Looks like MGSV Ground Zeroes includes a written story recap (More Boot Camp photos)
A few days ago the Japanese gaming press was invited to try out Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes during an event called the Boot Camp. Here are some more photos of the game in action.
On the next photo you can see the game comes with a written recap of the previous events in the saga. It seems you can read them while the game is loading.
And here are some more shots of the merchandise on display, including the Premium Packages of the game.

I’m glad they have a story summary in the game. I have 2 co-workers (who aren’t gamers) that want to play Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain but have no clue what’s going on in the story. And are to lazy to play the HD collection or even lazier watch the cut scenes to follow the story.
After they are done with ground zeroes they will wanna play the had collection unless they are bit shit insane. I was hoping for a montage kind of thing for a recap maybe with narration from kaz. I wonder if there will a montage at the start of phantom pain about what’s been happening to kaz and diamond dogs over the last few years I think that would be pretty amazing unless they wanna keep that a mystery
i think they just wanna play cuz of the hype surrounding MGSV. honestly they should start from the beginning of the whole saga. they’d enjoy it more and get a better sense of WHY things happened the way they did, instead of just starting from the newest game. i mean, at least watch the LET’S PLAY clips on youtube.
I literally tried everything I could. They are co-workers, not friends so I’m only willing to push it so much haha screw them man haha
hahaha, this cracked me up. well ya, i mean you can only lead a horse to water. can’t make em drink it. they’ll probably just run around shooting shit.
Skullface
Commander of XOF?
I thought this was pretty obvious, no?
Don’t remember seeing this in the ENG trailer
It could be that the cut scene wasn’t as close to being finished. Even in the recent Japanese trailer for the PS4 launch the lighting and effects look a lot better too. These are the final touches we’re seeing here. Every character in the Metal Gear series gets an introduction title like that. Although they used to say the voice actors name underneath the characters name instead of their position in the MGS universe.
Hm, Skull face gets the same type of introduction in the actual game as the characters in the red band trailer.
Skull face
Commander of the XOF …..
I wonder what comes after that. Commander of the XOF ??? ???
Me too, I’ll look into it.
After that is just the name of the voice actor in parenthesis I’m pretty sure
Commander of the XOF – James Horan OR Takaya Hashi
It looks like they are playing the English version based on the story recap screen.
Commander of the XOF (identity unknown)
Makes sense now thanks 🙂
Pretty sure he’s actually Sniper Wolf.
Is it safe to say that Eli is liquid? and iv heard ah theory that Quiet might be the End’s grand daughter or some other relation. Her face does that same weird shadowy thing that the End’s did in snake eater.
Eli being Liquid seems pretty likely.
Yea, seems extremely likely. Looks like he may even have a jackal tooth necklace.
What’s that box on the left?

as for Skullface being the head XOF, they’re pretty much following Gouda from Ghost in Shell 2nd GiG.
same attire, same burned face, could be same motivation and maybe same JPN VA?

i also dug up an old interview with Kojima talking about Kenji Kamiyama(Stand Alone Complex) and Mamoru Oishi.
“Kenji Kamiyama is the director of Ghost in the Shell: STAND ALONE COMPLEX. He’s an old war buddy of mine. We fought beside each other in a certain hellish affair over ten years ago in Nerima, a district in Tokyo. Mr. Kamiyama was already established as a highly intellectual and talented man. I commuted to work from Kobe to Tokyo back then, so I could talk only about work with him.
Some time after moving to Tokyo I ran into him at the preview for the film Jin Roh by Mamoru Oshii. Not many people in either the game or film industries possess solid character, and Mr. Kamiyama shares his character with both. He is a rare man: one who possesses talent as well as charisma. I would like to work with him again.”
man i really do hope they make a Metal Gear Solid anime with Production IG and Kamiyama spear heading the project.
could even bring Akio Otsuka as well seeing he voiced Batou and Snake.
The large box is a ‘box pop’: http://www.metalgearinformer.com/?p=11114
Not sure what it is, but I think it’s a large, empty box that can be displayed in stores (I’m sure you’ve seen them before).
i don’t know why they’re not selling this.
it reminds me of those big boxes from gamestop.
only store display then gets either thrown out or put back on their backstorage, never to be seen again.
Worse, most places do not have room for all the promo type stuff, so it gets thrown away. Worse still is we often tear them up or fold them to get them all to fit in as few trash bags/boxes a possible. Makes me feel a little sad destroying them, I mean…I may not be a fan of a particular game, but I bet someone out there would love this stuff. Another reason it is destroyed is so people do not dig through the trash and sell the stuff they find.
So it’s like what Old fashioned PC Game boxes used to be like? 😛 Man, I remember those days…. go to buy Diablo 2 and it’s basically in a fucking Shoebox, hahaha. (Merely, they’re empty and for display to view it like one would to old fashion PC game boxes)
Those were the days. Giant boxes filled with loot and girthly instructions that weren’t toilet paper.
That’s cool and all, but why can’t we play GZ like this?
