Kotobukiya Sniper Wolf statue gets new artwork
Toy company Kotobukiya has released a new artwork teasing their Sniper Wolf bishoujo statue by Shunya Yamashita, that was revealed during this year’s Toy Fair in New York.
The statue’s release date seem to have been delayed from late 2015 to the second quarter of next year.

I wonder why they are teasing a figure? Let alone why they are teasing it so far from release, maybe I just don’t know enough or care enough, show me the figure, don’t tease, either it will be good or complete crap, I’m not going to waste my time getting hyped over nothing, especially when it could turn out to look like crap. It is a figure the most important thing about it is how it will look, so teasing but not showing kind of makes no sense to me.
They do that for figures a lot. I agree with you though. I don’t like how they always tease figures wayyyyy in advance. I collect a lot of figures and they often get delayed multiple times too so I don’t recommend pre-ordering unless they are in very short supply.
Yeah, and this is the second time they tease it even. First it was just a silhouette.
Just google “Shunya Yamashita Bishoujo” and you can see both tons of the product art, and final releases. This will look pretty much identical, but made of plastic…
I don’t know how you guys feel, but I don’t like this artwork. I mean it looks too cartoony and crass in the anime sense. That’s why I always loved Shinkawa-san’s drawings, because they just fit perfectly with the tone of the games. Shinkawa’s Sniper Wolf is a deadly sniper who is no stranger to the battlefield. Kotobukiya’s Sniper Wolf is just a model cosplaying for a photo shoot.

THIS. It’s not a bad design per se. But it pales in comparison to Shinkawa’s artwork.

The way Shinkawa draws her makes her look mysterious and a Russian beauty, he draws the lines on her well so she looks hard a tough but still feminine. But the picture above makes her look way to goth and well uhhhh not so great, lol. The only base one should use for MGS figures is Shinkawa’s art.
Exactly, I admit Yamashita’s work is hot but thats not what I would want. Shinkawa’s artstyle is what brought her to life from kojima’s own mind. It should be Shinkawa who designs the statuette.
Sniper Wolf isn’t Russian
Oh, lol, I was mixing Olga and Sniper wolf there in my head when I wrote that, whoops, lol.
eh, this is the Bishoujo line-literally every single one is designed by Shunya Yamashita and shares this art style.
That’s actually the point of Kotobukiya’s BISHOUJO line. It takes various characters from games, Marvel and DC comics and turns them in ‘Bishoujo’, basically anime-styled beautiful women. So this Sniper Wolf is in keeping with that Bishoujo line franchise.
Damn, that’s nice artwork mmm.
But I wonder how the figure will look like.
Well, the entire series of them looks pretty much exactly like the drawings, so I’d say it’ll look right.

Cheesecake is actually the whole point of that figure series. Definitely not for everybody, but the figures are all very well made.
Don’t really care about the artwork. The fact the she’s young and releasing after MGS V in 2016 could possibly indicate she’s in TPP.
Maybe you are looking too deeply into it. Then again you may subscribe to the vs=gf theory so……yeah.
Would be neat to see though.
I like it, but I usually like bishoujo stuff, so I see why some people would dislike it.
