MGSV: The Phantom Pain takes 4 spots in the Tsutaya Charts top 5

Japanese retailer Tsutaya has published their sales charts for the week of 31/8 – 6/9, which of course includes the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. So how did the game do? Well, 4 of the 5 spots in the top 5 are filled by Konami’s latest title.

The first place goes to the special edition for PlayStation 4. The regular version for PS4 is at number 3, followed by the regular version for PS3 at number 4, and the special edition for PS3 at 5.

As for the Xbox version, it isn’t in the overall top 20 chart, but in the specific platform chart for Xbox One, the game sits at number 1 (special edition) and 2 (regular edition).

Here is a summary of Tsutaya’s report on the sales, from NeoGAF:

Tsutaya’s report

– Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain had overwhelming sales and faced some stock problems.
– The PS4 version sold the double of the PS3’s one. The special version sold the most at Tsutaya’s stores, but that’s because the standard version had lack of stock.
– Adding sales of both hardware versions (PS3 and PS4), it surpassed Metal Gear Solid IV debut.
– Hardware was also strong for PS4, it sold 3 times more than the past week.
