Metal Gear Survive announced
At Gamescom 2016, Konami announced a new stealth co-op game in the Metal Gear universe. It tells an alternative universe story set directly after the events of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. The more I look at MG Survive the more I want to play it like right now. Good job, Konami!
I like co-op survival games like DayZ, 7 days to die etc.. I’d love this game if they do it right.
The more I see co-op stealth I keep hoping this will be like peace walker… if so, I might end up getting this. Hate zombie games though so idk.
I’ll wait to come to any conclusions. Was very skeptical at first regarding Revengeance (i know the context here is wildly different, but still…) and i did bite my tongue when i played. It was more bayonetta than mgs imo, but it was fun as hell, and i guess that’s what matters in the end. I dont have any hopes about this one but ill leave the negativity (or positivity) until after i play it.
Also i know Konami rightfully lost our trust after all that happened but ill be damned if people would be talking shit about this game if Kojima was behind it. Im sure everyone would be open for experimentation.

The thing is that Kojima is one hell of a creator and people trust him, even if he makes strange or silly stuff sometimes. He manages to make interesting even the most of boring concepts. He is kind of an icon in a industry where a lot of the things that are produced are generic or uninspired, where all that matters is selling and selling, sometimes outright ripping off customers, lying or betraying their trust, which is something Konami is very good at.
That’s why people react the way they do. I think it makes sense in this instace.
And BTW, I liked that non-Kojima MGSV trailer.

-First, it’s already confirmed to be an Open World Game, so all the Resident Evil Comparisons should just STOP.
-Second, Open world means Exploration, Exploration means gathering Resources, Resources means Building, Building means Campaign, and Campaign means…Story!
-Third, it’s a GZ type of Stand alone MGSV Experience…ironically being set immediately GZ, makes it GZ 2!
-Forth, we’re getting a new perspective from someone who is not Kojima, now whether that is good or not, remains to be seen, but it is intriguing to say the least, to get a new Bold “Balls to the walls” Take, and guess what, it’s Parallel Dimension, so the Kojima Timeline will not be affected at all!

Won’t judge until I play the actual game, but this doesn’t look one bit promising for me. Zombies and 4 player co-op? Because that concept has not become terribly generic these past years huh. So this was the “big thing” Konami’s PR was talking about? Amazing.
Anyway, this just looks to me like an excuse so Konami has “proof” that they want to keep developing AAA games and also recicle MGSV assets in one fell swoop, naming it after Metal Gear so it has brand recognition and sells more. Smells like Umbrella Chronicles miles away -and at least Capcom showed a lot of promise with RE7 so they have something positive going for them-.
I like zombies and survival-crafting games and stuff, I don’t get tired by them no matter how flooded the market is -which is-, but this could’ve been a totally new game, it just has the Metal Gear brand in it for convenience’s sake with a bad fanfic level plot and even though I like to keep an open mind about any game, I just can’t be positive about Konami stuff. They worked really hard to earn my distrust, and I don’t see in any way how turning Metal Gear into a zombie game is a smart move; I think they don’t have a single clue of what the fanbase wants. At least Rising made sense, Raiden is a cyborg already in MGS4 and we see how he fights, Rising is just a game centered around that, with a more direct approach. Even before Platinum Games took the project, the first prototype of Rising made by Kojima and his team was really similar, and Platinum Games’s Rising also had Kojima’s supervision. Rising’s story is stupid, yeah, but I liked the villians and I laughed my ass off with Armstrong, it has that kind of dumb charm.
And anyway, I don’t like co-op games if I can’t play them alone. Some you can, some you don’t, or you can but the AI is so stupid that even normal difficulty is a pain in the ass *cough*Left 4 Dead*cough*.
Gentleman, I´m sorry if this possibility was already raised but, it seems to me that Metal Gear Survive was once part of MGSV, maybe as a DLC, but Kojima could not finish it.
I do believe that Konami simply fleshed out an unfinished work left by Kojima. Who knows, we may even see Chapter 3 as a standalone game.

Can’t know for sure is it good or not until see gameplay I guess. But I don’t like the idea of Metal Gear name used with some zombie shooter and I was hoping for Konami to not continue the MG games. They could have at least aimed for something different.
I love MG because of the familiar characters and Kojima’s brilliant mind, not this. I lost all respect for Konami after what they’ve done :(.
If I have the desire to play some kind of weirdo zombie shooterish game, there have been plenty of those around already since 1996. In fact, the genre is so wasted already but more keep coming. Sadly all of my favorite franchise change too much, SH, RE and now MG. This whole thing just reeks of Operation Raccoon City kind of bs. But maybe it will be good and maybe many will buy it, I won’t.
I don’t think any of this was Kojima’s idea. Or maybe it was lol, some scrapped idea that didn’t make it into TPP. Players will visit Camp Omega once again through different dimensions, which was something Kojima had planned I think. I mean revisiting it.

I personally think a zombie stealth game with MGS stealth mechanics is a really neat idea.
I mean I am not that much into zombie genre and for all I know a game like that might already exist, but pretty much every zombie game I saw had super simple and shallow stealth mechanics and enemy AI.

See, the difference is, Raccoon City was an actual full-priced videogame with a different engine and everything. Survive is more like a huge DLC. Metal Gear Survive is the equivalent of Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare. It is a non-canon hypothetical scenario. It is NOT Metal Gear Solid 6 and it is NOT canon. And when it comes to canon in Metal Gear, let’s be honest… it died the moment we were introduced to Big Medic…
I don’t understand why people are treating this like it’s the Metal Gear Solid 6. And the reason why zombie games keep coming is because they’re not so washed. The Last of Us came out at time people were shouting the same thing you said, and the game slapped that shit right out of their mouths. Days Gone looks ridiculously great. Have you seen that E3 demo? One of the best DLC is Red Dead’s Undead Nightmare. Compared to shooters, racing, and JRPG/RPG’s the Zombie genre is the new kid on the block.
Bottom line:

Exactly, I mean is a shame that Kojima is no longer working at Konami, and this new metal gear survive will not be a metal gear solid, and it shows right from the trailer, its not as good as the ones made by Kojima. But Kojima with his team of programmers and other directors like Shuyo Murata or Yuji Korekado made the Fox Engine and the fact that there are no others games aside from the ones made by Konami like Pes and Metal Gear with the engine, shows that they are the only ones capable of working on it, so I believe that when Kojima left a lot of people of Kojima Productions left, but a lot stayed too and they know how to work on it. I mean they already wasted a lot of money making the engine, they might as well use it for new games. And I know that maybe they aren’t comfortable working there and working on something different from Metal Gear Solid but honestly I think the people working at Konami are probably in a better job environment than you and me. And lets be honest Kojima was probably the one who was behind the idea of a Metal Gear with zombies-like enemies but wasn’t able to finish it, and the MGS franchise for everyone here is the best gaming franchise ever but it doesn’t sell as much as let’s say a call of duty or fifa, my point with this is that MGSV and Kojima costed a lot of money to Konami and again Metal Gear games doesnt sell as much. To conclude, yes it’s bad and it’s wrong that Kojima is no longer making Metal Gear games, and Survive will not, by any means be a Metal Gear game, but it could be fun playing it with friends or it could be the worst game ever but who knows, they haven’t even shown gameplay yet and I will give it the benefit of the doubt. I mean when Konami said that they were leaving the console market everyone was upset saying that they should make more console games, and know that a new Metal Gear is made for consoles, we as consumers are also mad.

A lot of people will say they aren’t buying the game and try to convince others not to but when the game comes out I doubt they can resist, it may be different but it’s still metal gear just because hideo is gone now doesn’t mean metal gear is too. I’m looking forward to seeing exactly what survive is and I’m hoping for a lot more metal gear in the future.

An fob stand alone game could work well, I spent a lot of time on that and it was just with the same bases to infiltrate, a game where you have more types of bases to choose from more freedom on guards positions and maybe co op infiltration could be good. I think konami will do some cool things with the series, they could bring out story driven games and they can also just do some crazy fun sort of things like survive and a stand alone fob game.

I on the other hand thing that at the end of peace walker, Snake split in 2 personalities, Big Boss, and Skull Face, then 9 years later Big Boss had to to split in to 2 personalities again, in Ishmael and Venom, and work together in his head to exterminate the third personality, Skull Face, that was created by Big Boss to justify torturing Paz in 1975 (GZ) about Zero.
However Skull Face started to take control and almost managed to become the main personality, got strong, but fortunately he was killed by the good part, by Venom, remaining only 2, Ishmael and Venom, and in the end, Ishmael, just like The Boss, put down his gun, and passed on Code name and Body of Big Boss to him “I’m Big Boss and you are too”
Hence why at the end we see the Demon Figure full of blood, Representing all the 3 personalities in 1 (Ishmael, Venom and Skull) looking in the Mirror, then Ishmael and Venom working together killing Skull Face once and for all when Punching the Mirror, remaining only 2 now.

I’ve seen people on various comment sections of ‘Metal Gear SurviVe’ related videos saying it “isn’t Metal Gear without Kojima.” To add to that, I think it also isn’t ‘Metal Gear’ without the unique art design of Yoji Shinkawa, the man responsible for the designs of the characters and mechs since ‘MGS1’ (1998). Not to sound like a fanboy blinded by nostalgia, but because of that, I feel the ‘Metal Gear’ Konami is now going for no longer feels like the ‘Metal Gear’ that we, as fans, fell in love with a long time ago.
