Check out documentary Bodyhack, about how one man received a Metal Gear inspired bionic arm

You may remember the Phantom Limb Project, the collaboration between Konami and The Alternative Limb Project to create a Metal Gear inspired bionic arm for James Young, a man who lost an arm and a leg in an accident. BBC made a two part documentary about the project titled Bodyhack – Metal Gear Man, which you can now watch online.

You can find some more information on the arm and the project here.

Wow, what an awkward video to watch. Everybody looked confused and disappointed with the arm. And it seems like it wasn’t working properly. The little flying toy was cool I guess.

    • Full Options

Sadly, many people have a lot of hope for having a well working prosthetic arm, so they have to be extremely careful and not sell too much of this hope if the tech is not ready. They really have to stick to the truth.
The good point is that the tech has really well evolved, considering that each disabled person needs a drastically different design.
Very hard to come up with a generic solution, but sooner or later I am sure they’ll reach really efficient results.

A really random time for self-reflection…

Anyhow, we’ve all been there – you should of played mw2 with me when I was 10, you would of experienced true cringe.

My parents got fed up of the shouting/cringe so one day my dad just went up and snapped the disk in two: I never played mw2 again… He gave me £40 to buy another game that wasn’t CoD so it wasn’t all bad.

It also has lights, like a real arm.

  • Gatsu

E3 coming soon so I wonder what games you all are excited to see :D.

Some from my list is that I hope will be there: Mass Effect:Andromeda, Vampyr, anything from Rockstar (RDR2?), FFXV last trailer, FFVII:Remake, Detroit Become Human, Danganronpa 3, Prey for the Gods, Deus Ex:Mankind Divided, Cyberpunk 2077 but might be too early for it. Hmmm I maybe forgot to mention some others…

Also another off-topic stuff, it’s so ridiculous that some actually do this …

Rockstar never attends E3. I wanna see God Of War 4.

      • ADAMJENSEN13

God of war 4 would be really nice to see.

      • Gatsu

They never attend it D: ? Hmmm okey I didn’t remember that.

    • Venom_Sina

I’m really excited to see (or hear) something about Resident Evil 2 Remake.Deus Ex is my favorite, too.

    • ADAMJENSEN13

Im really looking forward to FFVII Remake and Andromeda. Detorit too. Scalebound and Recore too.

I think I read somewhere there wont be Cyberpunk 2077 this year E3. Too bad. Im really hyped for this game.

    • Cyberpunk is happening at this E3 100%. They said not too long ago. They will show a trailer.

I really want to see Deus EX:MD. Resident Evil 7, anything from Rockstar too (but they don’t attend to E3 much), FFXV/FFVII:Remake, Horizon: Zero Dawn, New The Legend Of Zelda WiiU, Persona 5, Cyberpunk 2077, Kingdom Hearts 3, Shenmue 3, God Of War 4.

Games that I’m not excited about but just interested to see how it will go: Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Detroit BH,

      • Gatsu

Oh hell yeah, can’t wait to see Cyberpunk <3.

      • JJBYACHFullOptions2FucKonami

I think we’ll see a short trailer for Cyberpunk – probably won’t be anything too significant since they’ve pretty much just finished developing the huge Blood and Wine witcher 3 expansion, and they did said Cyberpunk is going to make Witcher 3 look small.

        • Mr.Pony

I actually think they will show some gameplay, we know virtually nothing about that game aside from that trailer a few years ago. I want to be exited for this game (at this point I have faith in CdProjekt almost the same way as I have in Kojima, loved all the witcher games) but I really need to start seeing some gameplay. Sci-fi isn’t really my thing but if it resembles remotely Deus Ex, I think im in for it

          • JJBYACHFullOptions2FucKonami

I think it’s too early in development to see gameplay – it would satisfy fans, but at this stage it may not be the best decision to show pre-alpha gameplay as so much could change in the following months after its initial reveal: content could get cut, graphics need to be optimised which will result in a “downgrade”. I personally think you should only showcase actual gameplay footage within 6-9 months of the games release, as not much could change during this time.

Also the Witcher 3 DLC’s were bigger than most standalone games: Heart of Stone took about 15-20 hours for me to complete, and Blood and Wine is said to have well over 30 hours of content and a completely new map (Toussaint) the size of Velen:

            http://i.imgur.com/bhYRdKk.jpg?1

I just don’t see them having time to progress that far into Cyberpunk while putting this much time and effort into the Witcher 3 expansions.

          • Mr.Pony

Been keeping away from news about Blood and Wine so it becomes a surprise for me. The thing is that they never stopped developing Cyberpunk, they reduced the team working on it. At this point i only want to see like game mechanics and get a feeling of the open world, dont need to see story at alll

          • JJBYACHFullOptions2FucKonami

Oops, I hope I didn’t spoil some of the suprise :/

Anyhow according to this gamespot interview we aren’t going to see it for a while:

{Badowski[studio head] said the game is still “a long ways away” from launch, and further stressed that CD Projekt Red still has “a lot of work to do” to make it a “truly outstanding game.”

            …CD Projekt said today in its earnings briefing that the game is scheduled to arrive sometime in the 2017-2021 window.}

            http://www.gamespot.com/articles/cyberpunk-2077-much-greater-in-magnitude-than-the-/1100-6435525/

They aren’t even sure when it’s going to be released, as that is a very broad window. I guess since The Witcher 3 got delayed twice they are playing it safe and giving themselves ample time in case they need it. I still hope they show something – I think they will, but we’ll have to wait and see how much they show.

          • Mr.Pony

No problem, that piece of info I alredy knew;)

Sure its not coming out this year, next year maybe with luck, i just want to see what it will look like and get a sense of how it plays, make sure that it is not just The Witcher 3 in a sci-fi setting, many games do that now, the way way that Elder Scrolls games and Fallout feel similar, and assassins creed franchise along with Far Cry,

          • JJBYACHFullOptions2FucKonami

Yeah, I hope it feels different as well.

    • Solid Snakes Revenge

Resident evil remake 2 or, ‘re7. I was really excited for ff7re til I saw a video on it and it doesn’t look like a rpg anymore. Looks like a devil may cry/God of war style action. Ff15 demo felt that way also. No thanks I ‘ll play them again when turn base comes back.

      • Gatsu

Oh yeah RE2 Remake I’m excited for =), I think we see some of it. Also I have slight hope for 7 to be good.

        • RE2 Remake would be so cool.
I hope so that RE7 will be good. Capcom I think understand what they need for success this time around. They won’t repeat the same mistakes or they will destroy their biggest franchise.

          • Mr.Pony

Yeah, plus Umbrella Corp doesn’t seem the way to go (I’m predicting another nail in the RE coffin with that one). I just want them to throw everything they have done with RE to the trash. Clean slate, no old characters, no old areas, everything new. Just keep the Bio-Zombies and start from there

        • Solid Snakes Revenge

Yeah I’m holding out hope because I saw an article the other day and it said they wanted to try and do old style with 7. So hopefully they stick to their words. Also I agree with the petition thing. It’s ridiculous and it’s becoming a trend. I saw the same thing with a bad uncharted 4 review.

          • Mr.Pony

I don’t see how they can make a old style RE in 2016. Part of what made those games great were those tank controls, because they were frustrating, they were also stressful in the face of danger. In 2016 they can’t release a game (not a remake) that plays like that.

          • Solid Snakes Revenge

I’m hoping they go back to the still camera angles like the originals. And I believe it’s possible.

          • Mr.Pony

If they make that decision I think they would be alienating part of the audience. While people who played the originals might enjoy it and feel nostalgic, new players wouldn’t really like it. Doing the fixed camera thing would have to make use of the pre-rendered backgrounds (which are they proved they can bring to present time with the remakes and remasters) and again that wouldn’t be a selling point for new generations.

          • Gatsu

Yep, I bet every new game is going to get these review removal-petitions :P…

        • Mr.Pony

Let it be like RE4 with the setting and plot of RE2, that’s all they need to succeed with that one.

    • Tong Ninja

Pretty much all the announced games that don’t have a release date yet and also new games haha. Games like Deus Ex and Final Fantasy XV already have set release dates, so I don’t really want to know much more about those games at E3.

I definitely want to see Persona 5, Kingdom Hearts 3 and The Last Guardian at E3. 😀

Also when playing Uncharted 4 I saw a particular poster that might indicate that Naughty Dog are currently making The Last of Us 2. 😉
If this is true they might announce it at E3 2016 (though this is my personal speculation and I could be completely wrong haha).

    • Mr.Pony

Oh Vampyr, now that’s one I really want to be a good game, waiting for a good vampire game since Vampire:Bloodlines. Still waiting for a sequel to that one too.

      • JJBYACHFullOptions2FucKonami

Vampire: Bloodlines is too good. One of the only games that allows you to play as a powerful character but still manages to scare you – I will never forget that haunted mansion quest. The only other RPG to ever scare/creep me this much was The Witcher 3: Heart of Stone – I have never felt so powerless in a video game fight than in the DLC, if you’ve played it you know which fight I’m talking about.

        • Mr.Pony

What made me really enjoy Bloodlines was the setting, the fact that they had the balls to do a contemporary thing and nail that underground gothic culture, from the goth clubs to the porn store and make the supernatural fell part of that sub culture. So good, that mansion tough, especially the laundromat…so many scares

          • JJBYACHFullOptions2FucKonami

Such a unique game – too bad it was a broken mess on release.

I loved how they went the extra step further and intertwined that sub culture with the game mechanics by introducing the masquerade system.

The porn shop/snuff film quest was so unsettling for me because it mixed the real world horror of the snuff film industry with the creepy supernatural – they did this a few times, it really helped ground the world in reality despite it being purely fantastical in nature.

          • Mr.Pony

Yeah the snuff film part was very disturbing, the creatures were actually creepy. I still go back to that game every year or so. There is one or two mods that really add to that game, new clans and vendors, plus the bank hacking feature.

          • Leguywhodrownedquiet

They did a snuff film quest?
            Fuck!
Movies rarely do show dat shit except a certain schmuacher film which still makes me laugh

          • JJBYACHFullOptions2FucKonami

It’s a really creepy ass game when it wants to be.

      • Gatsu

Yeah, there’s not many vampire games out there. I hope it’ll be awesome :), I trust Dontnod. From the short sneak preview of gameplay I saw weeks ago, I think the movement looked a bit similar to Bloodborne.

    • Leguywhodrownedquiet

Basically the same games as yours 😛

    • Zelda Wii U, Detroid: Become Human gameplay, Final Fantasy 7 remake, Resident Evil 7, some more Horizon Zero Dawn, Recore… and of course some surprises as well!

      • Gatsu

Yes of course surprises are always welcome :D.

    • I want to see more of Ghost Recon: Wildlands

  • JJBYACHFullOptions2FucKonami

So I just watched an anime called based on the late Project Itoh novel of the same name. In case you don’t know who Project Itoh (Satoshi Itō) is he is responsible for a few metal gear related works such as the MGS4 novel and was a huge fan of Kojima and his work – in fact they became really close. When Itoh was hospitalised from cancer in 2001, Kojima was one of the first people to go visit him with the first early footage of MGS2 designed just for him. A lot of his non metal gear work is extremely reminiscent of Kojima especially Harmony which just oozes Kojima from near every element.

    http://www.metalgearsolid.be/images/kojima-project-itoh-harmony.jpg

If you are itching for a Kojima-esque story to quench the hype for this new game I advise checking it out – it looks at the concepts of death, will, language and conciousness in their physical, emotional, philosophical and ideological respects:

    It’s a true masterpiece.

I don’t know if I can post the link to it here (if I can’t Big Boss here can tell me to remove it), but here is the English subbed version anyway:

    https://kissanime.to/Anime/Harmony/Movie?id=125088

To my knowledge this one is a fan translation based on the book so it has some errors (very few suprisingly), but since this is the most beautifully and advancly shot anime filmI’ve ever seen in my life – reading the subs can distract from the euphoric imagery present on the screen at times. But, yeah. I just wanted to share this awesome film.

    • Robin030

      looks pretty epic
def gonna give it a go thx for posting !

Off-Topic:As you know,we have Cannes festival up and running. An Iranian movie won two prizes. The name of the movie is “فروشنده” or “Foroushande”. (translation:Salesman or something like that, lol).People here are really happy about these awards and of course me too. It’s a big achievement in Iranian’s film history. Foroushande won two awards in these categories:”Best Male Actor (Shahab Hosseini)” and “Best screenplay (Asghar Farhadi)”.BTW,Asghar Farhadi is the man behind “A Separation (2011)” which won “Best Foreign Film” in the 2012 Academy Awards. It was also nominated for “Best Original Screenplay” ,but Woody Allen got it for “Midnight in Paris”.A Separation was a blast, won so many awards and holds a 95% in Metacritic.
    Here’s a picture of the award-winning actor,Shahab Hosseini:
