Konami previews Metal Gear Online DLC Cloaked in Silence

In a video originally live streamed via Twitch, Robert Peeler of Konami gives an extensive preview of the upcoming DLC for Metal Gear Online, Cloaked in Silence.

Watch live video from Konami on www.twitch.tv

The Cloaked in Silence DLC will release on March 15th, and it will include 3 maps and playable Quiet, for $/€3.99. The Appeal Packs will also be available for purchase separately.

The official Metal Gear Online Twitter posted some additional answers to questions asked during the stream: “We wanted to clarify a few asked questions from the stream where we were able to get a confirmation from the team. In regards to Survival, if a host from a match disconnects, the match will kick both teams of players back to the lobby and not restart. In regards to the upcoming Rank system, earned rank stats will update with each mission completion, as well as the Rank itself.”

At least Konami was nicely reminded that there is a wide potential target audience for this project. Although I hardly see them initiate any of such dev within the next 5 years but who knows.

off-topic: anyone have an idea how to remove demon snake? i hate to be covered in blood all the time ,i already beat mission 23 or 24 (the one you have to beat liquid and fulton all his soldiers ) like 20-30 times and im still demon snake :/

    • Check the dispatch online missions, see if you have a mission at the bottom at the list that only pays 10GP in which you rescue refugees. Do that mission, and when it is done, go back to motherbase and your demon points will be reset and you will have the small horn again.

  • Some concept art of an alternate opening title is out – shout out to Metal Gear Subreddit.

I prefer the one in the game though, it fits better thematically. The beginning foreshadowed somewhat existential and postmodern subtext, hinting it’s going to be a trippy ride where all is not what it seems. This one seems to hint more of a dark, gritty naturalistic thriller (like MGS3) about degradation and violence: a story about men becoming demons. I appreciate Kojima’s intention – seriously, I get it, we are Big Boss; we experienced his revenge and lived through it mechanically through the game systems. MGS3 perfectly set up his decent into villainy and really didn’t needed to be expanded on, but since it was and MGS2 already had the postmodern stuff that was done so well it didn’t need to be elaborate on, you might as well go all out; I really wanted to see BB go over the edge in this one, Breaking Bad season 5 style. Aw, now my phantom pain has returned – the potential story we’ve lost, it won’t stop hurting.

    • Looks sick! But is this official? What’s the source?

      • Good question – I think I’m pretty sure it is fan made. I think if it was official it would of popped up way before now, and not on some anonymous reddit post.

    • I am surprised that no one talked about the gun fire and explosions that you can hear in Episode 46 “Truth” when VSnake walks into the room. There is some stuff going on in Mother Base [remember how his face is covered in blood the second time], what are your thoughts on this guys?

That’s actually a good point.Someone said it’s Solid Snake fighting with soldiers of Outer Heaven. But when we consider DD’s logo, this theory becomes false. But it could be soldiers practicing.
And about V’s bloody face,we can say he came back from a difficult, bloody mission and he didn’t visit bathroom, yet.
Fortunately (or unfortunately),we can make tons of reasonable garbage out of it,lol.

        • Hmmm…maybe it’s Konami paying Mother Base a ‘visit’

          • That face is terrifying. The eyes… Jesus Christ – the eyes… *shivers*

      • I always just assumed it was just an allegory for the perpetual cycle of violence Diamond Dogs are locked into: they literally live to fight and kill, which is why Venom is covered in blood and a battle is heard outside. To be honest, you could argue anything out of it – there is a very fine line between showing too much and showing too little, and MGSV is so vague; and not so much the good kind.

        • Your interpretations seems spot on. The scene starts with the text “Just another day in a war without end” for a reason. The sounds of war further illustrate this.

Its just Schneider and the resistance
You can clearly see a outer heaven logo

I would also add that its dictated by life experience as well…
But to me there is no good or evil in war, only the acts that are deemed necessary or not necessary at the moment…that is why i never looked at Ocelot or Big Boss as villains…

Training rooms and text chat like in mgo2 are needed in mgo3 and the ability to block items and weapons. I like mgo3 for the most part. It’s a good game. I just wanted all of the same options we had in mgo2 to carry over into mgo3. I’ll be buying the dlc and always continue to support go because I want to see it improve and stay around for awhile. I would suggest making training rooms, text chat and maybe combining all of the classes into one super class as another option in addition to the three classes

    • Yeah I’m hella looking forward to this, it’s like a cool mix of Dark Souls, Ninja Gaiden and Onimusha.

I’m totally on it man! I don’t love Ninja Gaiden and (shame on me) I have not played Onimusha, but I do love souls since the very beginning and I like how they implemented that gameplay. Plus it doesen’t look like a mere clone of other games but an original mix of known elements. Looking forward to it!
