Metal Gear Sahelanthropus by Kotobukiya gets new images

Is Sentinel’s Metal Gear Sahelanthropus a bit too expensive for you? Maybe the model kit by Kotobukiya is a good alternative. While the price hasn’t been detailed yet, these are often much cheaper since they are kits you have to put together and paint yourself.

It also comes with three figures: Eli (inside the cockpit), Skull Face, The Third Boy and Snake. When it’s upright the height is 200 mm.

I’d never buy it but I have to admit it would look awesome on display in my house.

I won’t buy the previous article’s one too but I love their both shapes.

Just got done with their REX model, easy to assemble and looks nice with a bit of panel lining. Might pick Sahelanthropus up for the right price and try my hand at painting.

They’re all still upset at Hayter’s not being part of The Phantom Pain and have been expressing it to him, apparently.

What I DON’T understand is the ‘what goes around, comes around’ comment. It doesn’t make sense in this context, unless there’s something I’m not seeing.

Personally, I didn’t mind Kiefer as Snake in MGSV. Hope I’m not the only one in this case.

      • No Place For Hayter

Easy, just look at it from salty Hayter view point, lol

Kojima dumps Hayter and replaces him with Kiefer for TPP, TPP gets released and there is a lot of hate for it from the fanbase.

In other words he is saying TPP is getting hate because of any and all nasty moves Kojima or Konami has done for TPP. As you can see he is still very salty about what happened and how it happened to him.

In other words, people are still desperately attached to David Hayter; despite the fact that his voice acting for Snake/Big Boss dropped massively in quality after MGS2?

      • No Place For Hayter

“desperately attached” I wouldn’t call still liking the guy and his voice being “desperately attached” that is inaccurate and way to harsh.

Also his quality of voice acting is entirely subjective, I for one think he has been amazing in every MGS game.

      • Uh. What? I’d argue 4 is his best performance, and 1 is pretty bad compared to the rest.

If this bipedal weapon didn’t look and act superior to Metal Gear Rex (21 years later!), I’d look forward to buying it. I think 5 is the best MGS, but not for it’s story.

    • You’re not going to buy what’s pretty much the coolest looking mech in the MGS universe because it’s a retcon? Okay…

      Reply
    • Nate Barrett

As I commented to someone else, the reason for it being “superior” to REX is that Huey didn’t design or build REX. Huey was the genius mad scientist. Otacon was about 50% of that.

Kid Mantis was what controlled Sahelanthropus and allowed it to walk upright via Psychokenisis; even Huey expresses shock when he sees it walk.

Sahelanthropus was designed to incite fear; Rex was designed mainly to launch nukes.

Given, you could ask why Mantis didn’t ‘control’ Rex and give it this ability in MGS1 but you could do that with virtually every strand of MGS’s convoluted story – there are holes everywhere.

MGS5 isn’t solely responsible for continuity issues – the entire series is.

        SPOILERS (NOT FOR THE ENDING)
Yeah I like how Kojima kind of skirts around the “too advanced for its time period” by having it controlled through Mantis as the weapon itself isn’t functional as Huey couldn’t make it walk upright and could only make it work the same way REX does, sort of saying that back then they couldn’t get more advanced than REX or D was.

Geez….If the price is not too outlandish I would consider buying. I think my only Kotobukiya kit is an Evangelion 3.0 kit. It was pretty decent. Also considering I can get their REX kit for about 80 bucks, I think this will hover around 100.

Very interesting, didn’t know that, but the only thing I can remember about the characters and their motivations is revenge, that is one point not 108, so it being a connection to the Buddha thing is right, I don’t really see the 108 points being tied into the story. Cool spot overall though.

I’m willing to fork out more money for the Sentinel one (as if I get over get it, lol) simply because I highly dislike stands to hold a figure up and the Sentinel one has one less stand than this one.
