Kojima: Doing something new is difficult, staff often does not understand
On Twitter, Kojima expressed some of the challenges that can arise for a creator when he tries to do something new, something that only exists inside the creator’s head at that point. Kojima often faced resistance when trying to do something that hadn’t been done before, or that was unusual, and often this resistance came from the inside.
No one has seen “new thing”, for this reason it is new. Creating new thing is difficult. New thing exists only in the head of creator. Thus even staff won’t know what it is. No idea how it will be received by audience. In the end, you gotta believe in yourself.
This is something I don’t wanna believe but negative force could often come from long relationship fellows rather than outsiders. It happens when we start new project. I shall watch for that.

I think it has to do with the “Confidential Project” he was working on not long ago. He also mentioned that MGSV will feature something that no other game and even movies have ever done.

You would think by mgs3 that his team members would just go with his ideas. Thesurvival element in mgs3 is one of my fav things about the game.

Hopefully there will be like a 5 or 4 hours portion where you will be abandoned on an Island and you will have no access to you your Mother Base, and you will have to Survive by eating!
I agree they already have wild animals. They just need to let us slay them and eat them.
MGSV seems to me like MGS+MGS2+MGS3+MGS4+MGSPW, they have to bring that for a section, just for Nostalgia Alone is worth it!

I was pleasantly surprised when i discover that you didnt have to eat only animals, there also plant food like mushrooms.
Its really helps to play as a Snake you would be, choice helps you immerse more in the game.
It’s obvious Konami JPN is forcing him to make games since that’s all Konami has left nowadays along with Pachinko games and Yu-Gi-Oh Cards/Games.
Unless he can convince Konami he has a project that’s worth investing, he’ll be stuck for MGS in a long time.
Shame really, but ehh i kinda gotten over with. I do fear what his next game is after he remakes the MSX MG games.
Kojima has adopted the approach of making the game he wants through MGS, which is why we get such a diverse and unique amazing experience with each game, Kojima might be pressured into making MGS, but he can ultimately, make what he wants (not with Konami though lol, they would say “Want money? make MGS”) but by making what he wants into a MGS game he can get enough money for anything, take as much time as he needs, and do whatever he wants with the game to make it into what he wants.

Sometimes the friends and people who know you best don’t understand you when new friends and people can easily understand your intentions with a fresh view of you.
Team does not feel there is value in these special details/options added into these games and game changing aspects. (Additions may feel tedious rather than special)
People who are outside of the box understand the inside of the box better. You my friend, should come inside the box.

This photo really shows that he has aged. All the others make him a lot younger. Well, maybe it’s the clothes.
I thought the same thing, I was like “Whoa bad ass older Kojima” his neck and skin and his facial expression really shows his age. But damn he ages well, living his dream I guess. I can imagine him 30 years from now, he looks very serious lol.
I can’t even imagine what the gaming industry will become once he’s retired. I believe one more game will be his last project, and then he’s finished. Unless he continues till he reaches 80, lol!! 🙂
And this is why I don’t trust Kojima’s team by themselves at all, when directed they make amazing stuff but by themselves they frankly wouldn’t create an amazing game, I mean when they don’t even consider the new stuff but instead just say it’s bad or not to do, it it is a very bad sign, they need to be way more open minded. They have made how many games under Kojima and they still don’t get it? Having many minds and ideas is always great and you can’t isolate your story and game to only your ideas and plans, other minds and people will always help to expand it, but here it seems Kojima has to keep complete control because his team is not open minded enough to contribute new fun stuff. Lol this turned into a rant about his team, they are an amazing team but they need to be more creative.
Also this is why I will be 90% less interested in MGS when Kojima leaves.
I am still going to be very interested in the series when he leaves I enjoyed PO and rising so I know I can enjoy metal gear without kojima the games themselves probably won’t mean as much but I will still be as hyped as ever when the next game is announced. I think his team do bring him down to earth a lot though remember how he wanted to get rid of the question mark. It seems like he does get in a lot of arguments with some members of his team judging from the mgs4 documentary I think it’s good to see his team aren’t afraid to stand up to him if they disagree whether it will make the game better or worse who knows
I think it was his team actually, who made Kojima change the ending of MGS4 because Kojima wanted Solid Snake and Liquid Ocelot to turn themselves in and take the blame for everything that happened as a last sacrifice and the song “Here’s To You” would have meant much more than it did with the ending we got. Why do people still doubt Kojima, don’t they know his craziest ideas are the ones that are most memorable about his games. Oh well, I hope he gets to realize his vision, but with comments like these, it seems unlikely they are going to let him go “Full Kojima”. : [

After hearing Kiefer Sutherland and playing Peace Walker again, l can’t say l miss David Hayter. I love David, he will always be Solid Snake but, in Peace Walker he overused the Old Snake voice. Besides, Big Boss should’ve never be voiced by Hayter.

A little off-topic, but as being a huge action/martial arts movies fan I watched yesterday Steven Seagal’s “Hard To Kill”. Was a great movie and lol the dude rocks I know :P. Anyway, I have to say it reminded me from The Phantom Pain, ’cause the guy ends up in 7 year coma and after waking up, is immediately being hunted down by bad guys while escaping from hospital. I wonder if Kojima-san has seen it 😀 and maybe took some ideas of it ;).
Also anyone know is it really possible to actually wake up from such a long coma like 7 or 9 years? I know they’re movies and games, but just wondering. I know Uma Thurman wakes up from 2 year coma in Kill Bill, if I remember right, that might be possible at least for real.
