PC version of MGSV The Phantom Pain coming September 1st after all
Originally planned for release on September 15th, two weeks after the console launch, Konami has now announced the PC version of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be available on Steam on September 1st as well. The official press release:
Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. has announced it will release the PC edition of the eagerly awaited METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN alongside the console iterations on September 1st. Pre-orders are available now via Steam, which will include a copy of its illustrious prologue, METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES, absolutely free.
Originally scheduled to launch on September 15th, KONAMI has responded to calls from PC users and worked toward an earlier release date. The PC edition will now be available for pre-order via Steam – alongside the PlayStation®4, PlayStation®3, XboxOne™ and Xbox 360 editions. Fans who pre-order their PC copies of METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN via Steam will also receive a copy of METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES. All Steam customers will receive a collector’s video which reveals behind the scenes footage and a unique documentary, in addition to DLC in the form of a ‘Venom Snake’ emblem and Mother Base Staff.
“We initially did not think it would be possible to get such an epic game out onto PC in time for launch alongside its console counterparts, but all involved have worked diligently to meet the demands of our PC consumers,” commented Tomotada Tashiro, President of Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. “Now PC users will be able to explore the vibrant and beautifully-realised locations and set-pieces that elevate METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN beyond all other action titles. We feel confident that Steam users will be satisfied with the contents we will provide for the Steam version.”
METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN heads to PC as a dramatic advance for the multi-million-selling franchise, expanding themes and content seen in METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES. As with its prequel, the PC version of METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN hosts a stunning 4k mode, which adds incredible visual acuity to the game’s huge open world environment. The game is also enhanced for those with NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards, meaning the game’s incredible level of detail is further enhanced as the scarred terrain of global battlefields is brought to vivid life with realistic weather patterns and day turning to night during the course of the action. For a limited time those who purchase qualifying GeForce GTX GPUs will get a free copy of METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN.
METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN sets a new standard in stealth-action, with the series’ famed sneaking elements greatly expanded and host of new characters – both good and bad – driving a tale of revenge. The game follows series hero BIGBOSS as he enters a series of battlefields following the deaths of his colleagues. Central to the game is a hideously disfigured adversary known as Skull Face, while the ongoing conflict also introduces the new, iconic characters, such as the mysterious Quiet – a female sniper with incredible abilities.
METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN is 200x the size of its prologue and the expansive locations allow players to adapt their tactics to match the demands of the varied environment, creating an intuitive and utterly non-linear gameplay experience. Likewise, a host of acclaimed METAL GEAR SOLID tropes return in hugely advanced forms, including expanded CQC (Close-Quarter Combat) skills, and vastly improved enemy AI.
To complement its solo infiltration missions, METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN also features a fully-integrated base management system where players strengthen their private army, Diamond Dogs, by expanding and customizing their Mother Base. Players can then take the battle online by infiltrating and stealing resources and personnel from each other’s Forward Operating Bases (FOBs), as they vie for worldwide supremacy.
Finally, METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN also features the dedicated squad-based competitive multiplayer component, METAL GEAR ONLINE. Newly redesigned with the familiar gameplay and aesthetic styling of the acclaimed series, METAL GEAR ONLINE introduces Tactical Team Operations and features a ‘class system’ that more uniquely defines the strengths and abilities of player characters on the battlefield. As a result of the updated timing, console versions of METAL GEAR ONLINE will go live on October 6th, with the PC version set to release in January 2016.

Hell yea, now I don’t have to boycott the internet for two weeks. Great news.
Fuck yeah!

P.S. Rob if you read this, take your time with MGO and make it shine 😉 !
You seem a tad excited there Gatsu, (but thats understandable, coz my reaction was the exact same lol)
on another note, now im conflicted whether to get mgs for PC or Ps3….. ahh to hell with it, il get both =D
Lol, can’t help it XD. I get them for both, well I originally bought PS4 for MGSV…but later they announced it for PC too so 😀 both.
PS4 playthrough first as I always played MGS on PS anyway, then later I switch to PC.
Funnily enough i got my ps3 for mgs4….and my ps2 for mgs2…. ever since i played mgs when i was 2 or 3 iv never been able to stop, its literally my favorite game series for as long as i can remember, (you could say im a true MGS fanboy haha)
im a tad surprised the system reqs are so similar to GZ due to the larger world and improved graphics… hopefully its is as well optimized as GZ (in my eyes GZ is one of the best optimized pc ports iv ever played….so my expectations are rather high lol) but i trust in kojima and his team that all will be well 🙂
Buy it on PC if the performance is up to scratch. Otherwise buy nothing. Every single major title on the platform has had terrible day/week/month one issues. Let’s hope they take a leaf from the perfect Ground Zeroes port.
I seriously don’t get it. It’s like every company releases their games 1 week too early. How about from now on if a game is scheduled for Sept 1st they just release it on the 8th and get that week 1 patch finished? ¬________¬
There ya go!!!!
Pity the console multiplayer is behind the Xbox Live/PSN paywall. Not paying that rippoff fee they charge just to get online. Thank goodness for the PC. Of coarse purposely delayed on PC to boost console subscriptions.
Doing our best
The important information that needs highlighting is MGO’s launch date. The multiplayer doesn’t go live until Oct 6th for consoles, and Jan 2016 for PC. Hahaha, though I see this as a positive, as I intended to finish story before jumping to multiplayer to avoid spoilers (people with mics can be such jerks). Maybe they’re taking the extra time to implement a Co-op mission/mode (please please please).
Lovin’ the purposely delayed PC release. Jan 2016? Anything they can do to help MS/Sony boost those unnecessary, rippoff, live subscriptions. Thanks again Konami. Your the best.
That’s twice you’ve said the same thing in here, it’s sounding a bit “tinfoil hat”-ish, you think they are delaying the PC release of MGO on purpose because the consoles need help with their sales? That’s kind of ridiculous, just saying.
That’s a pretty wild claim, whyd they bring pc date forward in that case? There’s still gonna be online Base invasion in the sp mode
or a proper anticheat. I hope the anti cheat is very effective.
I’ll take the system requirements with a grain of salt. Played ground zeroes on high With i5-4440 and amd 7850 with fps >60 (don’t know exactly how high).
I have a Radeon R7 7850 gpu and AMD Athlon 4x 3.4ghz and played the game on all high with no stutter/lag whatsoever, but it also depends on the resolution of you monitor.
Mine is just 1280 x 1024.
Forgot to mention that 🙂 played on 1920×1080
60FPS on the lowest settings with that ancient card.
I expect medium on 60FPS. We’ll see in less than a month.
BAM!
Had to come by to see this, so glad they managed to push the date up, no spoilers for those two horrible weeks http://i.imgur.com/rrpgWcT.gif
Big Boss approves!!!
Good enough for me.
This is in a three-way tie for my favorite gif, it’s too good.
59,99€ for pre-purchase on steam and it includes GZ, not bad. Hope they drop the price tough since people bought GZ and payed 20€ for it. I’ll be waiting for it to be sold separately
Yeah, at the moment you just get a giftable Ground Zeroes. I’d prefer a price drop too since everyone I know already has it.
Behold the true King on this world !
Bada ba ba bow…
Don’t remind me of DipShitPhill…
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MichaelPayneV will be happy 😀 😀 😀
Now I can sell my ps4 and cancel the pre order.
Coming the 1st on PC also. Nice!. My GTX 980 and i7 says hello. Now the Ps4 Collector Edition I bought is starting too loose it’s appeal.
The IGN statement also says that they cannot guarantee good Windows 10 performance launch day.
http://ie.ign.com/articles/2015/08/03/metal-gear-solid-5-will-launch-simultaneously-on-pc-and-consoles
WELL! YOU GOT 28 DAYS TO FIX IT! FOLKS ARE SPENDING THEIR HARD EARNED CASH. Get on the horn to AMD and Nvidia, Konami.
They can fix it… by September 15 though 😛
What a surprise. I love gaming on my PC but something needs to be done about launch days. There is really no excuse at all for what keeps happening with AAA games. Seriously.
Ground Zeroes was incredible, it actually ran at a playable framerate even without driver updates, but this is 200x bigger. Something is bound to happen. I might just stick to my original plan and pretend that the PC version releases 2 weeks after the console version.
Does anyone know if there will be pre=purchase rewards for the pc version?
Yes
Congratz, PC bros!
To think I almost bought a ps4 today
Why not both?
No time for that, I think.
Oh man, I don’t know what to do now. I will be getting the PC version and it will be my primary version that I play but I wanted to get the PS4 version day 1.
I know that Ground Zeroes was basically perfect on launch but overall I just don’t trust PC gaming on the day of release anymore with games this big. There are ALWAYS driver and performance issues no matter how powerful your GPU. The last thing I want is to buy it and then have to wait a week for a patch. I’ve been waiting too long for this now!
What do you guys think? I might just go PS4 anyway, it’s still beautiful and the framerate is guaranteed to be solid.
I would like to know if extra content like behind the scenes video and DLC’s are limited to those who preorder the game or if they are included for the entire price.
‘Cause i thought to wait winter/christmas sales on steam to buy TPP while playing it on ps4.
I’m just happy that I don’t need to wait two weeks and dodge spoilers for my first full Metal Gear. Dis gon b gud bois

Playing GZ on PC looks godly as hell!!
