Nearly a million Metal Gear games were sold in the last quarter of 2023
Konami has updated the total lifetime sales of the Metal Gear series, and as of the end of December 2023, over 61.1 million games were sold. That’s up 900,000 from their previous number, which was 60.2 as of the end of September.
It’s a significant boost from the usual numbers, the series generally sells between 200,000 and 500,000 copies per quarter. The reason, of course, is the release of the Master Collection in October of last year, which has been fairly successful.
This success should continue with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater supposedly planned for sometime later this year (according to PlayStation, Konami itself still gives it a TBD release window), and possibly the release of Master Collection Vol. 2, although nothing has been confirmed yet on that front. Furthermore, a physical release for the PS4 version of Vol. 1 is coming out next month, but only in the EMEA regions.
