the site and I sent them a mail by filling in the mail list (don’t use your regular mail. It doesn’t work). I told them to cancel my order.
My state of euphoria was only brief. Now I have to wait for Bol.com, the biggest dutch online store, to get it. The’re service is splendid so I have no worries.

You guys are Metal Gear fans to spend all this money.
I prefer to keep the money in my pocket , and spend on expansions and play the game …
I rarely buy any extra merchandise etc with games, but MGS is special so I will try spend some more :). Keeping money in pockets is a wise thing to do.

Me too! We will see many games in E3, but to be honest only thing that I’m super interested to see there is TPP ;D … Gonna be legendary.

I hope they will release all artbooks as digital releases for most platforms (not just itunes, since I don’t like apple) I got most of the books released so far (minus MGS1/2 but japanese HD collection book has those 2 complete and all the MGS3 plus unreleased pre-production artworks unlke US edition) but I want digital editions to have with me all of the time
Yeah… the Peace Walker artbook reminds me: Did anyone manage to do any translations of that particular artbook? I know some Japanese, but not enough to save my life, certainly not to translate the entire thing.
Good thing we actually ARE getting a Western artbook for once.
EDIT: Just so we’re clear, I mean that someone via their own copy managed to translate it.
Yeah Special Edition is the one i preordered and i’ll post the art here once i got it 🙂
But i want a dedicate artbook like the Peace Walker Artbook or MGS4 Art one.
They’ll probably release by the end of the year and include some boss designs and all.
I would rather have the full scale arm replica :P.

The art book in the legacy collection is not good. The only good pictures are the gz pictures.
And I keep thinking that the gz art should have been this one.
