Norihiko Hibino performs a lullaby version of ‘Snake Eater’ on second ‘Prescription for Sleep’ game music album

Norihiko Hibino is known by many fans as the man who composed numerous memorable music tracks for several Metal Gear titles. His talents can now be enjoyed on this new music album released by Scarlet Moon Records, titled Prescription for Sleep: Game Music Lullabies Volume II.

As the press release explains:

‘Scarlet Moon Records is pleased to announce the availability of its highly-anticipated arrangement album, Prescription for Sleep: Game Music Lullabies Volume II. This follow-up to 2014’s acclaimed first volume presents many of gaming’s greatest melodies arranged to sooth and relax, performed live by GENTLE LOVE featuring saxophonist Norihiko Hibino (known for his contributions to the Bayonetta and Metal Gear Solid series, including the iconic “Snake Eater” theme) and pianist AYAKI. The album is fully licensed and is now available via LOUDR and other digital retailers.’

When you purchase Volume I and II together (for $20), you also get a free bonus track.

Here is a trailer for the album, featuring Mr Hibino himself.

‘Music from Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy VI, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Xenogears, Shovel Knight, DuckTales, Chrono Trigger, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater arranged and performed live by Metal Gear Solid and Bayonetta series composer Norihiko Hibino and pianist AYAKI.’

Aside from different tracks from many video games, it also contains an arrangement of the famous ‘Snake Eater’ song from Metal Gear Solid 3. You can listen to a preview of it here.

Lastly, here is what the album booklet says about making the Snake Eater song therapeutic:

‘If the original arrangement represents a big fight under heavy economical and political issues, this arrangement may represent a private inner fight, sacrificing your own self for somebody else, which was the original concept of the song anyway.’

I’ve met Norihiko Hibino before, he was just the kindest gentlemen I’ve ever met. He signed 3 of my MGS items and we chatted for some time.
