Kojima: I’m not at the point in my career yet to be proud of anything
“Honestly, there’s nothing I’m proud of yet.” Kojima said in a recent interview, speaking through his translator Ken Mendoza, when asked about his proudest achievement. “I’m not at that point of my career where honestly I can look back and say ‘I’m proud of this or that’.”
Kojima did add that coming to Gamescom and seeing all the cosplayers and the fans from all over the world who are enjoying his work, that’s something that he does feel proud of.
During the rest of the interview held during Gamescom 2014, in which Kojima answered fan questions, he talked about his favorite robots (saying he actually likes cyborgs, who are caught between being machine and human being), his favorite revenge movie (Park Chan Wook’s Old Boy), about how the times creators live in influence their work (which of course, also applies to himself and his creations) and about the implementation of CQC in the series. He explained that given MGS3’s setting, the game needed a close combat system. He and his team spent a week training in the mountains, a practice they would repeat for every new Metal Gear game.
