Number of owned nuclear weapons in MGSV – June 30 Update

It’s only been a few days since the last update, but today Konami has released fresh numbers detailing the amount of nuclear weapons owned in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Since June 26th, numbers went down on PS4, PS3 and Xbox One, and up on Xbox 360 and Steam, though not by much.

The current numbers, as of June 30th, are as follows:

PS4: 1886
PS3: 822
Xbox One: 134
Xbox 360: 311
Steam: 8604

Since last update:

    Off topic:

Thought I’d post something that may interest you guys. A very obvious Metal Gear and Kojima fan made a cinematic short film in Fallout 4 depicting his Sole Survivor’s decent into becoming a demon. Also, I find it quite funny that one person in their spare time can make better use of Bethesda’s Creation Engine than a full dev team.

…in their spare time can make better use of Bethesda’s Creation Engine than a full dev team.

Plus triple hats off since he reverse engineered the game to build this clip which is way more painful than using the teams dev tools…

    • Lex Radu

The animation if amazing, the work he has put in to it is just mind blowing, however i can’t say the same thing about the cinematography!

Hopefully they can narrow down on restricted number of users on steam. There should not be that much users using those exploits !?

The XBox One pattern is interesting, war is raging down there ! 😀

    • Mr.Pony

I’m guessing with the steam sale, those number will keep going up for a while.

      • Full Options

Would be cool if more consoles could follow XBox One…
Konami should offer some small DLC’s to the first plat able decommission all nukes. Would be a simple mean to motivate all other plats.

        • Mr.Pony

Offering something to only one platform would be a bit of a clusterfuck, since well PC…and Konami not really enforcing any anti-cheating, but if they would sweeten the deal and have something besides a cutscene, maybe more people would fight for disarmament.

  • Lex Radu

Off-Topic-ish: Is it just me, or Tina Guo’s Cover of the MGS Theme from the 1:54 mark sounds like a Movie Trailer verison of the classic theme?
Listening it i can already envision the Trailer edited with the music beat!

Steam users are never going to get rid of all of their nukes. And since they aren’t, Konami should just give steam users an alternate cutscene from everyone else. All of the nukes go off at the same time and everyone dies. You die, your friends in the game die, but your enemies as well. You lose all of your stuff and you don’t get to play the game anymore because everything is destroyed and covered in nuclear waste. Fin

I don’t mind the idea of having to earn Chapter 3!

  • Sand Diego Comic Con 2017 is coming in July. Kojima last time was there and talked about Kojima Productions logo and we saw this for the first time:

Do you think that we will see something cool this year?
I think we won’t see much at this Comic-Con and if Kojima won’t attend Gamescom, than we won’t see any new huge info about the game until the end of the year.

    • Lex Radu

I think at Comic Con we might get some official news on the Metal Gear Movie, like Casting and get a general idea of the plot!

    • Full Options

Ha, this E3 was soo silent (!?)… Yoji was happy to share awesome stuff at the last edition. Just one of his new 3D print would drive me mad. They seem so busy… However, without HideoTube anymore, I think even Boss himself would think we are in the dark for long now.. We need some meat and fresh one. Fingers crossed…

      • This E3 was silent for every publisher because next year will be a huge war between all of them. Gamescom is still a thing, but if Kojima won’t attend it this year with a trailer, we won’t see any new info until PSX 2017.

You mentioned Yoji Shinkawa. I totally expect Ludens and other things to be presented at this Comic-Con. Finally at it’s final stages of release. I want to buy two Nendoroid Ludens. One white and the other one, maybe green or smth.

Gamescom and also TGS… But being busy like that makes it probably really painful to also work on progresses reports and presentation demos. It kind of takes you out of the real fire to plunge you in another one, making it also hard to get back to full production when done. Since they have to calibrate their goals with Decima, it is perfectly understandable to imagine them silent even a full year, given the tight window left to pull out the game as previously planned …
They had very hard time to finish FoxEngine too, but I believe it was easier at Konami because he had a lot of hands around and also developed some kind of habit to easily report progresses on both Koji-Sta and meetings…

Kojima is for sure able to craft great small games but he is more a big titles Dude that I believe is needing a big bang to proudly tell the world some message like “This is the result of my Studio without my previous publishers. This is KojiPro after the chrysalis. Koji-Pro will always develop big smash hits”.
I think he is keen about the challenge of showing that Koji-Pro did not lost anything but only won great things. A very hard challenge, but I think he loves it.

We’ll indeed probably see something at PSX, but honestly, even if we had nothing there, it would not shock nor disappoint me neither.

Back to Yoji-artworks, I believe the answer is simple. If they board for San Diego / attend this year, then Shinkawa will probably share some sketches again in a little less than 3 week !!
This statue and the draft rocks so much.. Thanks for pasting it again under our eyes ! ;D
Since Shinkawa is not a programmer he’s also probably more free to attend art meetings like that.. He must yet have tons of cool sketches and models, the only thing that technically prevent him from sharing some DS content is always Boss’s infos embargo on the plot.
          Fingers crossed !! ;D

          • If he won’t be at Gamescom, there will be nothing at TGS. TGS is too niche for some reveal these days. That’s why I said if there is no Gamescom, nothing until the end of the year.

          • Full Options

Regarding TGS, if only the game was really advanced, we would probably have nice Koji-Panels at TGS… That’s unfortunately not the case yet, but do you remember the awesome and long gameplay footage of TPP at TGS 2014, with Snake climbing the hill and joining Quiet, along the cool Kojima interview with him constantly playing with the bionic arm audio sample during the interview ? xDxD
            Laughed my .ss off. ;D

          • Also, TGS is where they showed Ground Zeroes gameplay demo for the first time.
It’s a great place to show something that is expected. It does not have that big impact anymore as before.
It’s all about Europe and USA these days.

Also as you mentioned about Kojima interview… Yeah, it was a panel similar to what Comic-Con does every year. He showed concept trailer for Silent Hills there and had a similar panel too.
Last year he had panel at TGS about MG Survive, Death Stranding, Ludens and Kojima Productions in general.
It’s a great place for Kojima to talk about game development or answer all these fan questions from JAP audiences … So, something like that can happen.

P.S. This year Gamescom will be huge. Even chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel will be there (presumably to boost it’s popularity for future elections.), she will open the show in general and Sony had no big announcements at this E3.
So Kojima presenting something for Europe can make us EU fans happy. If he won’t be there, don’t expect much until PSX ;(

          • Full Options

Yeah we’ll keep our microscope to max zoom in 3 weeks at San Diego and on Cologne the month after.. ;D
Given what it cost him to answer on Survive last year, I hope he won’t shift plans regarding a possible apparition at TGS because of that.

  • Lex Radu

Remember when Kojima said that he had a meeting with an actress who he has been in love with for over a decade, who we thought it was Emma Stone?
I think we we’re wrong, and he was actually talking about none other than Sigourney Weaver!
    http://www.tubefilter.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/sigourney-weaver-neil-blomkamp.jpg

    • Gatsu

:O it all makes sense now…

      • Lex Radu

Exactly, especially considering she is in one of Blompkamp’s Episodes from Oats Studios, and Kojima and Blompkamp had a meeting, i guess it is more than safe to assume that Kojima took the advantage of Blompkamp being a huge fan of his, that he made him arange a meeting with Sigourney Weaver for DS!

    • Full Options

A decade felt a bit long for me but could not really guess who she was.
It could definitely be Sigourney, although in turn it feels light too, I am in love with her for more than 3 decades (almost 4 <333)…
For example she could also be someone like Scarlett Johanson, after watching Lost in Translation in 2003.. ;D

      • Lex Radu

Considering Kojima’s age, he is talking about a veteran Actress, like Sigourney!

        • NegaScott128

But he’s been a fan of films since his childhood. He would’ve been a teenager when Alien and Aliens were coming out; surely, if he had a crush on her, it would’ve started then? I mean, I guess 1979 technically is “more than a decade ago,” but it’s still a bit of a stretch.

          • Lex Radu

I don’t think it’s a stretch at all, she fell of Hollywood’s Radar in the last 10 years, so assuming she would agree to be in DS it’s more than possible, she does need work, so she would accept!

    • Tom Brearley-Smith

Oh my days. I can totally see this announcement at Gamescom or TGS! How the hell did YongYea or PythonSelkan not see this??

      • Lex Radu

Cause PythonSelkan take their time with their videos, they put a lot of hours in to making them.

That being said, after “Rakka” PythonSelkan are most liekly already working on a video about the paralelse between DS and Rakka, and maybe even analyse the possibility of Sigoruney being the main Female Hero/Villain in DS!

    • King of Disgust

I’m 36 years younger than Kojima and I’m in love with her since more than a decade :/
      Debunked imo

  • Lex Radu

Slightly Off-Topic: After having been watching “Wonder Woman” for the second time, i have to say that it felt verry “Snake Eater”-ish, the way it was directed.

That being said, if the MGS Movie is a success, and they are gonna make after that 1 about “The Boss..Joy” Patty Jenkins should DEFINITELLY Direct it, no one else, she knows how to make a Heroine, and hell, keep Gadot as The Boss, and get Chris Pine as a young Naked Snake!

    • NegaScott128

Chris Pine is 36. By the time a Boss movie is made, he’ll be well into his 40s. He’s not playing “young” anybody. If we assume they keep the ages of the characters consistent with the games, Naked Snake should be 29 during MGS3. He became the Boss’ apprentice in 1950, when he was only 15.

Frankly, I don’t even want a Boss movie to have Naked Snake in it. I’d be much more interested to see her in WWII and her relationship with the other Cobras. At most, have a teenage Snake show up at the very end, or in a post-credits scene.

      • Lex Radu

So perhaps he should be Ocelot is what you’re saying?

        • NegaScott128

Like MGSV-era Ocelot, maybe. MGS3 Ocelot is supposed to be 19-ish.

I think trying to fantasy cast the whole series right now is kinda pointless, since by the time we get to MGS3, 4, V, etc. it’ll be several years after the first film, whenever that even gets made. Realistically, it probably won’t come out until 2019, so the earliest we’d get to MGS3 is 2022, and that’s if they crank out those movies every year. More likely, it wouldn’t come out until 2024-2025, at which time actors who would be great choices now would be too old by the time the movie comes out. Tom Holland would be 26 in 2022, and by the time they actually did a Boss spin-off, he could be in his 30s.

      • Lex Radu

Yeah, someone in his 20’s or less would be good!

Now that i think about it, Tom Holand (Spiderman) would be interesting!

  • Lex Radu

    https://assets.vg247.com/current/2017/06/death_stranding_tease.png
1 thing i notticed with the “Bridges image, is how it looks like a Star as well, a “Black Star” to be exact, not in the “Black Whole” sense, but a Star that is black!
    http://www.billboard.com/files/media/david-bowie-blackstar-2016-billboard-1000.jpg

That being said, looks like Kojima once again named an organization after a David Bowie album, like he did in MGSV with “Diamond Dogs!

Now what’s intriguing about this, is that this it Bowie last album, shortly before he died, and that this album explores among other themes, themes of Death, and Interdimensional Travel, and the Supernatural as well!

Also, it’s mind blowing how the second Trailer fits with the song “Lazarus” more than “Easy way out” and not fitting as in mood, fitting as in everything that is happening on screen is in the lyrics!

TL;DR: We should listen to “Blackstar” it might give us hints to what DS is!

      • Lex Radu

        Interesting.

If something, this shows that Hideo used the backbone of the supposedly “The Boss MGS Game” and created Death Stranding, and added a few new things to make the story relevant to today!

    • SNKtheStampede

Is that video still available in some part of the world? Due to copyrights Youtube doesn’t allow me to download it from my own channel. The fact is that in the mean time my notebook was stolen from me, with my back up video and half of my life in it 🙁 . If someone manage to download it could he share it here in any way possible? Lex Radu, I had the same thought immediately and can’t wait to know what the hell this game is really about!

There is a big mess with the music just like in suicide squad.

      • Jav

        That one.

        • Lex Radu

          No you didn’t!

    • NegaScott128

It’s way better than Suicide Squad. Not a high bar, I know, but it’s a decent movie. The problems lie more in the script than the direction.

    • MrVux007

TBH honest people probably had different expectations for the movie itself and that’s is why i assume they were disappointed by it.
To me the movie is a solid 7/10 (would be 7.5 if Samuel L. Jackson said “motherfucker” once or twice in the movie) .

      • King of Disgust

Most people on the net thought it would be a worthless B movie like 4/10

    • FMercenary

Maybe they should get Neill Blomkamp for the MGS movie instead…

      • NegaScott128

Blomkamp hasn’t made a good movie in 8 years. Just because he made a couple decent 20-minute shorts doesn’t mean we should discount his terrible track record in feature films.

        • FMercenary

If the MGS movie has a good script and is well casted, under Blomkamp, it would be well made. He has a good way of incorporating sci-fi elements seamlessly into a lifelike world.

          • NegaScott128

Yeah, but that’s kinda all he’s good at. And he also writes every one of his films, and I doubt he’d leave Basu/whoever’s script alone while shooting. So yeah, I still don’t want Blomkamp anywhere near an MGS movie until he starts making good movies consistently.

      • King of Disgust

        No!

Well, the “retail” one is the PS4 one, the uploader said it so!

    • MrVux007

I really like how they changed the color filter for the retail version, aswell as the lighting. But IMO MGS4 had the biggest graphical improvement (out of all Metal Gear games) from teaser in 2005 to retail in 2008.

      • 2005 teaser was made on the old MGS2/MGS3 engine just to show that Kojima is on board.
So it’s not really an improvement because MGS4 was built on it’s own custom engine specifically for the PS3 hardware.

But yeah, MGS4 graphically was absolutely mind blowing back in the day when HD era just started for next gen consoles.

        • MrVux007

My mistake i was referring to 2007 trailer in comparison to 2008 retail. Still quite an improvement.

        • King of Disgust

Dude how can you say you love mgs4 and then forget the tgs 2005 teaser
The e3 2005 shit was not a teaser
          It was a joke
Disappointed in you Master Golg 🙁

      • King of Disgust

The colour filter in the retail version is worse . The colour grading is worse imo . Not an improvement which is a shame considering the upgrade gz had . Who knew Kojima would downgrade his game?

        • MrVux007

You must be the first person in last two years that I have seen state this was an downgrade. But I can’t argue with opinions.

          • King of Disgust

This was definitely a downgrade even in max settings on pc

          • Only the first Afghanistan E3 demo version was downgraded. Everything else looks better. More cinematic with cinematic filters or additional depth of field and lighting.

Afghanistan demo is more crisp in general then the original, has better color saturation and true shadows, although the reasons behind the downgrade is unknown. Probably they could not achieve solid 60 frames per second/1080p with such high detailed ground and rocks on consoles.

          • King of Disgust

The game was crossgen and was developped on ps3 and x360 first
They started using dev kits and high end pcs in 2012 or early 2013 actually

          • Full Options

Mmm… Downgrade is a bit rude term for me, I’d say heavy optimization.. You have a good explanation, even with less details, we can’t be sure about how much the frame-rate was struggling and artistic directions…
What’s sure is that a lot of people are often misled when it comes to latest screen-space shading additions, because they are both intended to deliver more realism than geometry precision, and quite unfortunate tweaks to honor the 16ms budget.
As the fragment pipeline passe(s) affects only the 2d final screen-space, helping to improve stuff like ambient occlusion, depth of field and other blurring effects, people unconsciously feel they were injured compared to previous shots but having “less” details in newer version is always mostly intentional.
But those tuning are always added in the end and we are not initially supposed to consider / watch in-progress work for proper evaluation. That’s some presents / sneak peaks offered by the production, but some sort of technical spoiling in the long run.. 😀

      • Full Options

You are right, in 2007 (saw your correction xD, PS3 was barely out in 2005, even if KojiPro was yet working on the devkits), they hit various caveats with PS3 because it was not obvious to off-load the processing charge of the GPU across the PS3 CPU. From the moment the game studios were enough trained along with Sony’s SDK improvements, the usage of CellBE to assist the GPU was more clear, just like almost providing them with an extra GPU. But it was hard and long for Sony’s fellows develop the good layers on top of IBM’s ones, sometime obliging devs to more rely on IBM’s documentation and workarounds over Sony’s SDK.
In 2008, most problem were starting to be solved for engines to help in sustaining suitable rates with cool enough resolutions by fully using all the processing available on the PS3.

    • Jav

2013 is better for me. Without filters and rainbow lights everywhere looks more realistic, like ground zeroes.
