Kojima takes a break from game checking as voice recordings continue
During the end of this week Kojima has been busy doing more voice recordings. The studio was doing checks for The Phantom Pain last week, but the past three days Kojima had no time because he had to devote himself to the recordings.
January 14th:
“I couldn’t barely touch for play check since I had long meeting and sound check yesterday.”
On the picture are Japanese voice actors Akio Otsuka, Tomokazu Sugita and Satoshi Mikami playing the roles of Big Boss, Kaz Miller, and Ocelot respectively.
January 15th:
“VO shooting all day, no time for game check today….”
January 16th:
“VO shooting.”
Looking a the script it seems that they are recording the voice for the iDroid (voiced by Donna Burke). Kojima will be in Taiwan at the end of this month to attend the Taipei Game Show. More information about The Phantom Pain is supposed to be shared during the game show’s stage event On January 31st.

hahaha You know when i was younger and playing this on my ps2.. i remember this fight with the end .. it was pretty had for me back then so i used that time forward technique but rather than killing him, he used to pick me up and throw me in jail.. i guess i was doing something wrong…
In the end .. i finished him with a shot to his eye.. that was the most epic moment for me in mgs.. my bullet straight thru his scope and in his head!
I haven’t legit for The Ends in years I always shoot him in his wheel chair after the cut scene where Ocelot Russian roulette’s Sokolov haha
When replaying it on Vita, I took a little break during the fight and continued later. Just to find out he died of old age -___-, totally forgot that happens. Didn’t get achievement for defeating him :(…

I have played out a million times before. It’s just been a while since haha
WHAT? I’ve never seen him throw Snake in jail and never seen the through the scope shot! How the hell do you do those two? MGS seems to have unending easter eggs.
1. There is a cut scene.. the end finds snake sleeping and then picks him up and throws him in the jail.. its that place just before the fight with the fear ? There’s is that compound with scientist inside ? That place has a underground jail
2. Oh sorry bud.. there’s no cutscene for thru the scope shot but it was an amazing kill.. perhaps it was a glitch or something but that was my second shot and he died.. the shot drained almost all of his health that was left after the 1 st shot i hit him with in another location.. it was amazing because i was crawling near the waterfall, behind a rock and he was sitting there on the other side of the water fall behind another rock.. I took aim and shot RIGHT into his scope..plus i found him with the glare his scope gives out and it was PERFECTLY alligned so all in all….an epic ending for me after i searched for him for so long

I love the end and the Sorrow (Not including Boss..everyone loves the Boss..) Man I just realized i have such amazing memories of the first time i played this game.. took me a whole week to figure out how to kill The end.. And Even long to get the sorrow!
I just cleared today The Sorrow after a while and the whole river scene still looks and sounds so awesome. Such a nightmarish setting ;). That revive pill though…lol, I kept remembering I was able to use it anytime but had to “die” first.
Dunno how I forgot that xD. I love the Fury too and well they are all awesome, but anyway his battle reminds me of MGS1 Vulcan Raven which is cool :D.
The first time i played i had gotten so pissed off not knowing what to do so i kept calling codec and after like what felt like a million calls’ Major zeroes says “snake take the revive pill..wake up, snake ” ..ahh the relief was amazing.
I love the way he ends.. its sad.. the guys’ clearly a lunatic who has lost his mind because of some really deep wounds..

No, I realize, but with the hype Kojima said about how games can be made quicker with the Fox Engine, and as long as this game has been in development, the wait is starting to feel worse. Especially with no release date. I feel if there was at least a time frame that he would give us, it wouldn’t feel so bad.

So…if they are working seven days a week that means that they already must have decided a release date and they intend not to change it. The fact that they are working so hard at this points it either means that they are behind schedule or on their final stretch…

Well, teams like that always have a schedule, so that’s not new.
It’s not about the schedule itself its about the commitment to follow it. If it was another team developing like let’s say Ubisoft they would launch the game anyway (Assassin’s Creed I’m looking at you), they would opt to launch the product instead of postponing it and as collateral damage the quality suffers. With Kojima we know that losing quality is not an issue, he’s a perfectionist in that way, which gives him only one of two choices 1) He works hard seven days a week to have the quality he wants and follows the schedule or 2) he postpones the game so he can have the quality it deserves.

I think that the release date will be like 2-3 months after the release date is announced itself, having that in mind even if he gives us the release date on the 31 it would be more likely to be in April or May. having that said, June is the date that unfortunately makes more sense to me

Can’t really base a release date off of that. I mean IMO I would rather have them take thier time. If it’s the end of 2016 or beginning of 2015 who cares as long as the wait produces a game that changes the way we look at video games. I have played all of the games and starting with MGS1 they do this every game.

I don’t know where I should put this but if you play mg1 an mg2 and mgs3 + end of mgs4 and the vita peace walker. I have come to the conclusion that big boss started to not believe in his cause any more. Tis why he showed up at ending of 4. I have a feeling that what we know of boss and big boss isn’t true. That TPP is the beginning/reboot of a new mgs timeline. Hideo Kojima has said todo what he wants he would have to make the games twice. So I have a feeling that he was upset about how mgs1 and mgs2 went. So starting with TPP all will be retconned some how. The birth of a new generation of metal gear is upon us
ok here is the thing, it is a different take to the Mgs series but its not a whole changing timeline.. yes we do know that Big boss regrets what he does.. the ending of mgs 4 clears that out but TPP is the beginning of that decline that big boss regrets having. he regrets not listening to boss and choosing to fight for survival rather than for his ountry like she did. Peacewalker goes through his emotions of loosing boss and by the end.. he wants to fight rather than put he gun down like the boss did. that fight between him and zero is what starts in phantom pain.. the creation of outer heaven..the patriots etc etc.. we know the way TPP will eventually end.. with Big boss Creating outer heaven and becoming that villian we see him in the previous games. and granted im sure some plot points will be crazy different, no doubt..
As for the release date.. please no.. we cant wait that long.. i know i cant.. 2 years was more than enough..

That’s the thing though we DONT know. It very well could be the reboot and that’s truth we don’t know. I am a fan of the series and the kool thing about KOJIMA is he does not care what people think. Does what he envisions as wholesome to his story. So if something needs retconned he can do it an will and has in previous games when the need has arisen. I’ve played everything MG and MGS related. I have a feeling and what I meant about restarting the series is this. We will see the turn to the dark side of BB and the next game will be metal gear 1 and metal gear 2 because let’sbe truthful here if you were gonna restart the series you would want to start about where TPP is gonna be starting at and retcon everything for the new and or changes to BB TIMELINE HISTORY. After that you would redo mg1 and mg2 because compared to MGS SERIES TECH. The beginning is very linear and vague.
I just think before they redo MGS, he would REDO the BEGINNING.
Hehe then again I could be wrong and there could be another snake or they str8 up cloned BIG BOSS AS A MAN.
Oh and I don’t care about the wait because with previous games I have played that looked good were so loaded with game breaking bugs or golem mechanics and or undone content they try and sell to you? I’d rather spend 64$ on a complete finished good game. Yet I’ve also waited years in between every mg and MGS title to date. I could just be used to waiting like a patient fan 😉

As a whole it could make MGS one of the best stories and coherent stories in today’s time but as of right now the story is not so coherent . Except to the most dedicated that no every retcon and change to series. That’s why I think the restart is before our very eyes and he is fixing what needs fixed in his master piece

I’m tired of listening Kazuhira talking every time I’m playing a mission in ground zeroes. That happen because they deleted the codec. If they give us back the codec we can hear the talks when we want and skip them when we don’t.
Hopefully they change that. I have heard his dialogue a couple hundred times I’m sure haha. If you finish the mission there should be an option to turn it off.

It is maybe different in TPP because GZ was like a tutorial of the new gameplay approach. Also TPP is huge and might not hear Kaz or Ocelot all the time.

I loved the codec in MGS3. when they changed it in PW i found myself almost ignoring this new codec. mainly because if you wanted to talk to someone specifically you had to call multiple times until your special someone said his line but it was not the one you needed…

Me too. I’ll probably play single player through twice before I touch online properly anyway. I feel like the majority of MGS players will do the same. The story is what most of us want to see while messing with AI for hours on end. I still pester the AI in Ground Zeroes once a day.

It kinda hurts me more to see kojima sensei go threw all this mess in order to get the phantom pain perpetrated in time for these gaming events and the release date for his loyal diamond dogs fans, then waiting for the game itself. In all do respect i take my hat off to kojima, to his wonderful team, and to konami for the last past 19 years of my life for the hell of an experience. I started off in this journey as a 9 year old boy with solid snake, and let me tell you guy’s that l’ve never experience a story like this in all my 27 years as an gamer. The hardships, the struggles, the losses, the laughers and the joy this game brought to this little boy who knew little to nothing about life back then. Solid snake has taught me so much about how to live life by your own choices then on other people opinions, our fates are not decided, we make our own fates and that’s what snake taught me. From seeing solid snake losing his best friend and mentor gray fox, from seeing snake trying to save meryl and watching him being torture in seeing her suffer, from seeing otacon story and hardship battling his personal own demons, and seeing otacon losing the only person he loved and admired in the world, who was no other than sniperwolf brought me to tears in all. I thank you so much again kojima sensei and konami for all the years and giving us these wonderful masterpieces, and i know without doubt the phantom pain will bring all of us diamond dogs fans the same experience as the other metal gear solid games did, thank you sensei and V to big boss.

this is Kojima. he shows us a picture from VO session so everybody thinks that they are still early in development, but then he shows us a picture from play testing so we think that they ended VO and moved on to testing, but then he shows us yet another foto from VO so nobody knows how far they are in development.

I just saw this on N4G, pretty cryptic response from David compared to before. But as I have thought all this time is that imo David will be in TPP. In the very end. They are playing with us :).
TPP will release in few months I hope, but exec only said wont drag on to 2016 because can’t reveal more detailed and some fans are worried of delay.
Im worried too.. its been a long time waiting.. when itll finally be released it will take me some time to fully realise it! :p
It will be a huge shock to me too when I read it and I hope I can contain all the excitement inside without going crazy :D.

Lets be honest.. its their first try at a open world game with the fox engine and the world is absoutely massive.. so im guessing we shouldnt be surprised for a late release.. seriously though, its beginning to piss off people because atleast he should give a range or something.. perhaps he doesnt want to be the type of dev who gives a release date and then delays it for re-checking/bug checking and calibrating the game…well either way.. im gonna be disappointed/pised if we dont get this in march…. i respect his ideas and all.. but dayum tis wait is just too much :/
u are dayum right sir. we’ve waited too long and the games looked fully well made since tgs. I understand kojima wanting it to be made perfectly but releasing it too far is too much for us. im dying for march, if it isn’t ill probley fall into a 9 year coma from waiting being prolonged too far.
Kojima is seeking perfection with his games so there is that difference between him and many other developers. But all we can do is wait…the endless waiting. xD
But for me the waiting is getting a little easier next week. REmake releases finally, then next month Order:1886, then Bloodborne on March + some other games… So if TPP releases much later than we think…then these games will keep me busy, at least I hope so ;). But sometimes hard to focus on new games because I want TPP, hope it don’t happen again.

I hope you enjoy ME series Shalashaska, to me ME2 still stands as one of the best games ever. Especially the characters and ending are so epic :). Hmmm…good game series uhhh. Something to pass time with, well those that come to my mind at the moment are:
Fallout 3, Fallout:New Vegas, Res Evil 4 + 5, Silent Hill HD collection 2 + 3, Gears of War 1-3, Dark Souls 1 + 2, Batman games, Bioshock trilogy, Red Dead Redemption, GTAV and Mass Effect trilogy.
Well those are the games that I have loved to play and I think they’re available for X360 too. Not sure have you tried all of them.
Then there are the Halo games, but I never really got into them. Tried 3 but it wasn’t for me :). For upcoming X360 games, that I don’t know, except DBZ and TPP.
Buying a Xbx 360 was the biggest mistake of my life.. i should’ve gone for the Ps3 .. I thought it (mgs4) would eventually realease for x360 too one day.. But WORST mistake was that the year and a half after I bought x360.. ps4 was announced *bangs my head on the wall* :'(
ok so i have to get fallout new vegas .. Silent hill collection, gears of war 3, Bioshock infinite.. I’ve played the rest.. I was REALLY hoping for Dying light but the buggers cancelled it because they were lazy to work on last gen.. still hoping they come to their sense and release a port but im guessing that aint happening..ever.. 😛
I loved halo 3 .. its true though.. it does take a while to get connected to it.. and because of a twisted story.. i wont be getting the 3rd part.. they just wanted to cash in on mater chief so released a part 4 :/

I really really hope we get a MGS VI sometime not too far from now. In a sense how MGS 2 and 3 were released. I mean… Kojima just developed the Fox Engine… (they’re using it for Silent Hills too, right?) He must have more plans for it.
umm ..lets get this one first ? Plus if plan to make a 6th part or a remake.. its eaily gonna take more than 3-4years.. first he’ll focus on Silent hills and then switch his attention to mgs
so all in all.. gotta wait 5 years for that to be made after silent hills is made :/
On a more serious note though.. we must support anyone who has such strong passion for the franchise.. its a great place for theories analysis etc.. so why not!? Back in 98 i thought i was the only one that loved mgs so much.. i was trying to pass my passion for mgs to others..but mgs needs dedication.. not for everyone.. thats the truth. I’ve been avoiding TPP news since that chicken hat reveal (which I was crazily excited about) and now after a long 20 or so days I find out that voice recording is STILL going on? I wish they’d just say “it’ll be done before June/July/December/Whatever month they think is the latest it can possibly be done.” That way I can just stop anticipating it and forget about it until then.
How could they say early 2015 and then still be recording voices? Plus a few days ago they said that “we’re up to what, in movies, would be the editing phase”, which means (I’ve made a few games) it’s near completion. It usually means that everyone has gone home except the director and the editor. (I know, games need way more people, programmers etc during this phase) I wonder if they’re re-recording old takes? That’s the only thing that would make sense. I’d have thought that only play testing was going on now.
Yet again I sound like an entitled maniac because of excitement for this game. I’m just annoyed because I only enjoyed Ground Zeroes and Mario Kart in 2014. That’s not many new games and then GTA 5 and The Last Of Us in 2013. That’s 4 games since 2011 when Skyrim released. The rest of 2014’s releases were genuinely awful, or just bland and mediocre. Phantom Pain, if it’s an expanded, bigger version of Ground Zeroes with a Kojima-esque story full of surprises will be my game of the decade. MGS3 was my favorite game for PS2 and MGS4 my favorite PS3 game and up until now Ground Zeroes is my favorite PS4 and PC game. Gaming is a mess of unoriginal and uncreative attempts at grabbing money, indie games have become a smaller version of the AAA industry, (only a few standout companies try new ideas there now, the rest are trying to cash in on pixel art trash) only Kojima and Naughty Dog seem to care about long term loyalty by expressing artistic ideas, by giving the player an emotion other than frustration at being conned by payed reviews. There are parts of every single MGS game that have stuck with me since I played them and they’ll stay with me for years, they have a lasting emotional impact that exceeds most movies and a lot of novels. I can’t even remember the guy’s name from The Evil Within, I can’t remember anyone’s name from Far Cry 4, I can kind of remember some parts of Alien Isolation but only because it’s so repetitive and they’re from a few months ago. Anyway I’m rambling like a maniac again, you get my point, I love Metal Gear and every time I see a new news story I get butterflies in my stomach in case it’s a release date.
In short, I can’t wait. Please give a release date on Jan 31st. I won’t be expecting one though, the event doesn’t seem big enough. I don’t want to see any more footage of the game either, I feel like too much has been given away. Oh and please have the option to fight Quiet in a The End style boss fight if you piss her off. Please Kojima. PLEASE!!!

The wait genuinely makes me want to cry. I’ve literally stamped my feet over this game. I hurt my foot on Christmas day because of Kojima.

It was announced as earlier 2015 but i guess that earlier is more like middle 2015 🙁

Thats what i think. Venom is not big boss. Hes a body double.. the game will end with us playing as venom trying to find and kill an intruder.. that happens to be solid snake.. and finally lose. Then the real big boss wakes from his coma and learns all the horible things venom did and decides to accept the villain role for whatever the reason.. what do u think?

Solid Snake would be about 12 years old if the whole game is set in 1984, I hope that Kojima would make room for another game with Big Boss, see how the battle between he and Zero continues
If the game stops at 1975 and continues in 1984 maybe the same thing could happen again. Who knows? One thing that bugs me though its the lack of female characters. Besides quiet that is.. no strangelove? No amanda? No eva? And what about bosses? Im really hoping for more ..those who dont exist.? Sure..but .idk maybe im over reacting but its something I was really thinking about a lot recently
I’m getting the feeling that if we happen to see Liquid and Snake it will be as children still, maybe Solidus in a mature age, but nothing further then that. We still need to see Sniper Wolf and Naomi meeting Big Boss, at least i hope so. That’s why I think it makes more sense to see another game with Big Boss, where we could see Big Boss meeting these characters and see for example Liquid and Snake growing up and training.
I kinda agree and 1 more game would be awesome, but after 10 years or something ;D… SH come first.
I also hope to see older Solid in the end of TPP. Few months ago I had these ideas that the game skips some years ahead in time at the end, to make this possible. Then enter David Hayter for small part or post-credits scene.
For and ending cut scene, Big Boss handing a cardboard box and be like “Your training is complete. You’re a real soldier now son…”
The game might continue to longer years, after 1984. Like at some point we see “1 year later” kind of thing. Depends on how well Kojima plan to connect TPP to MG1 I guess. It maybe will be only in 1984, but I wonder how TPP story ends, when Kojima has said something like “players will make/realize the connection to MG1.”
I’m hopping to fight Zero and in the end Big Boss only manages to gravely injure Zero and he escapes and so the battle continues.
That would rock yeah.
A man can only dream of what kinda awesome and emotional last boss battle will TPP have…
Thinking back about past MGS, they all had such epic last bosses ^_^.
im hoping tpp has a ton of main missions, story, and scenes. the scenes in this game are amazing, one of the best looking ive seen
that would be legendary i mean if they follow big boss story we have solid ,liquid,ocelot,gray fox,big boss,miller,eva in the same game and you can play young solid or liquid if you look at the mgs database you can see “gulf war” part both liquid and snake fight in that war (of course different units ) imo that storyline is perfect for new mgs game
It is good to have creative mind :D, but my brains are gonna overheat soon with all 10000 theorys I have read lol xD ! I enjoy reading them, but I do hope Big Boss is the only playable character. 🙂

I love putting her music in Ground Zeroes. Her vocals plus Yoko Kanno’s composition is just goddess! Fits the game really nicely during intense missions. This is my favorite music and i always use it when carrying chico to the helicopter

When Ps4 got that USB-mp3 support, I just added some random music from PC… and different game OST, like MGS songs + Nuclear. Need to get more anime songs and might as well get her music.

There’s no official name, but they announced a big project called Deus Ex Universe which have multiple games in a connected storyline(connected to Human Revolution)
There’s also rumored about the next titled called “Human Divided” that possibly takes place in Japan

Well that sucks, granted I only know of her through stand alone complex but she was really good, she was one of the vocalists that you take note of, though it would be hard for Yoko Kanno to choose a bad vocalist lol. It sucks to think that more people die than we realize, I hope she enjoyed herself it always sucks to not live a long good life, now time to go listen to some of her songs, good thing about my music that I like is that it is not going anywhere and so I won’t forget, I hope knowing that she had great songs that people loved (including myself) is enough so she can rest in peace.
If one more person I know of dies in the next few days I’m going to call conspiracy >:|
