Metal Gear Informer turns 6
It was exactly six years ago, on January 15th 2012, that this website was created. Metal Gear Rising was in development, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes was to be unveiled later that year, and the 25th anniversary was going to be celebrated soon.
Over the past six years we have published over 2000 news posts, articles and analyses. We have had over 4.5 million visitors and more than 12 million views. Over 100.000 comments were made by the community.
2017 was a bit of a slow year, there wasn’t a lot of Metal Gear news despite it being the 30th anniversary, and with Kojima’s new game still far from release. Hopefully this is something that will solve itself as Death Stranding will come closer and perhaps new Metal Gear projects are unveiled. But for now we just have to wait and see and take what we can get. The future of the series remains unclear, but hopefully it can be given a second life under a new development team. In the meantime, we may have to look for other ways to recover the costs of this website so that we can keep it going, now that traditional ad income as decreased quite a bit over the last few years.
Lastly, thanks to all the people who contribute to this site by visiting, commenting and moderating. It is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, suggestions or remarks, feel free to post them in the comment section.

It needs to be the direct link (ending with .gif) though it seems that with this particular site it’s not working. Maybe you can download and upload via Disqus itself? Or people can just click on the link. 😉

As Nyx said, try to make sure you are pasting the direct address to the file, keeping the part of the path until the file extension (*.gif) and sometimes truncating anything past it. Giphy works usually very well but the path must lead to the file itself.
Another option is also to right-click / “open the image in a new tab” and then copy its pure address.

Happy birthday MGI !!! It’s amazing that it’s been 6 years already :D. I know I haven’t been chatting much sometimes, but I check this place almost every day :). Thanks to everyone for support and Nyx for continuing being our fantastic Biggu Bossu!

I love this site and community, I hope it never goes away. I don’t post a lot but in most article I go through every comment just because usually there’s either interesting content or conversation happening there just as there is in the article. Several Metal Gear sites have come and gone, this one has been by far my favorite so here’s hoping we can find some way to keep it going. I’ve never looked into Patreon but that seems to be what everyone does these days; if its possible to get a rough/honest estimate of what you need and if its feasible than maybe we can rally to keep it going.
